Specialties
Texas Zero Waste Strategies specializes in assisting businesses with compliance with local policies for establishing on-site waste, recycling and composting, staff and tenant education training programs and timely filing of reports and plans to proper government departments.
In 2011, the City of Austin approved the state’s first Zero Waste Master Plan which dictates residents and businesses will collectively reduce wastes headed to landfills by 90% by 2040.
In accordance with the Zero Waste Master Plan, a Universal Recycling Ordinance (URO) phases in all commercial, multi-family, food and industrial properties, among others, to address diverting discards from area landfills from now until 2017, with more policies to be established beyond.
On October 1st, we will see all commercial businesses between 75K-99,999K sq. ft. and multi-family dwellings with 50 units or more covered under the URO. Smaller and smaller properties will be covered, as well as any business with a food permit.
History
Established in 2013.
Texas Zero Waste Strategies was founded on the notion that Austin area businesses would need help navigating the new Universal Recycling Ordinances recently handed down by local government regarding on site recycling and composting programs.
In order for a business to thrive fully, the concept of the «triple bottom line» must be implemented. This includes companies being responsible ethically, economically and ecologically. The new policies provide opportunities to attain this, but incorporating it into daily or yearly operations and assimilating staff and tenants can be challenging.
Texas Zero Waste Strategies provide as hassle-free program customized for each business that will cover each aspect of the URO policy needed at each property to gain adherence by the October 1st deadline each year.
When businesses breathe a sigh of relief, we know we’ve done our job correctly.
At Texas Zero Waste Strategies we lead businesses down the «Path to Resource Savings».
