I needed a platform bed frame. We were at a loss as to where to look for one and stumbled across Primitives.
Upon entering, we were greeted immediately by a salesperson. (Oh brother, I thought, maybe this guy works on commission). I braced myself for a pushy salespitch, but instead he asked what we were looking for and said he’d go pull up some options for us to look at online (Ok, maybe he’s just a really nice salesperson!)
He called us over, showed some options and then gave me his best possible price. I’m super cheap and still in apartment living, so it was way out of my price range.
But here’s the cool part: He said «ok! Unfortunately that’s as low as we can go, but you should try _​_​_​_​and _​_​_​_​_​_​for what you’re looking for!» He thanked me for my honesty and asked me to consider them when looking for accessories in the future. For a place where I bought nothing, I left thinking I’d give them business whenever I could in the future. Really beautiful furniture and really great salespeople — you can’t get much better than that.

Very high quality, unusual, one of a kind, and beautiful products here. While it is expensive, given the quality and the service it is well worth it. All the staff and friendly and knowledgable. We have built up a relationship with Travis, and even after not having been in in a couple of years, he remembered us and greeted us like we had just been in yesterday. Excellent products and excellent customer service.

I recently had a great experience at Primitive with Kari. I knew I was looking for specific pieces, but I wasn’t sure primitive had a wide range. Overall, Primitive has mainly rustic and industrial styles, but I expected that with its namesake. What kept me from a full five stars was the pricing. I expected high end furniture with high prices. I would have liked to see similar pieces in a mid-​high range also. There are, however, sales quite frequently and I never felt pressured to gaze beyond my budget. My favorite part was the detailed and professional service from Kari, a certified Interior Decorator, and unique pieces, like the Fandalier. Even though I didn’t purchase anything that day, I was still treated as her best customer and we had a few laughs along the way. Kari, thank you. When we find ourselves needing a consultant, a Decorator, and furniture we will definitely come back.

Extremely well built, high quality and beautiful products. Everything from beds and headboards made with extravagant exotic woods and materials, to hand made armoires imported from Peru, to desks and office items that will last a lifetime.
Our experience was made fantastic because of Kerry (spelling). An amazing woman with an even more amazing personality.
This place is top notch and I’m excited one day purchase some of the beautiful furniture and accessories from such a great place.

I had the most amazing experience with Tad today. He is so fantastic: kind, patient, informative. Ask for him! He will make you feel comfortable asking questions. I have over 20 yrs of experience in retail and customer service, so I know my stuff. He is sincere and will help to find what you are looking for using every resource. The store is beautiful, full of fantastic things. I want it all!

Disappointed in the overall experience. Abrasive and condescending staff… Not worth the money. Found higher quality pieces for less just down the street, with friendly employees!

I recently purchased furniture from Primitive Furniture and had a wonderful experience. Tad was the sales person who assisted my husband and me in our selection. Tad was extremely informative and knowledgable on all the pieces. I will continue to buy from Primitive and request Tad. I had a very satisfying experience with this vendor. My wife and i needed to buy a dining table with chairs. We were greeted by Travis the Sales Manager. After a brief discussion to determine what we were seeking, Travis proceeded to show us many pieces that were in line with what we were seeking. He did not rush or pressure us. Instead, he was thorough and excited about the pieces in his showcase. After we found the dining set that my wife and i determined was nearly perfect for us, Travis insisted and encouraged us to first look elsewhere as to make sure that we had done our due diligence. We went to pottery barn, restoration hardware, and arhaus. In the end, we could not find a dining set that we liked more than the one we found at Primitives. Not to mention we paid about half the price of what these big name vendors were charging. Travis was paramount in the deciding process. My wife and i genuinely believed that he was more interested in our happiness than making a sell. Doing business with primitives and Travis was an easy pony to ride.

Love this furniture store! The customer service is amazing– especially Tad. Purchased several items from them and Tad went above and beyond to make sure my husband and I were happy! We ordered a custom bed from them and when they delivered it Tad even showed up at our house on a Sunday night to make sure everything was great! He even came into the store twice on his off day before we purchased the bed just so we could ask him questions. I highly recommend shopping with them and ask for Tad!

The furniture is expensive but the service is friendly. The wait times for non-​floor pieces to arrive can be definitely be lengthy. But overall we have been satisfied with our purchase (s) from Primitives.
Don’t come here looking for bargain deals, but if you’re looking for unique or eclectic wood or leather furniture, then Primitives has a great selection to browse through as well as custom order.

So I sit in an over sized chair to check it out. The sales guy comes over to tell me that I’m the «first person to fill that chair» and that they lent it out on Christmas for a Santa Clause. I reply «yes, I know I’m fat» and walk away. The wife and I are looking at another piece when he follows us with «That’s not what I meant.» Then proceeds to tell me of «a friend, no he’s actually more of an acquaintance» that «is over 400 pounds. Boy you don’t want to go out and eat with him and his wife». Apparently this place is for in shape, slim shoppers only so we left. So to my portly brethren, stay away.

This place is awesome and definitely not you average furniture store. Every piece is unique and not something your going to find elsewhere. I have personally met the owner and he was extremely helpful and accommodating. This is one furniture store my wife does not have to «drag» me to.

