Great trail. Entrance is tucked between two houses across the street from the park’s playscape. The stairs down are a little steep but after that you can go left or right. Left is a little more challenging. Right is fairly flat but a longer trail.

Thank god for Cotton’s review or I would have walked around what looks like an average paved neighborhood park forever. I walked and lurked creepily near the houses until I found the entrance off the road. It’s totally unmarked so look for a little break in the trees and what looks like the beginning of a trail. This trail was surprising. I had no idea that it existed nor that it was so long. I ran into just two other people while I was hiking around and it’s pretty picturesque. Big trees and a windy trail into sunny pastures back into darker denser spots. I’m just beginning to explore these north Austin treasures and this one is definitely a new fave.

This was a great hike for our family and two dogs! We had a difficult time finding the trail access point at first, but Colton F.‘s directions were right on target(unfortunatly I didn’t take very good notes of how to find the trailhead!). We have a 14 year old son and 9 year old daughter that especially enjoyed this hike. After descending the steps down to the valley, we chose to go left at the«Y». Towards the end of the trail(I guess it was the end– it didn’t seem to go much further) we came to a bunch of big rocks that we all climbed around on. We allowed our dogs to go free at this point so they could easily climb too. We turned around and went back to the«Y» and continued on. There were several tree forts that my son absolutely loved! I’m not sure who built these forts, but they were a great find for two adventurous kids! The dogs enjoyed the cool running water and we all enjoyed the shade that the trees provided. It seemed very secluded and we only came across one other hiker. Riding a bike on this trail would be very difficult, unless you have some sort of super shock absorbing springs! I highly reccommend this trail, especially for adventure seeking kiddos!

A couple of weeks ago after we had some storms and still had stormy Skies I had a surreal experience here. It was around 6PM and I ventured out with my Pup for an evening hike… The sun was trying to peek out and it had a hard time to challenge the mood of the day… We did the entire trail about 3 miles and it was filled with Fire Flies on the way back! I highly recommend this place for an evening hike.

A nice neighborhood hiking trail West of St. Edward’s Park. The mileage is around 1.3 miles one way or twice that as an in and out walk. Dogs and bicycles are fine here though I have yet to see a bike. My usual entry point is a wooded trailhead between several homes below the tennis courts at Mountain View Park. For you tennis types, the courts look very good as well. Relatively easy trail once you are in the valley. Most of the trail is shaded which is good! Nicely stepped and traversed trail down to valley… A nice after a meal kinda hike… See the Austin Explorer site for good directions… The address number listed is not a real address but lines up well for the trailhead on the Google Map used by Unilocal… \
