Orangewood Inn & Suites

I would give this place negative stars if possible. Inside your room you can hear everything, people fighting in their rooms, elevator, people talking on the phone in the hallway. Do you need to sleep? Skip this place…

Unfriendly Indian family runs this place. The neighborhood is not good. The hotel itself is not too bad, plenty of parking. Often overpriced.

It seems like the renovations referenced in earlier reviews has been completed. I wasn’t expecting a lot at this price. There is a microwave and mini fridge, which is a plus. I had some doubts about pristine cleanliness and didn’t feel totally safe. Breakfast was good.

This place was okay. We only stayed for the night, and honestly, I don’t have a long list of expectations when it comes to one night stays like that — clean, working hot water, working TV, and I am satisfied. They had about 98% of that. While the room looked clean, there was a towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door that was there when we got there. It made me wonder how they REALLY cleaned. Also, when we googled the address for directions, it took us across town. When I called to get directions from the hotel, the first time, I got nowhere. Just a simple «You’re on the other side of town.» The second time, I got semi-​vague directions that took us 45 more minutes to get there, and we still had to stop and ask for directions because we completely gave up on GPS. Thanks for nothing, front desk people… Anyway. The walls are paper thin, so be prepared to hear everything. The next morning, I made a point to get up early and grab breakfast. My son and fiancé were still asleep, so I was just going to grab somethings and bring it back to the room. SURPRISE! You can’t bring your food back to your room. Like, they even have a sign and a hawk-​eyed front desk dude to make absolutely sure you don’t smuggle even so much as a banana out of there. It’s kind of ridiculous. Okay, what is the point of even having a breakfast? I am pretty sure they are the only hotel in the US that does that. So, we skipped out on breakfast because I wasn’t about to wake up my child for a banana and some cereal. Then, while getting ready, at least an hour and a half before the noon checkout time, housekeeping came knocking on the door asking if we were still in there. After telling her twice we were getting ready, and reminding her checkout was at noon, she finally left. Overall, I don’t know if I would stay there again, but I have stayed in worse.

We stayed here because we had to stay somewhere during the Formula 1 Grand Prix. I didn’t have any troubles with the desk or housekeepers as I speak Spanish.
However, I found one solo BEDBUG in my bed when I got up in the morning on Sunday November 2, 2014. I was in room 329. Since it was the middle of the F1 event there was no empty room in the Inn, so I didn’t bother complaining. I simply squashed the bedbug with a paper towel I had in my bag and left it on the nightstand. When I came back that night the bedbug paper towel was gone and it looked like the staff had sprayed.
When I checked out, I mentioned this to the desk clerk. He told me that they have a contract with a fumigator who comes to spray weekly and he’ll be sure the management instructs them to treat the room especially next time.
I am currently running all clothes and bags that were in the room in the dryer on high for an hour per load to kill any eggs that may have made their way onto my belongings.
I did not get any bites, so there, that is the bright side.

NOTE: This review is a bit lengthy but I advise you to read it thoroughly before booking with this company unless they change it up drastically.
I tried to write a review for this hotel on the TRAVELOCITY website where we booked the hotel but they wouldn’t approve my review so I’ll come here and post it.
WORST HOTEL EVER!
About one month before our trip to Austin, Tx my husband and I spoke to a Travelocity phone rep. we told her that we wanted to book a hotel in Austin, Texas with RAMADA INN. When my husband, a friend of ours and myself arrived at the hotel it was not the one the original one that we booked it wound up being hotel called: OrangeWood Inn & Suites.
When we arrived The front desk attendant wasn’t very nice and I wish she would’ve been because the accomidations were HORRIBLE.
THE BAD: From the outside the hotel looks run down. The beds and bathroom had the appearance of being clean but the room had a lot of dusty build up in hidden places, the shading for the lamps had holes in them, the mini-​fridge was noticeably scratched up and the dresser drawers were cheaply made. I myself took a shower with my flip-​flops on because I didn’t feel too comfortable there. Our friend who went back inside said he smelled an «illegal substance» being smoked by one of the guests staying there.
We stayed for one night and the next morning my husband noticed that he had a break out on his left arm from whatever was in the hotel that previous.
(we wound up calling Travelocity back and arguing about the accomdiations and after about an hour to an hour and a half they credited us a 2 night stay and we wound up going to the Extended Stay America a couple of blocks down.)
Whoever stayed their previously had a nasty snot kleenex behind the end table. I have some difficulty with uploading the picture on travelocity’s site but if you want me to email it to you personally please title precisely to the subject: OWINN1 to:
The –only– POSITIVE thing I can say about Orangewood Inn was that it had a complimentary breakfast and and that you had to consume in their cafeteria (you could not bring food back to the room) If you would like to see that photo please title the subject: OWINN2

Dont be fooled by the pictures on their website!!! Our family stayed on this hotel for my husbands business trip. at first we thought it was an ok hotel, the staff were not very nice. None of the housekeepers speaks english and they’re all rude. They didnt come to our room to clean till 4 pm. Stingey smell in the hall ways, very outdated, they only have a flat screen tv in the dining area and they have an old school 26 inch tv in room. There is very little hot water from the faucet. coffee maker don’t have cover to make coffee so you cant make coffee at all. Internet is horrible!!! In general this place is not good to stay at. Will not recommend it to other people.
