Good food in the $ 5 dollar plate. Both the Jerk chicken and the tofu plates are worth it. Great if you want something simple to enjoy outside.

The food here is absolutely delicious! I was impressed by the large portions, which included plenty of jerk chicken, rice and peas, a mini salad, and a fried plantain… all for $ 5. The grapefruit soda I had was also a great way to wash down slight kick that the chicken left behind. The owner was really friendly, and he let us lounge out back by the lake while he made our food. Then he personally delivered our meals to us when they had finished cooking. We didn’t have to lift a finger. The service was unbeatable, and it made our experience all the more enjoyable.

Lunch at One Love is a steal — and the service leaves nothing to be desired. Prop up your feet on their back deck, sip a ginger soda, and let the gentleman manning the grill whip up and serve you heaping, hot portions of delicious jerk chicken… add live music to that equation and you get one of the best trailer meals in Austin. $ 5 will buy you a heaping portion of delicious jerk chicken, soft, fluffy rice, and a mini-salad complete with avocado… This is one of the best cheap-yet-overwhelmingly-delicious lunches I’ve had in town — I wish I could install them in my back yard!

I’ve never had Caribbean food before, but if it all tastes this good, I’m definitely a fan. I had the jerk chicken plate, and it came with some romaine lettuce, cherry tomatoes, fried plantain, sticky rice, and some peas for $ 5, and it was pretty fantastic. I had never seen fried plantain before, and when I asked what it was the owner told me and told me a bit about the place. Super friendly guy, too. This food trailer has a table beside it with some reggae playing, and a back patio with a great view of the river. Definitely some great food in a great environment!

I visited One Love Kitchen with two other people, and between the three of us we were able to successfully order almost everything on the menu. We had a jerk chicken plate, a tofu plate, a jerk sandwich, and a beef pâté. First of all, this was way too much food. It is shocking how much they put on a $ 5 plate! Secondly, they were all very good. My personal favorite was the tofu. It has loads of garlic and spices, and although it seemed less spicy than the chicken, it was not at all lacking in flavor. As other reviewers have stated, the plates come with rice, a salad, and a fried plantain. All were very good, but I surprisingly liked the sticky rice the best. I am generally not a big fan of rice, but this was the perfect accompaniment. Finally, the staff are welcoming and laid back. We already felt at home before we even got our food. If you are thinking of going, I would highly recommend it!

Texas-sized portion of Jerk Chicken with plantains, salad, rice and peas for $ 5!!! That alone should draw you there. The food is delicious. I ate the whole damn thing like a fat ass. And the Jamaican sodas are crazy good. I love the vibe. Definitely feels like you’ve left Austin once you go to the back patio with a view of the river. Service was friendly and welcoming. I’ll definitely be going back.

Lovely service(befitting the name), fantastic food, great price, in a funky, magical setting. This is one of my new regular haunts! Really delicious grilled tofu, fresh, grilled plantains, fluffy rice, delicious curry sauce and a beautiful salad. I could not have been happier!

We went here for my birthday this week and I didn’t realize they had reduced hours for the winter. Mike, the owner and cook, stayed open just for our group! The atmosphere was wonderful while we waited, they have a huge deck overlooking the river. Mike had run out of his standard plates of food because he was expecting to be closed, so he cooked us up everything he had left and served it family style. The food was amazing! The chicken was nice and spicy and the vegans in the group raved about the tofu. We will be going back here for sure!

I drive back and forth and see it. It beckons me. I checked Unilocal and went. Let me say, get the Tofu. Even if you have never had Tofu you liked. The man friend of mine, whom makes an ugly squishy face every time he hears the noun, loved it. I asked him if «love» was too strong of a description. He said«No, it is accurate.» It was pan seared(in my opinion the best way) and had a supreme amount of garlic. Really, really good! The rest(rice, pigeon peas, garden salad and plantain) were fresh and yummy. For 5 dollar’s? …Are you kidding me? Crazy, psycho deal! The owner, super interesting, nice and informative. I am hoping when I go back, they will have the curry I have heard so much about, and I will be able to give them a proper 5 stars. Great East side trailer addition.

Once upon a time, I found myself trekking through the land of reggae and space cake. In a place where you can have a kilo of anything delivered to your beach blanket Mr. Gatti’s style, I soon discovered the only thing hard to score in Jamaica was a decent meal. A rumor of great traditional Jamaican food led me and my companion down a dirt road to a lean-to shack in the middle of a papaya field. When I asked the woman behind the counter what was on the menu she gave me the 10000 yard stare she probably reserved for all 18 year old white kids with pretensions of Rastafarianism, then she grunted: «HOOF.» Propelled by a bad case of hunger and white liberal guilt I ate it. I ate a fucking hoof. Thus began a long career of putting the wrong things in my mouth. The one thing I did manage to avoid for the next 19 years was Jamaican food. But, recently after seeing One Love Kitchen’s trailer on Cesar Chavez I figured it was high time to get over my Jamaican aversion. One Love is a happy little place. No sign of angry women cleaning their machetes on dirty aprons. No hoof in aspic. Just nice people and good food.

Fantastically tasty $ 5 lunch. I had the grilled jerk chicken with curry sauce(highly recommend adding the curry) which was served on a bed of sticky rice with a small salad and fried plantain. The affable owner is so very gracious, and the trailer is spotless which adds to the great experience. Will definitely be back!

NEWLOVE on Cesar Chavez. I’m so tired of the taco stands, though I love them. STARBREAKDOWN: 1– Large portions, fresh and healthy-looking ingredients 2 — Cleanest trailer I’ve been to 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5 — My office smells like the delicious delicious GREILLE that was a-chuggin’ behind the trailer. Nice landscaping. I could see the river. Tasty Ginger Beer as part of the drink selection. $ 5 lunch. 4. THEREWERETWO island guys sitting there, having some nice lunches, speaking in their awesome accent. So awesome. [/awesome] 5 — It was trailer food and it was worthy of being in a proper restaurant. Plus the cook was nice. Ok so there we have 5 stars and a few sprinkles on the side. Did I mention they have a website and have dinner activities?

One Love is a great addition to the ever growing trailer rage! They serve Jamaican street food and have a great spot with views of the river and live Reggae music on most Fridays you can BYOB and chill with some friendly folks and dogs and pretend you are on vacation for a few hours. I have been twice on a Friday night and it has been a great way to start the weekend! On the cheap I might add! The 5.00 plates are a lot of food and for those with a really big appetite you can get double the protein choice for 2.00 extra. Plates come with choice of protein and 2 sides. I am guessing they keep their prices so low by just focusing on a small menu and and not having to purchase a ton of different ingredients that might not sell. What they do they do great and that is JERKCHICKEN! The chicken breast is juicy and perfectly spiced on the spicy side. The only other protein option is Tofu which I have not tasted but from the plates of others it looked popular served over rice with a curry sauce. Both times I have gotten the same thing because it is so good Jerk Chicken with a very fresh salad with tomatoes and very generous slices of avocado with a great homemade dressing and fried plantains. I want to give them 5 stars for the guys who shared their Red Stripe with us but that probably would not be a guaranteed experience for others:)
