Mesquite Grilled Tex Mex
History
Established in 1987.
Adan «Chef Adam» Gonzales is a native Texan, born in San Juan in 1959. His family moved to the Austin area when Adam was
one year old, settling in the historic Menchaca (Manchaca) community just south of Austin. Adam has since traveled to many
destinations all over the world, but his heart and home are still in South Austin.
Serranos was started in 1987 amid a terrible Austin recession, Chef Adam had confidence in his concept, which was unique at the time. And so Café Serranos was started, offering the first mesquite-grilled fajitas and hand shaken margaritas in Austin.
Twenty five years later, Café Serranos still sets standards for quality in Austin-style Tex-Mex food, from mesquite grilled specialties to classic combo dinners.

Chef Adam G.
Business Owner
Adam’s extensive travels throughout North, Central, and South America, as well as France and Italy have always been in pursuit
of great wine, spirits, food and trophy fish. An avid saltwater fly fisherman, Adam has traveled to some of the most exotic and
isolated spots in the Americas. Wherever he goes from the Agave fields and distilleries, the most humble beachfront estancia,
urban Mercado, or elegant restaurant, Adam is checking out the food, visiting the kitchen, talking with foodies, talking with
chefs, talking with cooks, finding out how his meal is cooked, and the ingredients that go into it.
