At Perfection Auto Detailing, we offer Austins most comprehensive and meticulous detail job. We are not a high volume car wash that also happens to do «detailing». Auto detailing is our ONLY business. We take the time to do it right the first time, typically completing one car per day. I started the business over 30 years ago, and moved here from New Jersey 6 years ago. We are experienced in all phases of auto detailing, including wetsanding, compounding, polishing, waxing, interior shampooing, upholstery cleaning, AND our NEWEST service: headlight restoration for $ 59.95 per pair. We’ve detailed everything from a Hyundai to a Ferrari, and as you can see from our Yelp reviews, our customers are very happy. All work is performed by appointment only.. We are usually open seven days a week in order to better serve our loyal customers. History

Established in 1986.

As a teenager who had just gotten his first car, I had always been obsessed with keeping it as clean as possible. Many of my friends noticed, and would always say «you should open a detail shop, I’ve never seen anyone so fussy about the way their car looks». Several years went by, and in the back of my mind, there was always this inner voice telling me they were right. In 1986, I made the decision to start Perfection Auto Detailing. In the very beginning, I serviced mostly new and used car dealerships, specializing in new vehicle preparation, pre-​owned car refurbishing, and lease car turn-​ins. At one point I had thirteen employees. The world of automobile dealerships is a fast paced one to say the least, and I felt like I wasn’t able to provide my best work due to time restraints and incompetent help. The turning point for me was when I decided to open my own shop, work alone and spend the amount of time actually required to do a top notch job. I haven’t looked back since!

I’ve always had a passion for cars as far back as I can remember, having owned and built numerous classic and custom cars. I am actually in the process of building a wild 1950’s style custom concept car, so for me, opening and running an auto detailing shop has been a natural progression. Cars are my passion.

Jim is truly a pleasure to work with… a really nice guy. My car retains its brand new look because of his work. He performs quality work and is extremely meticulous in his execution. HIs price is reasonable for the value received. I would recommend him highly to anyone wanting their car to look its best.

I apologized to Jim when I brought my car in… because it was in a wretched state. Cigarette ash everywhere, random sticky gunk from things left to melt in the summer, scuffs galore from moving, and assorted hairs and dirt from camping with dogs. He indeed took the entire day — as other reviewers have mentioned, it takes him about a full day to work on one car — and it was totally worth it! My car looked as close to dealership-​new as it could. Jim was friendly and upbeat and stayed in contact with me throughout the day. He texts — it’s very casual.
I did have to schedule an appointment like four months in advance, so be aware that if you want your car detailed by him you’ll have to wait.

We just took our 2 cars to Jim this week and all I can say is that he is amazing! Both of our cars were filthy inside and out, as we have 2 big dogs that leave muddy footprints and hair all over the seats. I don’t think either of our vehicles have been washed in the last year.
When I went to pick up my first car, I was literally in shock at how clean and new it looked. It did not even look like the same car. Now I was so excited to get our other car detailed as well since we are going to sell it.
You can really tell that Jim puts his heart into his work. This is not a quick assembly line detailing. He takes his time and his work is just PERFECTION!!!

Our 2006 Toyota looks like new! I contemplated going to one of the quick in and out auto detailers but knew I’d get what I paid for. I called Jim because of his location and Unilocal ratings. I got on his wait list and I’m so glad I did. I got everything I paid for and it was worth the wait. EVERY strand of dog hair was picked up. Excellent quality. Thank you!

This place is amazing! At first I was confused by the 3 month wait for an appointment, but I now know why. Jim does INCREDIBLE work and made my car look brand new! I will gladly wait for this kind of quality! You can tell the amount of time and effort he puts into making your car shine. A very thorough job on a vehicle that was in pretty bad shape. Throughout the whole process, Jim sent updates on the status of the vehicle. When we picked it up we were impressed. I had taken the same vehicle to a detail shop a few months ago, and Jim put these guys to shame. We will never take our vehicles anywhere else. Highly recommend Perfection Auto Detailing.

WOW WOW WOW! I googled Auto Detailing in Austin, and I kept seeing Jim’s name with 5 Star Reviews. I though to myself can he really be this good and this affordable? Yes & yes! I’m the second owner of an Acura TL so I’ve never seen my car look new… until now. I did inside & outside detailing with headlight restore. When I pulled up and saw my restored headlights, I literally said «holy sh*t!» The leather inside my car is soft & supple, and I couldn’t find a trace of my pet’s hair. You won’t regret choosing him, and there is a reason he is booked 4 months out!

I thought I was picky about my car until I got it back from Jim of Perfection Auto Detailing. This guy misses nothing. Took out buffing marks from previous detail and put a hell of a shine on it. Already sent some friends there.

Reply to owner, not bs, truth. I could not see it in the daylight when i picked it up. U knew that. I told u under certain lights it becomes apparent. My guess is u didn’t use an inspection light to see if u were correcting it or not. Btw, didn’t use wax to correct it, use chemical guys v36 polish and porter cable da buffer. Yes, 7 months is late but ive been busy.

I usually do this sort of thing on my own, but I knew I was in over my head with the amount of brush scratches after off-​roading in Big Bend. Jim did not disappoint, the car looks new again. I called him to explain what happened and he asked if I could stop by so he could take a look. After explaining what he could do I had complete faith in him. He used a compounder to get the scratches out, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s great to find someone who takes pride in their craft. I will definitely return.

