Thai Passion is the best thai food option that I’ve found in Austin. Very casual, but delicious. Some favorites are the shrimp spring rolls, tom kha and crab fried rice! The actual restaurant décor is nothing to write home about, but where it lacks is where the food makes up for it! Don’t be deceived by the strip mall location. Staff is always friendly. Eat-in or order takeout. Either way, give them a try!

Had the Green curry and the pad thai. While the pad thai was delicious, the green curry was thoroughly watered down and lacking flavor.

Service was excellent. I’ve definitely had better Thai food though. Prices were decent & my curry was alright. I feel like the place might need a deep cleaning.

Thai Passion — clean your restaurant! Clean your menus! Better yet, print fresh menus. Dried Kunga on the tip of the Siracha? Really!!! Gross. The spring roll was tasty but the uncleanliness made me lose my appetite. Sorry. 1 star for now.

Edible. Nothing bad about it: nothing great either. The shrimp spring rolls were pretty generic. The sauce was as described, peanut — but tasted pedestrian. Ordered a avocado pearl drink. Came out with the appetizer, seemed like a avocado flavored smoothie with tapioca balls. My husband ordered pork vermicelli, was grilled but not sliced through. The fried egg roll that came with was full of carrots, which would be ok if you loved cooked carrots — otherwise, too much. We have come before several times, but not likely to again. The menu changed and it seems like they are trying to do too much and serve all things Asian. Glad we didn’t try the sushi.

We like the Thai passion noodle bowl and basil fried rice! Friendly staff. There is an awesome aquarium too.

this was my go-to place for rice BUT… something has changed, … flavor isn’t as fresh or intense as it has been. They stopped making the chili oil for some reason. the bathroom has been out of order for a year or more and my friend said he saw a roach run across the top of one of the booths but I wasn’t there to witness it. I have placed many to-go orders and they sometimes forget the extra ingredients that I requested and paid extra for. I usually get the fried rice and the flavor is not consistent — sometimes they have a different cook and they tastes changes dramatically.

Went today for a lunch date, definitely pros and cons to this place! See below: Pros: *Great location and fair price! *Friendly waitstaff even when there was a language barrier when asking for extras, the check, etc *Food was hot, tasted fresh, and came out quickly. Cons: *It looks as if it’s under renovations, very bare and with storage in the main restaurant area. *Smells almost like bleach or some other cleaner *Didn’t get the appetizer we tried to ask for *Free soup/salad buffet looked a little dismal, didn’t try it *Sauce on our dishes was very thin/watery Overall it’s not the best Thai I’ve ever had, but it’s also not the worst. We will likely go back sometime, although it won’t be a staple in our restaurant rotation.

Called twice; first time no one answered and it continuously rang, the second time I was on hold for 10 minutes before I gave up and hang up the phone. Never even got to try the food because the service was so poor. Really disappointing that they ignore such an easy part of customer service. Maybe I’ll give them another chance but not any time soon.

I used to love this place. I work nightshift and they were open late, until 3am. They used to have excellent food and the same friendly staff that I came to know well. But yesterday I had a very disappointing experience. First the hours changed. They are only open until 10pm. And they told me and another customer(aka lied to us) that it had been like that for over a year now. Absolutely NONE of the staff was the same. Not the servers or the cooks or the dishwashers! They were out of all beer except Bud Light. What??? And out of half of their menu items. What I was able to order, Pud Thai, was just not the same as it used to be. Sadness. Won’t be returning. :/

Bottom line: I wouldn’t recommend this place if you are looking for great Thai food and/or a nice dinner out. Food is pretty good most of the time, but not 100% satisfying. Good for take-out on a lazy night. I’ve been here mostly because its location is convenient to home for me. The service is spotty. Sometimes the staff is very friendly, sometimes not very pleasant at all. On my last order of Panang Curry for take-out, the serving of rice was enough for about 1⁄3 of the curry. This meant that I ended up making more rice at home to complete the meal. In addition, when I was waiting for my take out to be made, I asked the hostess for some ice water. She gave me a styrofoam cup that was about ¼ of the way filled, with one ice cube in it. Not the best costumer service I’ve experienced, but will most likely return when I need a fast, convenient place to grab dinner.

This place is consistently good Thai food. The last time I went in it smelled of bleach though and that was unpleasant. Décor is bland. Pad Thai is good, and I love the passion rolls– fried cabbage rolls with a tangy sauce. My friends got the padseyu(sp?) and the coconut and red curry something or other, both were yummy. Great for calling in an order to go.

I stopped in because I saw decent reviews. The restaurant itself is pretty basic but the staff is friendly. I was encouraged when I saw a full restaurant and several people picking up take out. I ordered my usual curry dish… couldn’t have been more disappointed. The chicken tasted as if it had boiled and there was little flavor in the runny, lackluster sauce. I agree with some of the other reviewers… anyone giving this place high marks hasn’t had authentic Thai food in a long time. I’ve had better curry from an Asian fusion restaurant in the Cedar Park mall food court…

My daughter and I drove from Dallas for my nephew’s Birthday We picked Thai Passion for the Birthday Dinner with 2 other friends. Gene the owner who moved his restaurant here from Downtown is always there to make sure that all his customers get the best they can offer. We are all impressed and will always come back when we are in Austin.

Thai Passion’s pud-see-ew and and green curry chicken are top notch. I haven’t experimented past these two dishes, but everything always smells and looks good when we go to pick up our orders. They are always polite on the phone and when you place your orders, and the food is always ready to go when you get there. The only thing I would knock is their ambiance. It looks slighty run down and out-dated.

I love the original location, and it’s actually the first place where I experienced Thai food about 15 years ago. I remember my first time fondly. Yum. So my friend and I are out looking for a place(not even a restaurant at this point) open in the wee hours to complete an errand. It’s 2am… we’re thinking Walmart might still be open. Nope. We were planning to go to IHOP(not my fav, but always open — right?), but then ding ding — we see Thai Passion, brightly lit, next to a very dark Walmart. Is it really still open? That’s what the neon sign says. And the posted hours show 3am on a Saturday night. Oh yeah… we’ll have Thai food. We walk in. The place is still open, but we were the only patrons. We were politely greeted and seated, ordered our appetizers and entrees, and were served very quickly. The food was excellent — maybe not quite as good as the downtown location, but it was almost 3am. I will definitely be back now that I have good reason to be in South Austin. 5 stars for being open after the bars close!!!

What I got: shrimp in a blanket, Thai passion noodles, Thai tea Do not come here if you have ever been to an authentic Thai restaurant! You will be severely disappointed. The shrimp in a blanket and Thai tea were good, but the actual entrée was horrible. They don’t use the right noodle for their«vermicelli» bowl and the flavor is bland. My buddy got their«Pud Thai» and the noodles were the same. Save your money and appetite for another Thai place!
