Specialties

Personal service with a smile and a thank you is alive and well. Tarrytown Pharmacy has been serving West Austin residents for over 70 years and we are proud to be a fixture in our community. We provide prescription services and honor all insurance contracts as well as offer immunizations and a large selection of over the counter medications. The gift section at Tarrytown Pharmacy carries home décor, jewelry, candles, bath lines, and much more. We also have the largest selection of American Greeting cards in all of central Austin.

History

Established in 1941.

Tarrytown Pharmacy opened its doors on December 6th, 1941, the day before Pearl Harbor. Tarrytown Pharmacy continues to be owned and operated by the Newberry family — the third generation owner Mark Newberry, and his wife Leslie Newberry, are continuing in Brian and J.D.‘s traditions of service, community, and dependability.

Tarrytown Pharmacy has been a backbone of the neighborhood, and the Austin community, for over 70 years. We regularly donate merchandise, time, and funds to local schools and charities and we pride ourselves in our community service — service that begins with our customers. We know their names and their families, and they know ours. Many of them have been shopping with us for five generations and we value their trust and loyalty.

Meet the Business Owner

Mark N.

Business Owner

Mark Newberry is the grandson of J.D. Newberry and son of Brian Newberry, former owners of the store. Mark is a 1996 graduate of Austin High School, who went on to complete undergraduate studies at Texas Christian University, and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy in 2003.

Mr. Newberry is a member of the Bachelors Club of Austin, the Admiral’s Club, and sat on the Admissions Committee for the University of Texas College of Pharmacy for five years. After his five year tenure on the admissions committee he was asked to sit on the Dean’s Advisory Council for the College of Pharmacy. He will be the President of the Dean’s Council for a 2 year term beginning in the Fall of 2013.

When he’s not working at the store, Mark enjoys training for his new found love of triathlons and spending time with his wife, Leslie, and twin daughters, Morgan and Taylor.
