Initially, our server was nowhere to be found; fortunately, the manager was on top of it. After we hadn’t been introduced to our server for about 8 mins after sitting down, the manager apologized and took our orders for us. Initially I was a little frustrated about it, but the manager even took the appetizer off our bill without even asking, so the service is great in my book. The ambiance is very nice in the restaurant and the food is delicious. I tried the crab & shrimp stuffed mushrooms which were very unique. Kudos to the chefs for the creativity of the dish. The ribs were also smoky and seasoned well, granted they could’ve used a little extra BBQ sauce. The meat was a little dry, so not the best ribs I’ve ever had, but still pretty good. The broccoli was very bland, so I’d recommend another side. Overall, not a bad place.

After waiting 30 mins for our 3 salads, ½ sandwich and a soup I told the waiter«spoon please» he was running around tending to the large table(which he told us the whole«sorry there’s a large table speech»)and his other tables, he looked over to us and I reminded him«spoon?» He stood there stupefied. I wish I took a pic of the face! It was like when Mr Bean goes«oh no!» This guy was so caught up with all his tables that he even took my plate away even though I was not done eating. On the plus side they did put the salad dressing on the side. I won’t hold the terrible service against this place and I only say that because now that guys reaction is an office joke.

A great experience. Some of the best salmon I have ever had along with quick and polite service. Hard to beat — will look forward to returning.

Ribs were the worst ever. Tasted like bad, dried out meat. Loaded potato barely had any toppings and green beans tasted frozen. Service was good, ambiance was great.

Great service… BUT, the crispy fries were soggy and over salted. The steak sandwich was GROSS. It felt like a low grade hamburger on bun. Very disappointing!!!

This was close to our hotel, so we thought we’d give it a shot. I was your basic, no frills steakhouse. We tried the Jalapeño Brisket Poppers(Good — Spicy), Chips Trio Dip(Good) and I have the Smokehouse Sirloin(Great!) with Broccoli(Normal), Mac & Cheese(Normal) and the Cheesy Jalapeño Grits(OK). It was an overall OK experience.

The interior of this place definitely defines Texas Land and Cattle. Came here with several Co workers for a business lunch. I ordered the salmon lunch special. It came with fresh green beans. It was really good. This place brings out a loaf of bread as a free starter while you wait for your food. It would be great if they actually sliced the bread before bringing it out so not everyone at the table are hassling to cut the bread and getting their hands all over it. I was just trying to show some etiquette so I made sure the part I grabbed and cut was my part of the bread. It was definitely fresh, moist, and delicious. Maybe I was just starving? Either way, it was good and I went thru almost two loaves myself. I would’ve ordered dessert too, but I was too full. I didn’t want to go back to work completely crashed out at my work station. Another lunch treated by my manager with awesome service and good food.

Steaks had absolutely no flavor. Ribeye and NY strip looked and taste like a low quality sirloin. Not impress with food at all. Been to many steakhouses, high to low class places and this has been the worse off all.

I didn’t go in with a lot of expectations. I’m a vegetarian and just went because it was next to the Crowne Plaza(there for work meetings) and I only had time for a short break. I expected to get a salad. I was very happy with the sweet & spicy enchiladas. Instead of using just cheese, or a boring mix of overcooked vegetables, these enchiladas had a lovely blend of sweet potato, black bean, corn, jalapeño and cheese with a chili verde sauce. The food and the service were both great. I would come back again!

OMG There is absolutely nothing good to say about this place. The server was a total idiot. We waited forever just to get our drinks. Then had to ask if he would be so kind to take our food order. Then we got our steaks which were actually cooked correctly but about half way through our meal a cockroach joined us for dinner. If there are cockroaches in the dining room who knows whats in the kitchen. How disgusting! My wife actually went to the bathroom and threw up. I took a picture but I don’t know how to to post it on Unilocal. The only reason we even went to this place is because my boss gave us a gift card. It’s $ 50 bucks I will sell it to anyone for $ 25.

I came in frustrated from the 5pm traffic of I-35, landed here. Happy hour! The crew welcomed me with smiling faces, standard, and I was sat. On to the menu: first thing I ordered was out(Kale Chips) then I went down the line. Pigs in a Blanket, recommended by the server and it was tasty. Jumbo Lump Crab Cake… Tasted not fresh for a seafood dish… It’s my taste probably but I’ll give it a second try. Hill Country Brisket seemed hiding behind the BBQ Sauce… Iffy. Their Famous House Smoked Sirloin was good, it tasted like it was crafted. Then the Dirty Bird… So so. Jordan, my server is ok/cool. And the Hostess or a server(cutie black chick) was warmth enough to «take care» of me with the Crab Cake ordeal. That was cool… Ashley took care of me And the BONELESSRIBEYE: looks good and is pretty good. It came with garlic mash, broccoli, and a side of Brussels sprouts roasted in balsamic vinegar. The price may be debatable for some but for me it’s ok. I don’t give high stars for a first time but may be when my return manifests it self I’ll give this a 4

Chicken biscuit was good! I just wish there was no avocado in it. The French fires was ok needed some salt! But the wait was nothing not even 5 mins on a Saturday in July. Overall the manager came and said hi the waitress was sweet and never lacked on what I needed. Only thing I could change is the a/c is was really cold. The south padre drink was toooooooo strong for my liking and I had to add lime.

