For years I took my car to an (ahem) very common national lube place and was never really impressed by the staff, who were never the same people as last time I came by. They seemed like nice enough folks but they always tried to upsell me and find other things to fix, even if they didn’t really need to be fixed. I thought I was saving a little money until, one day, when I stepped on the gas, my engine made a very loud, very bad sound.
On a friend’s recommendation, I brought my car to Tech One to take a look. The guys gave me the straight story — my engine had been burning oil, probably for a year or longer, and the oil change guys that I had been using never noticed that it was running on almost nothing. Even though the checklist that they gave me after every oil change said everything was a-​ok.
When my new engine, installed by Tech One, was ready for its first oil change, I figured I’d bring it in. They changed the oil, gave me a ride to work and called when it was ready. I braced myself for the invoice and was very pleasantly surprised (and disappointed in myself) when I saw that an oil change here was not only more thorough than the other guys but it was cheaper! And no annoying upselling! They tell it like it is and treat you right.
Now, this is the only place that I’ll bring my car. For anything.

Took my car here for an oil change and asked that they take a look at my belts/​hoses after during a state inspection elsewhere, I was told I needed a new timing belt. I am no expert, but I knew my car has a timing chain instead of a belt. The guys here were quick, fairly priced, and honest that my car didn’t need any additional work. I found my new favorite place to bring my car to.

Trent diagnosed my problem and gave me an honest, fair estimate for repairs. While there i also got an oil change and state inspection. Other car repair shops could learn a lot from Tech One. They will have all of my future business.

Very impressed with Tech One’s integrity. Maybe it’s just that I’ve been burned by the Honda maintenance people so many times, but this was refreshing.
I’m used to being up sold, over charged, and pressured into signing things before I have time to look into it. Tech One is different. I didn’t actually get any service done, because they looked at my car and realized it was beyond what they do there (it was a problem with the muffler, and it required welding, which they don’t do). So the referred me to a muffler shop which also has really good Unilocal reviews.
Tech One could have tried to find something else wrong with my car or charge me for a diagnostic, but they didn’t. I’m impressed with their honesty and I’ll likely be back when my car has a problem that they can fix.

An honest auto shop, they won’t gauge you or tell you that you need unnecessary repairs. Really prefer this shop over First Texas Honda, which charges $ 90 to diagnose a problem even when they’ve already got your car up and are changing the oil. Took it to Tech One and they put the car up, gave me diagnosis within 40 minutes, told me it should be covered by Honda warranty (it was), and didn’t charge a cent. I’ve since taken my Accord there regularly and couldn’t be happier.

I’ve never found a place as honest and competent as the people here. Their prices are very reasonable and they are responsive, communicate clearly and do the job timely.
I really can’t recommend them more.

Great customer service. They’ll explain what’s needed and why and they will not suggest repairs that aren’t needed or can wait a bit. Use them for oil changes so you get to know them — rates are competitive.

Tech One has been fabulous! The first time I went, I had torn something off the bottom of my car and had a very tight time window to get it fixed. They fit me in right away, and were able to fix it immediately! As a huge added bonus, they didn’t even charge me, which totally made my day and was so kind! Then this morning, my car didn’t start just as I needed to be at work to see clients. Because of their previous great service, I called them, and they again fit me in right away, gave me a loaner car so I could get to work, and provided prompt service and great communication. I will come back here every time my car needs work!

I like the guys here at Tech One. My wife and I have been bringing our cars here for the past 3 – 4 years, and I find the staff to be very friendly, honest, and helpful. My wife feels the same, and she never feels intimidated about «car stuff» whenever she brings her car in. Like any responsible mechanic, they will tell you if they do find anything wrong, but they will never push you into doing anything you didn’t come in for to be begin with. Best part, they will often times provide an estimate in case you would like to plan and save up money for the repair. I’ve been to dozens of auto repair shops, and I like they’re approach with customers best in regards to explaining additional repairs needed.
I love that you can schedule an appointment ahead of time. While you wait, they offer free coffee and sodas, and the waiting room also has free wifi.
Great staff here at Tech One. Fair, honest prices. I will definitely be supporting this locally owned business for years to come.

These guys replaced a headlight and a brake light on our two cars for free today in under 20 minutes. They are very friendly and honest. We won’t be going anywhere else for minor or major repairs.

Fast and honest service. Most recently brought my car here for an inspection. They had me in and out in no time. Friendly and professional.

Got my inspection done here and they have great customer service and prices.

Now they provide a loaner car which makes them more convenient.

First off, it’s a really comfortable place to wait while you’re car is worked on. They have two very comfortable couches. Second, the staff is very courteous and professional. Third, the prices are great!

Cars aren’t really my thing. Like, I just want it to drive, okay? So when I have to do adult-​y stuff like inspections, I pick the easiest spot. In the past, I’ve gone to a wham-​bam-​chain. Never again. Tech One is my fave forever and ever.
I called and made an appointment easily for an oil change and an inspection. Their waiting area is clean and spacious with two comfortable couches, a soda machine, a television, free wifi, a table with coloring books & colors for kiddos and outlets. They’ve got all the stuff covered that I normally look for. Even the bathroom has nice TP. TMI? Never.
The spot is owned by two brothers and has been for 15 years. David was my primary contact and he was really kind. The cost for an inspection and a synthetic oil change was $ 93. Pretty average cost with above average service. If you need either of these services, these guys are a good choice.

