Stand up paddling is such a good exercise! I like it a lot. =) Just standing on a surfboard, paddling, and keeping your balance is a sport!

Went Saturday and it was awesome. Great spot and really not as hard as you would think. Anyone can do this.

SUP is awesome! They donated their time, man-power, expertise, and equipment to 10 kids and 10 Big Sisters of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Texas recently and everyone had the best time. Kids were asking could their mentors take them again and we as staff had a blast. Thanks Austin Paddle Sports/SUP for providing this exciting opportunity to the kids in our program and their mentors. Everyone should check it out because anyone can do it!!!

I went SUPing for the first time with a friend last week. Since you’re not actually submerging yourself in the chilly water, it’s the perfect way to get some«pre-season» lake action. Tim with SUPATX was super. I got his number from RunTex on Lake Austin Blvd. He answered right away, and agreed to meet us at the time that worked best for us. He was there early waiting for us when we arrived at RunTex. Since we were beginners, he took a few minutes to explain the basics to us. He helped us carry our boards down to the shore and gave us a quick lesson. Within minutes, we were SUPing down Lady Bird Lake. It’s relaxing, beautiful(hello, you’re SUPing right along the trail and gorgeous Austin skyline), and fun. It’s also a great core workout. I’m an avid Austin outdoor enthusiast… and we had a blast. I’ll definitely be spending more time on the board! Cost: $ 10⁄2 hour– per person What to wear: Swimsuit, maybe shorts(you probably won’t fall in, unless you decided to test your on board dancing abilities– in which case your friend might fall in too– laughing at you)

This is the ultimate way to experience the lake in ANY season! My first experience was a beautiful day in FEBRUARY! A great way to get up close & personal with the beautiful city of Austin, and get a great core workout along the way! Consider SUPATX on the ToDo/See list if you come to visit me in Austin! Easy enough for anyone and enjoyable for everyone! =)

My roommate and I tried out the free lessons Saturdays at 10. They meet at RunTex now, not right by the water, as they used to, so take note. Jeff explained how to start out kneeling, then get up. Then he showed us a little steering. It’s much easier than I thought(I’m pretty klutsy), gives you a great workout, and is so peaceful. I plan to go back and rent soon!

Free, Free, Free!!! Great workout and loads of fun. I just wish the website would let you know times to rent and prices vs calling RunTex and asking to speak someone. 20 dollars for two hours!