My second time at this restaurant but I had the smoked sirloin for the first time(medium rare). It was great! The meat was soft and flavorful. Usually I just cut off the fat surrounding the steak but the thin layer of fat added to the flavor of the steak. My server at the bar was Ashley. She was quick and friendly.

Nice ambiance and friendly staff. Excellent daily specials including $ 3 – 4 delicious craft pints and $ 3 bbq brisket tacos. First time here and i didn’t have a full dinner so my rating is based on this brief experience. I would come here again for a steak dinner, at which time i would update review.

This place tried to play my friend today as they delivered his order to a lady that came in after him. She had ordered a porter house as did he… But he ordered baked potato she ordered mashed. His steak medium and hers medium rare. He was there 10 – 15 minutes before them and they served his steak to her. She cut into it and didn’t like what the center looked like(remember his was medium) they take it back into the kitchen then bring out His plate… Get this they flipped the steak over and tried to serve it to him. He called their BS by flipping it over and showing them the cut mark… ANDTHEMASHPOTATOS! The manager even lied to him too! This place needs some lessons around ethics and health laws too! Texas health department… I have a location that needs inspection!

I’m amending my review and adding a star because the sr. management reached out to ask me if i’d re-evaluate on their dime, which I did. The service was far and away better, but unfortuantely the food is just still abysmal. It’s just your standard, run of the mill, straight off the Sysco truck onto your plate kind of place, and that’s just not for me. I’ve had better at Chili’s and Cheddars before I swore those places off as well. This kind of place is just never going to compete with the kind of craft dishes produced by smaller, locally owned eateries. Good luck. TEXASLAME&RABBLE That should be the name of this unfortunate throwback to the era of Steak & Ale. When the corporate invite for a cocktails and appetizers executive mixer landed in my inbox, I thought, surely this is a typo, and they meant AUSTIN Land and Cattle. I was not alone in this belief as at least one other person had to re-route after discovering that they were headed to the wrong establishment. Unfortunately, the invite was correct, and we were to spend an evening socializing over what amounted to a slop trough, watered down(literally) liquor, and unabashedly poor service. So first of all, I can’t speak to the entire menu as we only had cocktails and appetizers, but they were largely unappetizing, so if you’re looking for an experience where you are compelled forward in the menu to greater portions, enjoyment, and expenditure, I recommend that you not start with appetizers as you’ll likely be waived off of the remainder of the journey. The crab cakes tasted and smelled like a neglected fish tank, and they had the texture of a clump of lukewarm, lightly browned tuna salad. Those little lumps of fishy misery were enough to dissuade me from even trying the ceviche. The queso was your garden variety Velveeta variant, the nachos were passable, but the little bits of steak on them were not fully cut(clumped), and were cold compared to the rest of the dish. The fried onion strings looked so limp that I could not bring myself to put them in my mouth, and the guacamole was little more than mashed up avocado with a sprinkling what I assume was either cotija or parm and parsley since there was no detectable note of cilantro. The best part of the appetizer flight was the avocado half I managed to snag off of the crab cake plate. The cocktails immediately begged suspicion of the bar cutting its liquor with water. Straight Jack Daniels on the rocks should evoke some physical and emotional reaction. The only thing evoked by their cocktails was the memory of what water tastes like when you pour it over ice what was previously used in a cocktail. If they’re going to cut their liquor so unabashedly, they should at least incorporate an element of honesty and humor about it; maybe they could call it «Jack’s Ghost.» The service was slow and unenthusiastic, and once, when our waiter was no more than 5 feet from me, I basically had to act like I was directing traffic on an aircraft carrier to get his attention. I asked for a paper napkin to dispose of my gum, which must have entailed a trip to the nearest paper mill, as it took every bit of 15 minutes to get said napkin. Each round of drinks & appetizers took longer than the previous. I am unceasingly amazed that these artifacts of one of the most uninspiring epoch’s in culinary history still manage to stay open, given the number of interesting, vibrant, and affordable local eateries exist in Austin. Given some of the rabble and their accompanying behaviors that I observed, I guess this is just part of keeping Austin weird, and there being a place and a taste for everyone. I have been in Austin since 1997, straight out of college, and this was both my first and last visit to Golden Corral… I mean Texas Land & Cattle.

I was hesitant because this a chain restaurant but boy was I wrong. After moving to Austin, I really hoped I’d find a tiny mom and pop but Texan Land and Cattle really wins a blue ribbon. Their cuts are perfect and are served exactly to order. This place doesn’t disappoint on their steak skills! The bar leaves something to be desired. Beer options are standard and my mixed drinks were a little too sugary. Not to mention overpriced.
