NorthStar Surgery Specialists, P.A. specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of benign and malignant surgical diseases. The practice of General Surgery involves the management of a wide variety of conditions involving the abdomen, chest, skin, endocrine system, vascular system, and many other tissues. Some surgical conditions may require a minor procedure that can be done in the office, while others may require hospitalization and major surgery. Some surgical procedures can be done using specialized equipment, such as laparoscopy (minimally invasive surgery) or endoscopy. Exciting new technology now just being introduced to the general surgery arena include robotics surgery and single-​incision laparoscopic surgery.

History

Established in 2008.

While starting as a solo practice, the goal will be to eventually add other surgery specialists with the common mission of advancing the practice of surgery. This will be done through being involved with continuing medical education, research, advancements in surgical technology, and involvement in medical teaching with the Austin area medical students.

The mission of NorthStar Surgery Specialists, P.A. is dedicated to promoting health care by providing excellent emergency and elective general surgery service to the Austin metro and surrounding areas.

Meet the Business Owner

Vineet C.

Business Owner

Vineet Choudhry was born near Chicago and has lived in various places growing up such as Kansas City and San Francisco. However, he moved to Ft. Worth, Texas in 1984 and now considers himself a native Texan. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin in 1997. He then received his medical degree at Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine. After successfully completing his specialty training residency in General Surgery at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Wichita, Kansas, he returned to Austin in 2008 to open his medical practice.

Dr. Choudhry is an active member of numerous medical societies, including the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, the American College of Surgeons, and the Travis County Medical Society among others. Dr. Choudhry is board certified in General Surgery from the American Board of Surgery, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S.).
