Dr. Gallagher is a fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon who has been practicing in Austin, TX, since 2012. His fellowship was at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, CA, in Lower Extremity Reconstruction. This consisted of a year of intense surgical training beyond orthopedic residency in knee, hip, and ankle joint replacement using computer navigation and minimally invasive techniques, joint preserving osteotomies for limb malalignment, partial or unicompartmental arthroplasty, cartilage transplantation using fresh osteochondral allograft, complex revision hip and revision knee joint replacements, arthroscopy of the hip, knee, and ankle, and some foot and ankle surgeries.

Sean is the best (yes, you can call him Sean). He took great care of my fractured hip and helped me heal quickly. You’ll feel more like a friend than a patient with Sean. Can’t say enough good things about him!
Office staff is friendly and never had to wait more than 5 minutes to see him.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr Gallagher. He performed rotator cuff surgery on my right shoulder in February 2015. The operation was a complete success. Not only is Dr Gallagher an outstanding surgeon, he is also an outstanding human being. He explained the procedure and the tough recovery in clear, easy-​to-​understand English. He was completely honest about the time and effort it would take for my shoulder to completely heal. I now have 100% of my shoulder mobility back allowing me to resume playing golf nearly every day. Dr Gallagher receives my highest recommendation as an orthopedic surgeon.

Dr. Gallagher did my total hip replacement last year. He did an excellent job. I am a difficult patient as I have several medical problems Lupus with a history of several strokes one which left me paralyzed on my right side (the side I broke my hip). When the ex-​rays were taken it was also discovered that I had broken my hip several years ago and I did not realize that and it had healed. Dr. Gallagher had a great bedside manner. He came to see me everyday that I was in the hospital. He happily answered any questions that I had. He was also very good at explaining my different options and the pros and cons to each one. He made sure that it was my choice what to have done, but outlined the risks and benefits very well. Now one year later I am back to the regular exercise that I was doing before the hip replacement.

I would highly recommend to anyone who has a lower limb injury to visit with Dr. Gallagher. He did a fantastic job in fixing my leg after I broke it in four places while playing soccer on July 28th. I apologize in advance if this is too long.
My injury was probably very similar to the Louisville basketball player’s broken leg in the 2013 NCAA Tournament (but minus the compound fracture and the puking of nearby spectators)…basically, it was a very bad leg break. During my visit to the ER, my ER doctor specifically recommended I set up an appointment with Dr. Gallagher saying he was one of the best orthopedic surgeons in Austin and he considered him a «badass».
After Dr. Gallagher laid out all the treatment options, it was decided to do surgery. In addition to surgery, Dr. Gallagher made a number of recommendations that would allow me to begin walking again within 10 – 15 weeks. The earliest date I would be walking by was October 10 and the latest was November 14. By the way, it should be noted I am 37 years of age and don’t have the advantage of healing like younger people.
I think a timeline would be appropriate to describe what happened next. This is what happened as result of the surgery and Dr. Gallagher’s recommendations.
August 1-​Surgery
September 13-​Cleared to Walk (cleared to walked within 6 weeks of surgery and beat the earliest date by a month)
October 3-​biked to ACL and walked extensively around Zilker.
October 10-​hiking the Greenbelt up to 3 miles per trip. (First day that it was anticipated I would be walking by)
October 31-​November 10-​visited San Francisco, Redwoods and the Pacific Coast. Hiked up to 4 miles a day and and did an 8 mile bike ride that took me across the Golden Gate Bridge.
November 13-​ran 1.5 miles
November 14−(15 week mark to being cleared to walk).
I was cleared to walk within 6 weeks instead of 10 – 15 weeks as a result of Dr. Gallagher’s surgery and following his treatment plan. I understand everyone is different and I do not want to create any unnecessary expectations, but I wouldn’t be doing these things if not for Dr. Gallagher. He told me what to do and it worked.

I fractured my left ankle and was really worried sick about it. But I could trust Dr Sean Gallegher. He is truly what a doctor should be to his patients. He was calm, confident, attentive to details and looked like he knew what he was doing. He wanted me to wait one week, so all my swellings would go away and we could take a more informed decision whether to go for surgery or not. And guess what, I didn’t had to get that surgery. The best part was that I could trust him. I wish him all the best. Although I wish I may never need his help ever again, but if I have to, he will always be my first choice.

I couldn’t be happier with the results of my bilateral hip replacement by Dr. Sean Gallagher, of All Star Orthopedics. I am so grateful for for his skills as a surgeon and his reassuring human presence, both before and after surgery. He offered to replace both hips at the same time because they were so bad, and reassured me that he had done this longer and more challenging surgery before. He recognized my fear and told me, in a way that deeply reassured me, «I’m going to take good care of you.» And he did, emotionally and most important, physically. I wanted an atmosphere of calm and healing in the OR. He was receptive to reading healing statements I supplied both him and the anesthesiologist during the surgery, (i.e., «You know how to manage bleeding and will bleed very little.»), and was comfortable with me listening to music, birds chirping and recorded healing suggestions on earphones while I was anesthetized.
The staff of his office, especially the nurse, Kaylee, have been wonderful. I never waited more than a few minutes to be seen.
The results of the surgery have been beyond expectation: Six days after surgery I went to a movie in a mall and later negotiated two flights of stairs. Three weeks out I am walking indoors without assistance (small steps getting longer), and can negotiate the supermarket taking long steps, pushing a cart for a bit of support.
I must admit I am fussy about doctors and interviewed several before choosing Dr. Gallagher formy procedure. I give him my highest recommendation.

Dr. Gallagher is an a remarkable health-​care provider. As an orthopedic surgeon, he is beyond knowledgeable. He diagnosed a condition that had gone unseen by a handful of physical medicine doctors and at least one other orthopedist. I wouldn’t trust another surgeon in Central Texas other than Dr. Gallagher with my treatment. He is honest, and has a professional yet caring manner that is rarely seen in the orthopedic world. He is an all around standout physician, a stellar surgeon, and he will be square with you about what can be treated with surgery, and what your real options are. He is incredibly engaged in the care of his patients. Here is a doctor who is everything a good doctor should be – he’s truly what any medical school would want in a young doctor, and what a patient would hope to find in an educated, highly trained, confident and compassionate physician and surgeon.
