I agree with Mathew G.
This is the most honest place. I take my car to be serviced or fixed, and have been doing so for 7 years. I know what they say is true no deceptions or jacked up prices. The cars are there being fixed or you can buy as is. The prices are fair and so are they. Great family business! A mechanic you can trust is worth gold to a single lady.

I am afraid I have to disagree with the previous review. I also am in the market for a low cost SUV or truck to get me from point A to point B around Austin and be able to take big dogs, friends, and car loads of stuff in the process.
Every single vehicle I tested out at Ranger Motors didn’t start, started roughly, or cut out shortly after starting up. When I would take the keys back to the office to let them know, they would tell me «Yeah, we know, it’s on tap to be fixed.» If they know it’s not working, then WHY is it on the sales lot, with price stickers up and the paperwork in the window?
Additionally, a lot of the cars were missing parts. Now I agree with the previous reviewer in the idea that were cars are not going to be gems, but for half the ones I wanted to look at, the problems I immediately saw were: Missing liners, missing dash boards, missing mirrors, carpet torn completely out. One of the cars had NO front seats, instead having two overturned plastic buckets with towels draped over them. Another Jeep I was looking at had four empty beer bottles laying in the back seat. Yet all of these cars were on the lot, stickers, price tags, and selling papers in the windows waiting to be sold.
As for the sales pressure, I can agree there was none — I hardly knew the sales people were there. When I told them what cars I was interested in, they thrust the key and general info paper work into my hand, pointed me in the right direction, and went off to speak to someone else on the phone. I looked at nearly every SUV and truck they had on the lot, and it was the same treatment for every vehicle. Perhaps you can keep the costs low this way, but at least tell me what you know about the vehicle, or be nearby if I have a question, right?
Perhaps something has changed in the past year between these two experiences, and I am not saying they should hide any defects on a car. This goes from behind honest about an imperfect vehicle to being downright lazy and not caring about the image of your company.

This review is long overdue. About a year ago, I was searching for a low-​cost SUV that I could use as a daily driver and haul home repair materials on the weekends. I scoured the web, viewed a lot of «for sale by owner» overpriced cars, and found that the stereotypes of used dealers unfortunately holds true for many lots around town.
Ranger Motors on the other hand is an exception. There are no high pressure tactics, no «let me call my manager on that» conversations. Instead, the real prices are on the window (although they do offer web discounts), and they are upfront about their business model, which is to quickly turn low-​cost, low margin vehicles, and focus on higher sales volume for their profits.
None of the vehicles I looked at were gems (nor should they have been at those prices), but I also didn’t see any of the overt attempts to hide flaws. I found the vehicle I needed there, the transaction was transparent, and everything was very professional. They clearly take pride in their business.
