Small Wonders Puppet Theater is a travelling puppet theater. We come to your facility with High quality, interactive, musical review puppet shows designed to engage children of all ages. We offer a variety of fun puppet shows performed with handmade, beautifully constructed hand puppets. Our owner is a 35 year veteran of teaching elementary art in the Austin public schools as well as puppeteering for 25 years. Small Wonders Puppet Theater has special Birthday party packages, as well as shows for special events and large audiences. History

Established in 1981.

Joan Klasson made her first puppet in 4^th grade at P. S. 92 in Brooklyn N.Y. She always loved puppets! Small Wonders Puppet Theater began in 1981 when Joan Klasson, founder and head puppeteer was teaching puppet making to her Elementary School, art students. She was invited to attend a meeting of the Puppet guild of Austin at the Public Library. Challenged by the group to create an entire puppet show. script characters, scenery, props, music and present it to the puppeteers of the Southwest, Ms. Klasson wrote her first show «Learning to Live Together». she has been writing, building and preforming ever since!

Business Owner

Joan Klasson, Business Owner, artistic director and head Puppeteer, was born and raised in Brooklyn N.Y. She was introduced to puppetry by a 4^th grade teacher in P. S.92 who encouraged all her student s to create and preform. Hooked! Ms Klasson later attended Boston University School of Fine and Applied arts as an Art major/​painter, she completed her education at the University of Texas in Austin as a Fine arts major and art education major. In 1978, she was hired by the Eanes Independent school district as an Elelmentary school art teacher K-​5 pre K and Special ed art. her students (every grade) made puppets and preformed every year. A joyful experience for all and the launch of Ms Klasson’s Small Wonders Puppet Theater. The company has preformed at schools, museums, department stores, festivals, the Governor’s Mansion, ACL, Store openings, child care facilities Theaters and birthday parties
