I am a 43 yr old business owner who works hard and plays hard. I have been an athlete my entire life. I have kids young and old so it’s important for me to stay active and «in motion.» I’ve always said, «Anything worth doing is worth over doing.» My body on the other hand doesn’t always agree. Over the last 5 years I have torn my meniscus, hurt my back several times, and most recently tore my groin playing sand volleyball. As with all my injuries, my pain was keeping me up at night and preventing me from working. After a round of pain meds and feeling awful I decided to make an appointment with Dr Bomben. I walked out of my first appointment with a realistic plan for recovery and more importantly he gave me hope. Each appointment after was un-​rushed loaded with information, education and intense therapy that worked. Because of his therapy I am sleeping and my body is back in action.
Dr. Bomben is clinical yet pleasant. He is very intentional during each phase of therapy. I would highly recommend Dr Bomben.

Dr Ross is great. I’m a runner who has suffered from nagging injuries (mostly from over training). Dr Ross understands the issues and gets me back in action quickly. He really gets the mindset of an athlete and cares about his patients’ success. His staff is super friendly and helpful too. If you’re in pain and haven’t been able to find a solution, go see Dr. Ross.

Summary — I would recommend Dr. Ross Bomben to ANYONE with pain (mild to severe), and in my case, especially for pregnant women. He is a great listener and really thinks through what could have caused the pain, and he explains the scientific aspect of your injury (not just treats the pain) so you know how to work through it and even prevent it in the future. He has a thorough understanding of the changes and differences you need to consider for a pregnant woman’s body, which made me feel very comfortable with his recommendations and chiropractic services.
The full background — I was referred to Dr. Ross Bomben by my obstetrician about halfway through my pregnancy due to severe neck pain. I had no idea what was causing it, but I couldn’t even lift my purse or turn my head side to side without having shooting pains in my neck. I was hesitant to go to a chiropractor because of a previous negative experience with a different chiropractor years earlier, but I knew I needed help so I made an appointment.
He listened to all of my symptoms, did a few movement-​related diagnostic tests and felt the different parts of my neck, then had me move my neck in different ways to see if they made the situation better or worse. Based on all of that, he was able to clearly explain what was happening and used a model spine to explain it. He gave me exercises to do, along with recommendations of ice and rest, and said he wanted to see me again in 24 hours.
Within 24 hours, my neck was significantly better, and over the following two weeks I went from severe pain to minimal/​no pain by continuing to work with him. I’ve now worked with him through the remainder of my pregnancy from a preventive perspective and overall healthy pregnancy perspective.

I’m not one to write a review; however, Dr. Ross Bomben is one exception. At the time I started seeing him I was not able to run past 3 miles because of major knee pain, on both knees. I had done physical therapy for almost a year previously because of the knee pain. I suffered a ski accident about 5 years prior where I hurt both knees. The pain at times was excruciating and I was unable to walk, run or go upstairs. Physical therapy helped where I could move more easily, but the pain was still there. Unable to figure out what was wrong, the therapist referred me to a surgeon who wanted to operate on both knees. The surgeon tried two shots of cortisol in both knees but nothing, pain still continue. I sought a second opinion from another surgeon and he told me he did not feel comfortable completing a surgery because the pain was not in just one place and the MRI did not show any ruptures, so as you could see I was out of luck. I was told several times to just quit running, but I kept looking for other avenues until I met Dr. Bomben. Dr. Bomben knew exactly how to treat both knees and I am HAPPY to say I am PAIN FREE today. He took the time to understand my condition and explain in detail what I needed to do. He is not afraid to take out his text book and explain to you where the pain is coming from. Dr. Bomben helped me run, hike and do all the things I was unable to do before. While seeing Dr. Bomben I was able to train for a half marathon and hike 45 miles up the Grand Tetons. From not being able to walk at times to actually running 13.1 miles in 2hrs 12 minutes you know he must be AMAZING!!! He has a great positive outlook on things; he cares about his patients as if they were family! I recommend him to anyone who is suffering from pain regardless of what it is. I know he is one of a kind type of doctor!

I have had knee pain from my IT band for years. I basically gave up distance running because of it. I wanted to run the 3M half marathon, and to make a long story short, Dr. Bomben helped me achieve that goal! You can tell the first time you meet him that he understands athletes and knows how the body works, especially during sports activities.

Dr Bomben and his team are one of a kind. As a runner, I’ve had various neck, back, knee and foot issues for years and he is the only practitioner I’ve met who combines the perspective of a world-​class athlete with deep expertise and superb bedside manner to provide permanent solutions vs temporary stop-​gap fixes. Any time I’ve been sidelined, Dr Bomben has always gotten me back on my feet, and ultimately in better shape than where I started. The mix of chiropractic care plus onsite massage team is the bomb, and I can always get in to see them when I need to. Run, walk, crawl or whatever you have to do to get there!

