Moody’s Air Conditioning and Heating

It was extremely difficult to find a company to come out ASAP to address a lack of heat situation we had going on in December. One of the many companies we had called was nice enough to recommend Moody’s since he serviced our area.
Moody came out early on a Saturday to assess our situation. Unfortunately, it was too cold outside to fully be able to diagnose the issue. He told us it’d be no charge and if the issue came up again, to give him a call. Luckily, our heat has been working fine since but should something happen to change that, we will call him first.

My heater broke on a Saturday so I started going down the Unilocal list trying to find someone to come look at it. I almost gave up until Moody’s answered and agreed to come out. Gary was at my house within an hour and had it fixed within 45 minutes. He told me it was a simple fix and then did a full cleaning and tune-​up. He charged me less for all that than any of the other companies quoted to just come out and diagnose the problem. He was very friendly and I enjoyed doing business with him. A few days later his wife called because she accidentally spelled my name wrong on the invoice (I didn’t even notice) and to let me know she fixed the spelling and appreciated my business. I would highly recommend Moody’s!

We didn’t have any serious issues but just wanted to make sure our system was running ok. We’ve had other companies out before but none of them were as much of a pleasure as Gary Moody. A+ guy, down to earth and was honest, knowledgeable, and efficient. Answered all our questions and didn’t try to up sell any equipment. Arrived on time, took his time answering ALL our questions, checked freon levels, blew out our condensate lines, and still made it out of there in 30 minutes. We didn’t feel rushed at all. I asked a simple question concerning the deteriorating foam around some of the lines outside and he could have simply said «nah, don’t worry about», but instead explained why they don’t have to be replaced, that they’re more for protection for home owners and workers since those lines get hot (heat pump system). I’m a pretty technical guy so to have explanations of how the system works and what should be of concern and what is normal goes a long way as a home owner. I always appreciate a person who takes the time to explain what they’re doing and why. Moody’s is now our first pick.

I can’t say enough! The family came home last night after a game to a hot house so I called and left a message at 11pm at night. They called me back the next morning before 8a and scheduled someone to come out and see it that very morning. He got here at the time they scheduled and fixed our AC quickly. Very professional, so reasonably priced and excellent customer service!

We woke up to our AC unit blowing hot air and struggling to keep up with the heat. I tried to contact a few other companies, but they were either too busy or didn’t answer. A friend recommended we contact Moody’s to fix the problem.
My call was immediately answered by a friendly woman (I think she is the owner). Within 45 minutes, we had a technician looking at our unit and assessing the problem. Luckily he only has to replace a capacitor and our AC was up and running.
Excellent customer service, fast service and quality work! I will definitely use Moody’s for any HVAC issue we have in the future and I will make sure my friends do as well.

My A/​C stopped working this morning. Called Moody’s, it was 105 out and I wasn’t sure if I could get on the schedule. Gary got to me and had the unit working in no time. The is the second time I have used Moody’s and would not hesitate to use them again. They are friendly, have excellent service and their prices are reasonable.

Excellent! I called on a hot Saturday when my air conditioning was not working. Moody’s came right away! He had everything he needed in his truck. He replaced my board and got my air conditioning working right away. We liked him so much we ended up using Moody’s to replace our entire HVAC system when the time came. A+
This is the only HVAC company I will use while living in Austin. Fantastic.

I decided my AC unit probably needed to have a check up before the hot Texas summer started. I have owned my house for two years but there were renters in the house before me so there is no telling when the last time was the AC was serviced. Called and got an appointment the next morning. Gary was early for the appointment (fine with me!) and was efficient. He explained what he would do then what was done in a way I could understand. I needed to have Freon added but other than that everything was good. I would recommend this company to others. Thank you.

Wow. Called one of the better known companies in town. $ 80 service call and they said the compressor was dead and no way to get it started. Called Moody’s on friends recommendation. They came out right away and had the unit up and running in 10 minutes.

Moody’s Air Conditioning & Heating is an exceptional company. Gary knows the business inside & out. We have counted on him for 20+ years, and he has consistently proven to be reliable, caring, honest, and able to efficiently deal with any & all of our a/​c & heating needs. He makes every effort to come out on the same day he’s called when the A/​C is out in summer — which is rare and huge when it’s 105 degrees outside. He installed a new unit in our last house and explained our options, pointed us to all available rebates, and performed the work at the time and for the price he had quoted us. I truly can’t recommend Moody’s highly enough!

We have used Moody’s AC & Heating for 2 unit installations and several repairs on older units. Gary has always given us the most competitive pricing, quickest response to service calls, and does a very thorough assessment and repair. I wouldn’t use anyone else! I appreciate his competitive pricing and know I can trust that the job will get done right.

I called these guys after I had a miserable experience with a previous A/​C contractor. I knew exactly what the problem was with my system and when I talked with Moody he didn’t dismiss my description of the issue. He thought about my options and gave me a recommendation with a ballpark price over the phone. It was a lot of money so I figured I would try to fix it myself.
Saturday morning I crawled up in my attic and quickly discovered I was in over my head. I called up Moody and, on his day off, spent time with me on the phone to discuss my issue and how soon they could fix it. He asked me to text him some photos so that he could more accurately ascertain the situation. He then sent out one of his guys to check it out in person.
They gave me a quote (only 5% above what Moody ball-​parked for me over the phone) and were at my place Monday morning. The problem was fixed before we got home from work.
I was impressed with the professionalism, promptness, and quality of work. I highly recommend these guys.
My only criticism is that they use an answering service so you will usually have to wait for a call back.