Very unique and well-​made items from Texas, the Southwest, Mexico, Guatemala and many more. If you love distressed furniture, this is the place for you.
The personnel at the store are well informed and helpful. Store policies are very customer-​centric. Prices are reasonable but not cheap
Update: We custom ordered an item on February 10^th — had to finally get a refund on May 20^th because the item didn’t come in despite assurances it would be there in 2 months. Always a problem with the mountain people making the item, couldn’t get it across the border… To be fair, they gave me my refund without problems.

I own a furniture store in College Station, and I strive to eventually be lke primitives! I love this place, everything about it is high class. The ladies were really nice and even let me bring in my chihuahua since my girlfriend and I were traveling. Most people that rate this place low don’t truly have an idea of how much fine furniture costs… This place doesn’t sell cookie cutter Ashley Furniture particle board crap which I really appreciate. I can honestly say this store has some of, if not the best hacienda style rustic in probably the area.

The furniture here is pretty eclectic and the craftsmanship of each piece is over the top. Granted, the majority of the furniture here is not our taste (Primitives is more of a Ranch-​like, animal hide, and ornate kind of place), but I could see how those who like this sort of thing would be blown away with the selection.
We were in search of a rustic dining table with mismatched chairs and a bench and found exactly what we were looking for. We found plenty of dining sets that we liked at Pottery Barn but were getting sick of giving money to this mega corporation. Fortunately we found a set that suited our taste perfectly at Primitives. I cannot comment on the delivery time because the items we purchased were in stock, but our furniture delivery was scheduled two days after purchase. Lastly, the saleslady was very helpful and walked with us throughout the store to point out pieces that fit the style we were looking for. Overall, we had a great experience.

Primitives is an interesting furniture store. No veneers or laminate pieces are sold here; only solid wood items. In the past, I have found unique one of a kind items marked down to almost nothing. The ladies in the showroom will go to the ends of the earth to find you something you might need. It’s just that, there is nothing here I need.
I tried to make myself need something but it did not work because that would involve spending money. There was a gorgeous decorative pillow that caught my eye. I imagined it in my bedroom and then in the living room. However, when I saw the three hundred dollar price tag, I closed my eyes and left before it could hypnotize me into taking it home.

We’ve had the couch for quite a while now. It’s excellent quality. We will go back to Primitives for our bedroom furniture.

A great place to visit at least once, if for no other reason than to see how the ultra-​wealthy shop. You can easily imagine yourself in an episode of MTV Cribs with all the huge, exotic, high-​end pieces. If I owned a castle, there was an awesome $ 11,000 gothic bar, made of hand-​carved black wood and covered with aged leather and metal studs, that would be in it now.
But in all seriousness, I was looking all over town for simple, solid wood plasma console, and they had exactly what I was imagining, and for a surprisingly reasonable price. The salesman, Otto, was very helpful, friendly, and laid back. He said it was a popular item, and that it could take 6 – 8 weeks for it to be built and shipped from Indonesia, but that with some luck, there might be an extra one in the next shipment. It was Saturday, so he said he’d call early in the week to let me know. So far, a great experience…
Well, not only did he never call, it turned out that their ordering agreement says that orders can take up to 3 months to arrive. (Verbally, I was led to believe that it wouldn’t take nearly that long.) When I called after a month to check on the status, the woman that answered the phone sounded annoyed that I was calling already. I told her Otto had promised me a call on the status weeks ago, and she said he’d call me in a few days. Again, no call. I waited another month and repeated the exercise, with the same results.
Since I had to pay in full up front, I was starting to get a little nervous after a few months. At the time, there was a Unilocal review (now gone) from someone with a defective sofa, and he claimed to have similar problems getting a response from anyone. Supposedly, the manager was dodging his calls, pretending not to be there, until he called back pretending to be someone else.
Well, the console did eventually arrive, 3 months to the day after it was ordered. This would have been a totally acceptable experience if a) they had been honest about the shipping time, b) had called me as promised, and c) didn’t act bitchy on the phone when I politely called to check on the status. As it stands, I’d only buy from them again as a last resort. I don’t think honesty and courtesy are unreasonable expectations for furniture shopping.

I wanted to post because I think the previous poster gives this place a bad wrap when its really pretty good. This place is for luxury/​one of a kind pieces only. The staff here is really great, we’ve bought two pieces from them and everything was delivered on time and went smoothly. Yah, don’t expect to come here looking to furnish a 10 by 10 studio apartment. Staff is amazing. Oh, and here is an insider tip: they have a wall full of catalogs you can also order some really nice furniture pieces from. If you even find a style that you like, they can help you find the maker, and you can browse through their catalog for similar looking furniture that suits your tastes
But if your looking for some really exotic high quality pieces, give this place a look.

We were out looking for furniture last Saturday and saw this place from the side of the road… thought we would check it out.
You know when you walk into a store and you immediately know you aren’t going to like anything… but you walk around anyway because you don’t want to be rude and walk back out?
That’s this store.
If I was decorating a hunting lodge or a castle I would come in here to buy some furniture… Gaston from Beauty and the Beast would love this place (Disney reference? Yes!). The sales staff was nice, but the furniture was big, bulky, ornate, and over the top. One piece of their furniture would fill my entire living room.
But, if you’re into this type of style I would definitely check it out… because they have a lot of it. Dead animal heads, furniture that looks like it was pulled straight from a forest, massive hutches with all sorts of wood detail… you get the picture.
