Peckerheads on Sixth

We had the most amazing time for my bachelorette party, all thanks to Kyle, Mike, and Jordan. The service was great and they really made our night special! I would absolutely recommend going if you are ready to dance and party!

Cool place if you like to have your stuff stolen while your not looking! Very creep guys approach you and I’m positive the bar tender was the one who stole our stuff!

Went here last night with my girlfriend and when she wasn’t looking the bartender poured her cranberry vodkas with no alcohol. He then turned around and charged her $ 8 for them. Never ever go here they’re scam artists who take advantage of people.

The girls and I always get free drinks here but it’s not really worth it because of all the sketchy guys. :\ so A+ for treating us right but F for the creepy crowd.

This place is ratchet. I have had a number of friends (including myself) get stuff stolen out of purses at this place. I avoid it at all costs.

As I approached the bouncer on Friday night, I was digging through my purse for my ID. He must have thought that meant I was underaged (I’m not… by several years) and trying to get in, because he grabbed my arm, inappropriately rubbed it up and down twice, leered at me, and asked me if I wanted to come in. Immediately taken aback, I grabbed my arm away and asked what he thought he was doing. He responded, «What are you going to do, write a Unilocal review about it?» Well, since he suggested it! I also went up to one of the many officers congregated on the street to report the situation. The first one was an overgrown frat boy himself and said these things happen because «underage girls like to drink» and maybe I should just «try another bar.» Duly noted. The second officer I approached seemed to understand how inappropriate it is for bouncers to spontaneously grab women and suggest there might be a way for them to get in a bar without ID, so he and another officer went to speak with them. Just goes to show you can’t wander around 6^th and pick a bar without knowing a little about it. Unless of course you don’t mind being creepily touched by a stranger on a power trip. Maybe I’m too sensitive, but this kind of behavior really bothers me.

Terrible bar.
Went here last Friday, and one of my friends whose is Hungarian mistakenly thought the rest of our group had left (we were inside the photo booth), so she went outside. When she couldn’t find us, she wanted to go back in. The door man asked for her ID, and she tried to explain that he had already checked it earlier and she wanted to come back to rejoin the group. I would have just acquiesced and gotten it over with, but English is not her first language, and it was a misunderstanding. When she asked why he needed to see her id again, he called her a b**** and wouldn’t let her back inside.
When she texted us about it, I confronted the doorman, and he admitted to calling her that, and then asked me if I wanted to fight. I declined, but left shocked at his unprofessionalism. I know a lot of bouncers are thugs, but having one actually wanting to provoke a fight, actually asking me to fight was a first for me. This guy either never was properly trained, or had such a Napoleon complex that he didn’t care. Regardless, I learned that I’m too old for some of the sketchy bars like this on dirty sixth which are staffed by thugs with nothing to lose in life. Even if you do want to get trashed for cheap on dirty 6^th, there are better options than this dump.

This place is for college kids who have a fake ID and want to get smashed off of their faces so they can make out with each other to poorly mixed rap music and then blame it on the a-​a-​a-​a-​a-​alcohol the next day. Its a shit show by 1am. The drinks are cheap and taste like sugar water. Again i think this is mostly to appeal to the younger crowd who don’t want a well mixed cocktail or drink– they want to black out without breaking bank. That being said i recommend the Adiós Motherfucker, it tastes good, will get you very drunk and is fun to say to the bartender/​anyone. All up this place is fun if you are with friends and trying to de-​stress from school or work but when it comes down to it this bar is a dump.

This bar has great drinks at very affordable pricing. The music here is one of the reasons I continually go back. They have really good DJs and people are dancing all over the place. The girl to guy ratio is usually really good. Lots of people get those big mason jar drinks, but I am not a huge long island fan. I just stick to the H-​Bombs, which the bartender, Declan, told me is their number 1 shot.
So go dance the night away at Peckerheads and order up some H-​Bombs.

The main reason why I came here was because I saw that they had mason jar drinks — I mistakened this bar for another one I had gone to the last time I was on 6^th street (I know… you probably wonder why I can’t remember the name of the other place RIGHT?).
This place was crowded, loud, dark, and had lots of dancing. It was also really hot upstairs and not a lot of room to move around. I hunkered down on some randomly placed bar chairs that were along the back wall and sipped on my long island iced teat mason jar with friends. We watched a bunch of interesting/​outdated music videos that were playing on the TV’s behind the bar and were pretty entertained.
I would definitely recommend against spending all your 6^th street time here, but those mason jars are quite tasty. It might be a good game plan to get your happy juice here first to prep you for the rest of your 6^th street adventure!