Everything is back to looking brand new. The exterior has the perfect shine and the wheels and tires look amazing. The interior was thoroughly shampooed and dust was removed from every crevice I cared to check. Jim handles one car a day and clearly enjoys his work, which translates directly to the final result. He was also very pleasant and accommodating. I’ll definitely be bringing my car back next time around.

I was in the process of selling my 2012 Kia Forte and took it to Jim to get a full detail. He did not disappoint! I have a golden retriever and had not had a good interior clean in probably a year. He made the interior look like it had never been used. There was not a single dog hair left in the car, which I had assumed to be impossible. Jim is passionate and prideful about what he does, and will take the time and energy to see the job through to the end and make sure it’s done right. He was very nice and communicative, and the price was a bargain for the level of detail. A great experience overall! Thanks Jim!

Jim did a great job on our two cars and he was very pleasant to work with.
We paid extra to have the headlights of our older truck refurbished and it made a huge difference: the headlights are much brighter at night. I had not realized how dim they had gotten over the years.
The leather in our 2005 sedan, much battered by our kids, looks factory new. Both cars have been cleaned within an inch of their lives and look fantastic.
It is true that you have to make an appointment well in advance but it was worth it. Overall, excellent work by a man who clearly derives pleasure from doing things right.

Excellent auto detailing. Drove from Georgetown to see Jim. Excellent customer service from the beginning … My wife noticed the leather seats when I opened her door to the detailing inside… If there were 10 star rating, Jim would get them all…

So, I took my black ’13 Civic Si to Jim a few months ago, around January if I recall. It was a display car for Honda sponsored events and would get constantly «detailed»…horribly.
I got it off a Honda Dealership; the paint FULL of swirls/​cobwebs.
It would make you cringe. At night, under a light, or under sunlight, you had to FIND the black paint under the layer of swirls that gave it an almost light gray tint.
Took it to Jim after looking through Unilocal at the highest rated detailers.
I made a great choice.
Took it to him at 8am and said he’d be done around 5pm, that it was an all-​day job. (Which was true, I spied on him a bit to make sure it wasn’t just for show. This man was committed! Haha!) Handed him my key and crossed my fingers that the results would blow my mind.
I came back at 6pm and there she was. Glossy. Wet looking. BLACK.
Of course I had to give him a tip out of great appreciation. He even took off the stupid dealership emblem I asked him to remove from the trunk, and detailed every door jamb.
That night, I still saw a COUPLE stray swirls. But that was just the first-​black-​new-​car, part of my brain, over-​analyzing the paint job on a $ 25k Honda. It’s not like it was a super car or a show car or something…
Few weeks later, I see a black Mercedes SLS, with atrocious swirls. It was pretty disgusting. Not anywhere close to how my car USED to look, but still way off from being as clean as how it looks now.
Every black car I see, I compare with mine. I was, and still am obsessing.
There’s been no comparison yet.
Owning/​maintaining black paint will drive you crazy. But if swirls are your problem, Jim is the man to go to.
He’ll restore your sanity.

It can take a while to get an appointment scheduled (it’s basically a one-​man operation, so he can only do about 1 car per day), but man oh man, is it worth it. My car looked brand new when I picked it up. He even cleaned the inside of the fuel door! I’m going to be making a yearly trip to Perfection from here on out.

Our car was flooded in the heavy rains last week, and after the water receded it left a nasty smell and the threat of mold. The car was also full of dog hair, dirt, dust, and the accumulated clutter of the past six years. It was our embarrassing car. I found Perfection Auto Detailing thanks to the great reviews on Unilocal.
We got the car in for an appointment by the end of the week, and when we got it back it was like a new car. The mold threat was gone. The dirt and dog hair had disappeared. All the clutter was neatly placed in a box. It was amazing. It was money very well spent. I really appreciate the owner for taking care and pride in his work, it really shows.

When you are ready to get your vehicle clean — and I do mean clean — give Jim a call at Perfection Auto Detailing. It had been over a year since I washed my car before I brought it to Jim. My car (2006 Pontiac G6) wasn’t terrible looking, but there was plenty of dirt and grime that needed to be taken care of. But that’s not why I’m writing this review. I’m writing it because Jim surprised the hell out of me in two ways.
My tan colored car seats were stained when I first received the car as a hand-​me-​down. They were spotted and downright ugly. I’d say Jim removed 90−95% of these stains. I did not expect that, though I was certainly hoping for it. But his next trick was even more impressive.
There was a long streak of red paint on the side of my car due to a parking lot accident, and it was an eyesore. Anyone who saw my car would ask what happened. Well, those days are done. There is still some slight indication that there was an accident (some scratches), but that red paint has disappeared. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I just wish I had the foresight to take photos.
Jim is my new car restoration magician, and he is definitely a cool dude. Give him a call if you want to roll in style.

I called Jim early on a Friday morning to make an appointment, but the weekend weather was awesome and he was booked up — he asked me what I needed and he did offer to make time for me anyhow later that weekend — which he didn’t have to do.
I dropped off my car and picked it up hours later looking and smelling, deep clean and refreshed. Forgotten jambs, nooks and crannies that I occasionally took notice of being dusty or grimy now were polished and shined. No corners were cut, no detail left halfway completed. It’s like my car had a long overdue spa day!
P. S. Jim made time to detail my car even after having major set backs that I as a reasonable person would have accepted to reschedule. However, he didn’t make excuses, got the job done, perfectly, quietly and and appreciated my business.