I went to see techone auto back in april /​may to get an oil change and to double check somethings the dealership told me needed to be fixed. I made the stupid mistake of showing them what all they said was wrong. Of course they come back and confirm all of these things are need to be done and added on a battery needed to be replaced

I only got the cabin filter replaced bc mainly i couldnt afford any of the other crap.
I take my car to firestone (i have a credit card for them) & they call me and say only they see wrong is i need new wiper blades. They said tires battery & brakes were good. I did mention to them what the dealer and this place told me and expected them to jimp on the band wagon
So now my head is spinning, so i take my car back to the dealrship to see if i need a new battery and it checks out fine.
So four months later I take my car to jiffy lube to get an oil changed and asked thier opinion on how my tires looked and he stated they were fine.
I feel like they seen i was a female who was clueless and took adavntage of that. I came to them bc i didn’t trust the dealer and now i would never take my car back to them.

I took my son’s Toyota Corolla in for service for a noise that was coming from under the hood. We just bought the car from CarMax less than 30 days ago, but they couldn’t get us in for an appointment until mid-​August. I read such great reviews on Unilocal about how quick, friendly and honest they were with customers. So we took the car in this morning because my son needs his car for work.
David called me back this afternoon and said the issue was something had come a loose under the something… it was all greek to me. :) He told me that it would cost about ~$ 100 bucks to fix. I told him that I would just wait and take it to CarMax since it was still under warranty and he told me that he didn’t want me to have to go through the trouble and wait for them to fix and he would tighten up whatever was loose at no charge.
I so appreciate his customer service and will definitely bring the car back for service. You have a customer for life.

Where do I even begin to tell the tales of the above and beyond stellar service at this place?! I moved to Austin 7 months ago and I was leery that I’d find an auto shop as great as the place I left behind in Minneapolis. Lucky me, Tech 1 is just up the road from where we moved and their great Unilocal reviews lead me to give them my business. After driving 2 cars (an ’08 Prius and a ’99 Lumina) cross country oil changes were soon needed and that’s where my journey began with Tech 1.
I’m always greeted by the friendly folks at the front desk, never feel rushed or like I’m an inconvenience. The customer service makes you feel like you have friends and family taking care of you and looking out for your best interests. No over charging or pushing unnecessary repairs/​products; just to the point and honest. They let me know if there’s issues that may need to be addressed in the near future, the cost and answer any questions I have with patience and sincerity. Also, the waiting room is very comfortable and stocked with coffee, water and I believe at least one vending machine.
Here’s where they really knocked my socks off to the moon. After getting a flat tire about 2 miles away from Tech 1, failing to change the tire myself and dealing with over priced roadside assistance, I called Tech 1. I had no idea if they could help me out but it never hurts to ask. Oh did they ever help! Within 15 minutes they sent the wonderful Arturo over to change my tire on a swampy gross day. He took my tire off, to the shop to repair where a nail punctured my tire, came back and put it back on. Smiling and pleasant as ever the whole time. When I asked what I owed their response was «Oh no we’re not charging you for that.» My jaw must have hit the floor because I still can’t believe they did all that for me free of charge!!!
The next week my old car wouldn’t turn over. Went back and they ran the diagnostics to find that my starter had died. It was time for me to say good bye to the old Lumina and donate her to a better place. I was only charged for the tow to the shop (which insurance reimburses me for) and they were so kind to let me leave my dead car at the shop for charity to pick it up another day.
If I wrote out every interaction I’ve had with the crew at this shop it’d be a mini novel on excellent customer service as well as talented mechanics. Always professional, organized, honest, friendly, easy to get in & out, knowledgable, reasonably priced… Give this place a try and you’ll never go to another shop!

I would trust these guys over just about any other shop in town. They charge me a very fair rate on doing my oil change when I provide the oil and filter, which is kind of rare, most people want to add to the labor cost to make up for what you’re not paying them in upcharges on the oil and filter. These guys only charge me around $ 17.
In the past, they also repaired the AC compressor on my old Saturn by simply replacing the O-​rings on the compressor for around $ 100. That was 3 years ago. It was non-​functional before they repaired it. It has blown cold ever since. Most car repair shops that I have dealt with in the past would not have done this. Instead, they would have gone straight to trying to replace the entire compressor, because that’s where they make their money.
If nothing else, the guys at Tech One are very honest.
If my car broke down tonight and I needed to get it towed somewhere to be fixed ASAP, this is where I would send it.
Unfortunately, if I had some time, this is not where I would go. That’s because, when comparing prices, Tech One is sometimes not competitive. In a few cases, where I’ve called around and gotten quotes on a job, they were quite a bit more expensive than some other shops. I’m not saying they’re not fair. I’m saying that you pay for the quick turnaround, and I can’t always afford it.
If money wasn’t so much a constant issue with myself and my family, I would always use Tech One.
Then again, I have the luxury of knowing a bit about cars. I’m hard to swindle, and I generally know exactly what any repair entails, or at least have the knowledge to know what to look up. Otherwise, I might would stick with Tech One for everything just for the sheer honesty.

So I just recently moved to Austin and I was in need of a trustworthy auto shop to take my car. I saw that this place had a reputable set of reviews here on Unilocal so I decided to give it a shot.
I called to make an appointment on a Monday, took my car in Thursday, and picked up the finished product on Friday. Not a bad turn around in my book, repairs took just over one business day. I ended up getting a neutral safety switch installed and got my brakes replaced/​adjusted. Trent and David were very nice speaking to them on the phone and they had all of my questions answered.
Price for the repair was in the ballpark of what I was expecting so no complaints there. I think I’ll start taking my car in here for future oil changes/​checkups in the future. I’m tired of dealing with the people a Jiffy Lube and the guys here seem to do good work.
Overall a good/​honest repair shop. I will be back.