I bet this place is A-​OK on a slow night, but like so many Dirty Sixth establishments, any weekend or major sporting event turns this place into a special circle of drink-​spilling, butt-​scraping, crowded hell.
The Mason Jar drinks are a lot of booze, and a nice touch. When you consider that getting back to the bar nearly requires the chartering of a private bushplane to get over the forest of collegiate dancers, not having to go back to the bar as frequently is a relief.
Peckerhead’s is a decent premise, and its major flaw is really beyond it’s control: popular location and good prices plus sardine-​can space limitations means insane crowding, 100% of the time. They could probably stop hawking specials on the street once they run out of space, though.

This place is terrible! I purchased a $ 10 drink (which usually contains 3 – 5 oz. of 5 different kinds of liquor. After the bartender out less then 1 oz. of only one liquor and filled the rest with juice and I mentioned that she made the drink wrong (Just trying to rip people off to make the bar more money). Thats when the male bartender next to her told me he was going to come over the bar and beat my ass. I then closed my tab and said y’all shouldn’t do that to people. As I was starting to walk out the male bartender threw a glass at me as hard as possible like a baseball and hit me in the face.

The danger of living anywhere near downtown is that you’ll inevitably become a regular– Peckerheads is pretty high on my list.
Cheap drinks, good-​ish top 40 music, and a decent space to dance, which makes it the place we tend to end up at when we have a large group or people visiting.
However, the most compelling reason to come in is because no one can resist J, the friendliest staff member at this establishment. His smile/​attitude has a way of corralling us in even if it wasn’t on our list for the night.
You can’t ask for much more on dirty 6^th.

Cheap drinks and dance hits.
The flight of «Exorcist» stairs into the bar and green, Ecto Cooler-​tasting specials might have turned me off any other night. Peckerheads, however, made for a great last hurrah before the 2 a.m. closing time.
Drinks served in mason jars are always a charming touch, curbing some of the testosterone out of the place.
Danceable, classic jams here but nothing that’ll surprise you. But who’s looking to be surprised on 6^th street?

There are a lot of factors that may make this rating a little biased.
I’m from California.
This is my first visit to Texas EVER.
And I’m probably still a little hungover.
But from what I can remember: we stopped by here first and they had an awesome local band playing covers of some chill rock songs. Only… they couldn’t be chill because the band had a freakin’ SAXOPHONE. It was pretty sweet.
And then, after some bar hopping… we came back! We were in search of some hip hop music and Peckerheads was blasting just what we wanted to hear.
So overall… I think I’m gonna say the music scene is diverse? Based on a sample of two instances in one night… Yea.
Maybe I’ll do a rewrite after some water, ibuprofen, and another nap. Wee.

Congratulations! You and your friend will be drinking for free at this bar. And to a cheapo/​broke student like myself, that is music to my ears.
This is not generally my scene, but I never say no to a free drink (unless it is being offered to me in a van or behind a dumpster), and the staff has never been anything but nice to me. Just don’t be a dick and not leave a tip even if you are getting free booze.
Also! Everyone squishes up front (what is up with that? Are these people related to sardines?) but there is a room in the back that is generally completely empty with an aquarium. For people that are as easily amused as I am, this is a highly entertaining way to pass the time.
Its worth stopping in on your walk down sixth. I know those heels hurt walking up those stairs but just remember as you drink your free cranberry vodka, sometimes being a girl pays off!

PECKERHEADS IS AWESOME! drinks are cheap, theres never a cover, and they play a great mix of rap, hip hop, mash ups, top 40s etc. ladies theres a little flight of stairs so be careful in your heels. the crowd is great. the dj will take song request also! they have huge mason jar drinks and tall boys with coozies :) this is a great place to get slizzered and dance the night away!!!

Even for a dirty 6^th bar, it isn’t the best one ever. The music is ok, being a mix of hip-​hop and hip-​hoppy pop, but the atmosphere isn’t great. It’s a decent sized bar decked out in old wood so it has potential to be a cool bar for dirty 6^th, but many others are a far better choice than this one.
Cheap drinks is a plus. Bartenders are not so nice… I’ve gone twice and it’s been that way both times. Meh.

I agree with Lynn and I don’t want to waste time on these people. I used to love this place to dance, but now I would rather go anywhere else. The bouncers are rude and have no ability to talk but rather use physical force to do what they think needs to be done. I understand if there is a fight or something big, sometimes you have to get people out, but what I saw the other night was way over the top.
