History

Established in 1990.

Study Breaks was originally founded in 1990 by Gal Shweiki when he was an undergraduate at the University of Texas. The magazine became immediately successful, allowing Gal to create and later run his own publishing and media company, Shweiki Media.

The magazine was then run from Austin by several different teams over the years. Recently, Study Breaks headquarters relocated to San Antonio to allow Gal to once again become involved with the magazine.

With a new editorial, design, and sales team, Study Breaks has reinvented itself in order to better represent the voice of the modern college student.
