History

Established in 1991.

Putnam Construction Consulting is a family business run by Don Putnam along side his daughter Stacie Putnam. Don started a successful roofing company while at Austin High School in the 60’s. In 1984 he established one of the first construction consulting firms with his wife Marcia and good friend Brian. In 1991 he sold his part of the business and started Putnam Construction Consulting in order to focus more on forensic investigation and litigation cases as well as to serve more residential clients along with his commercial clients. Stacie joined the company in 2004 while attending St. Edwards University and has since been promoted to Projects Manager. She is proficient at locating leak sources and water damage as well as performing moisture mapping of walls. To date, Don has served as a roof expert in more than 100 cases, and has provided expert witness testimony in approximately 85 cases.

Don Putnam has been repairing, replacing, inspecting, and evaluating roofs for more than 45 years, 1^st as a contractor while in high school, then as a full time roof consultant after founding Austech Roof Consultants in 1984.

In 1984 the State of Texas required that home inspectors become certified in the inspection of roofs. At the request of Texas A&M University, Don created and taught a course which was attended by architects, engineers, and home inspectors. The participant’s passing rate on the state exam was reported to be 100%!

Don created a similar course for the Texas Association of Real Estate Inspectors in 1985, and has provided course instruction for TAREI members for most of the last 25 years.

At Austech, Don’s focus was on roof consulting and design and specification of roof replacement projects, primarily for school districts and state and federal government agencies.

Don left Austech in 1991 to form Putnam Construction Consulting.