I have lifted weights for 35 years and have had a variety of injuries and subsequent visits with doctors, PT’s, massage therapists, rolfers, and chiropractors. Unfortunately, few of them have ever provided any relief.
Recently, an old recurring back injury flared up. I rested it for about 3 months to no avail. I then saw my physician who recommended physical therapy. I found a popular therapist (not Dr. Bomben), dutifully made all the appointments, and did all the home exercises, but nothing changed. I then visited a Physiatrist (rehab MD) who gave me a shot of cortisone. That, too, failed.
Finally, after 6 months of futility, I visited Performance Therapy Group. Dr. Bomben performed some quick tests and immediately surmised that it was likely a simple case of built-​up scar tissue. After a series of in-​office massages, my problem cleared up in a matter of weeks. I wish that I had met Dr. Bomben 15 years ago when this problem first appeared.
Finally, Dr. Bomben has the best bedside manner of any doctor or therapist that I have ever encountered. I use him as a maintenance doctor for other injuries (he showed me a simple self-​massage technique that completely cleared up nagging elbow pain) and continue to get regular massages from his therapists.
I could not recommend him more highly.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Bomben for a few years now and time after time I walk of his office feeling significant improvement in whatever was ailing me at the time. My issues have ranged from headaches to plantar fasciitis, but most recently my GP had diagnosed me with tennis elbow. After following standard GP protocol and seeing little improvement I decided it was time to see Dr. Bomben again. I went in, and as always, listened to what I had to say, provided insight as to what he thought the real issue was, performed a few ROM tests and began to treat me, working on the area and further confirming his initial assessment. I walked out of his office with improvements in my arm pain.
Having someone who genuinely cares about his patient’s health is the reason I continue to return to Dr. Bomben. There is nothing better than having someone you trust and dedicated to work on you.

Dr. Bomben is, hands down, the best chiropractor in Austin. I have tried quite a few and there isn’t a better diagnostician and treatment expert out there.
He was recommended by my trainer for some lower back and then hip issues I had been having. I am well on the road to full activity and this coming after an orthopedic surgeon wanted to just give me a shot versus fix the problem.
If you are on the fence, just go do it! You will not regret it.

The absolute best chiropractor in town. He has solved most of my many injuries and if doesn’t feel like he can fix it, he is always quick to tell me so and send me to the right place that can fix it. There is no one I trust in town more for advice and quick and last relief from injuries.

While I am not an athlete, I fancy myself a relatively active person. I love to exercise and keep in shape, but for years had been plagued by shin splints that appeared anytime I ran more than a day or two a week. I tried every solution I could find: stretching, adding distance very (very) slowly, and walk/​run intervals but nothing worked. I was on the verge of deciding that my body just wasn’t made for running when I found Dr. Bomben. After a thorough exam and explaining the problem, Dr. Bomben performed active release technique on my calves. In addition to ART, he showed me exercies I could do at home and how to use a foam roller. After four sessions of ART, I no longer had problems with my shin splints. I still consistently use a foam roller after a run but I’ve never had problems again. As a warning, and as other Unilocalers have noted, ART is quite painful. But it works, and after years of dealing with shin splints, I was more than willing to accept a few uncomfortable minutes to eventually be able to run pain free.
I wish that Dr. Bomben was a family physician that I could go to even without an injury. He is thorough in his exam, explains exactly what the problem is and how he plans to treat it. He is the consumate professional, but is relaxed in his manner with patients. When I first went to him, he said that his goal was to treat me so that he wouldn’t have to see me again and it worked! I appreciate his emphasis on home treatments, and training his patients to care for themselves. I only wish that finding care such as this was not an exception — all doctors should care for and interact with their patients the way Dr. Bomben does.
And even though I hope I won’t find myself injured again, if I do, I know where I’ll be. I cannot reccomend his care highly enough.

I visited Dr. Ross after experiencing pain in my hip flexor for three long months. The injury was caused while running my first marathon. I tried various techniques at home, until I finally just gave in. After two visits with Dr. Ross, I was a new women!

Plagued with a mysterious injury, which prevented me from running for four months, I was desperate. Especially desperate because I was going to Europe in two weeks, and was bummed at the thought of not being able to run and explore the towns. Self-​treatment was not working because I did not know what the exact cause of the injury was, or what to do to correct it. So I looked up a doctor who deals with sports injuries.
It took Dr. Bomben ten minutes to figure out the problem. Ten minutes! Why didn’t I go to him four months prior? I told him my crazy goal of wanting to be able to run in two weeks, and Dr. Bomben appeared confident that the goal would be reached. He knows the structure and mechanics of the body so well that all he has to do is poke around to determine the issue.
Long story short, I had extremely tight calves, which Dr. Bomben treated with Active Release Technique over three office visits. He also recommended exercises and stretches. Immediately, things improved, and I ended up running (and walking/​hiking) many kilometers through Denmark, France, and Switzerland!
If anyone I know ever has an injury — not necessarily sports-​related — I recommend they see Dr. Bomben right away. I will be going back soon for a sports massage.

The downside to sport & fitness is injury. The upside to injury is Ross Bomben and ART.
Those of us in sport and fitness understand all too well the wear and tear the human body takes
on the field. But even off the field, people find themselves with nagging or chronic pain that
can be relieved given great chiropractic care, targeted soft tissue treatment, and the right doctor.
That’s why i send all my clients to Dr. Ross Bomben.

I really didn’t know what to expect when I first went to see Dr. Bomben… I didn’t hold chiropractors in particularly high trust, but I was told that he would focus on ART (active release therapy, I think) and not on spinal adjustments. My hamstring was killing me, and had been for months, so I just bit the bullet and went. Ross went right in and started mashing hard on the hamstring (in particular, all of the scar tissue that surrounded it). I won’t lie and say that it felt good… it hurt like crap. But immediately after I started seeing him, the hamstring started feeling better. It took more visits than I anticipated, but after 9 or 10 visits, he finally got to the last bit of deep tissue scars that was bothering me and broke it all up. My hamstring has been feeling great since then! I highly recommend Dr. Bomben if you are willing to suffer a little bit of torture in exchange for your healing. If you are have a low pain threshold, then this might not be for you.