I had Moody’s out today after waking up to 61 degrees when my heater was set to 70. I called at 6:40 a.m., expecting to leave a voicemail, and was very pleasantly surprised when someone actually picked up the phone. She told me she’d page a technician, and less than 10 minutes later, Lori, Gary’s wife, called and let me know that Gary would be able to come out in the afternoon, which is what I wanted (so I could go to work for at least a while).
Moody’s was recommended to me by another company about 6 months ago when my air conditioner stopped working (for a reason unrelated to today’s visit), and I had been impressed by Brian’s professional demeanor, so they were my first thought when I needed HVAC service again today.
My problem today was something as simple as a breaker. It tripped, probably because of the extremely cold weather, and Gary did some quick diagnostics. There was an $ 89 service fee, which I was aware of from their previous visit, but there was no cost beyond that. Gary also provided me a quote for the replacement for the breaker if the problem continues. All in all, I was and remain pleased with their service and they’ll be my first call again.

Don’t get the 4 star rating wrong, I like Gary Moody a lot and plan to use him again in the future.
He’s super helpful and came out to my house really fast both time the A/​C stopped working. He’s very friendly and gets the work done fast! He even came over while I was at work to fix it so when I came home the house was already cooled off. He was also very accommodating when it came time for me to pay (after $ 250, the $ 400 a week later was a bit steep).
My only concern was pricing and A/​C issues. My unit is brand new, 4 years old. The first time he came out there was a charge of $ 89 diagnostic fee I wasn’t originally told of (no one on the phone told me about this and I wasn’t told about this until after the bill was written up and the work was finished). I paid $ 250 in all for that visit (including diagnostic charge), and all that was done was the pipes got flushed out (unit had been leaking and it wasn’t getting past 82 in the house). Well 4 days later the A/​C unit completely stopped working. The motor was out. According to Gary these two problems were separate issues. My motor was out. Luckily it was under warrantee so I didn’t need to purchase a new motor… however that didn’t cover his work so that was another $ 400. I’m not sure what that $ 400 covered really, but he did say he would re-​blow the drain pipe (free of charge) just to be sure (as the unit was leaking again when it stopped working the second time) In a span of a week I paid $ 650. I’m not sure what other people charge for these things so I’m not sure if the pricing was fair or not, but sometimes it’s helpful to read about it on Unilocal.
Let’s hope this next motor lasts much longer.

Awesome service. My AC went out and it had multiple hard to diagnose problems. Moody’s handled it with great detective work and quality solutions. Highly recommended!

My experience was slightly different. Our AC stopped working and we called them as our regular hvac technician wasn’t available. We booked an appointment, but weren’t informed of any visit fees.
Their technician showed up the next day, again no mention of visit fees or estimates fees. He checks the issue and finds a couple of loose wires; tightens them and AC comes back on (so he clearly knew what he was doing). He tries to hurry and fix the issue without explaining the problem, consequences or calling out the charges for the repair.
He quickly steps out and comes back with a $ 180 invoice. I refused as it was only a 5min job and they didn’t clarify any amount before fixing the issue. The Tech hung out in my driveway for about 30mins talking to «his boss». Then he came back twice over next few minutes with reduced amounts of $ 125 & $ 90. They really lost credibility for me there itself, as they clearly didn’t believe they deserved the $ 180 (which is apparently their base price). Matter still in dispute.
I have worked with several good heating and AC technicians in Round Rock/​Austin area and they offer free estimates and clarify charges before fixing anything. In fact, there are Hvac guys out there who will not even charge for a small service in exchange for a good review or a referral. So, beware of $ 89 visit fees! Stay away if you can. 2 stars because they could fix the issue.

I cannot say enough good things about Moody’s AC & the owners! They are honest, dependable, knowledgeable & family owned & operated.
The owner shoots straight and whether it’s a routine maintenance call or something else, I can always count on Moody’s to do the job right!
It’s hard to find good companies to work with when you need them, but Moody’s is at the top of my list and I’m confident they will be at the top of yours too!

Gary and his wife Lori are great! They do fast work, they’re real nice and can sympathize with you and also explain the repair to you. The only thing I can fault them for is not having extended hours for when it’s 7PM (like right now) and they do not have service until the following morning.

Gary is an honest guy who does good work. He was our yearly AC check up guy untill we decided to upgrade and had him put in a whole new system. Couldn’t be happier.
Like many local contracters he doesn’t keep a full time office staff, so just leave a message and they’ll get right back to you. Highly reccomended.

They are professional, but yet still caring, nice human beings.
The answering service was a little off-​putting, but wow — Lori called me back within 3 minutes. Talk about speedy service! and she is as nice as they come.
They were able to work us in on one of the hottest days of the year (so far) and Gary fixed our A/​C unit in only a FEW MINUTES.
Can’t recommend these guys enough. Wow.
