Come on in! The Art Garage is a walk-​in art studio offering over 250 items for paint-​your-​own pottery, clay projects and fused glass. It is a great place to come as a family, with friends or for a date night. Create personalized gifts, beautiful jewelry and best of all, you don’t need to be an experienced artist! Our staff at The Art Garage is happy to show you some tricks to make your one-​of-​a-​kind art look amazing!

Have an Art Party! We offer an art party for all ages and occasions: birthdays, corporate events, showers, mom’s club, scouting, home-schooler’s groups and lady’s night. Our classroom/​party room seats 24, and there is lots of space to spread out in the studio, too! Unique group projects are available: tie-​dye, fused glass, canvas painting, jewelry making and paint-​your-​own-​pottery. So, be sure to think of The Art Garage when you are planning your next celebration!

History

Established in 2011.

Kelly Emmert, the owner, is an art teacher and artist turned stay-​at-​home-​mom. She has always held a love for kids and a passion for art.

In 2008, she began teaching private art lessons and had the first ever Summer Camp held in her garage. «The art garage» grew and grew each year. In 2011, she opened The Art Garage, in far southwest Austin, a place to create and be happy!

The kids had a TON of fun painting the statues they picked out. The wife and I enjoyed painting as well.
Two small issues, though:
1.) The pre-​made statues are a little pricey. We were there for about an hour, and with two small statues and two refrigerator magnets, the cost was about $ 100. That’s too much for 1 hour of fun.
2.) The front desk person did not explain anything. We figured out what to do by watching other customers. I’m still not 100% what the Art Garage is… is it just a place to spend $ 100 in an hour to paint pre-​made figurines? What else can we do there? Do they offer classes? Can we make our own little clay statues, and paint those instead? What about just drawing or painting a picture? The girl at the front desk gave us little trays to put the paint in — that was it. No walk through, no list of offered services, no options on what other art projects were available — she didn’t even show us where the paint was. That was kind of lame.
TL;DR:
I’m Game: Fun place, kids loved it.
Kinda Lame: Expensive; staff not very helpful/​knowledgeable; activities too short for $$$$.

My 6 year old daughter is having a blast at a birthday party. The picture she brought home of a horse she painted is so cute. The kids were creative and engaged. It was highly impressive. I will defiinitely go back soon! They also have painting and wine night, paint your own pottery, glass art and more. Give them a try!

What a fun place! The owner was so incredibly nice and helpful. I took my two, young sons in to decorate tie-​dye shirts and we also made tooth fairy boxes. I saw that they offer some really neat camps for kids. Will have to keep that in mind! So glad they are so close to our neighborhood.

Fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Super friendly staff and my daughter really enjoyed herself. The cool part is your child gets to have fun and then remember their experience forever because a week later you pick up their artwork.

This has been a fun place for my daughter over the last couple years. Now that she’s older, there’s not much for her to do. I wish they had more activities for teens/​tweens besides the standard paint your own pottery. Thanks for the fun times, Kelly!

I highly recommend The Art Garage as a way to spend a few fun hours with family or friends!
This has been a very Art Garage Weekend for our family! Friday night we went over for Fourth Friday, drank Thirsty Planet Yellow Armadillo Wheat (delicious, btw!) and painted some pottery– something I haven’t done since I was a kid! My husband came along and we brought a couple of friends and made it step one on, what will now be a monthly, date night!
The owner, Kelly and her fantastic employee Renai are really great, sweet and helpful, the prices are reasonable and now we’re going to have new soap dishes for our bathroom! I’ve already chosen what I’ll be painting next Fourth Friday!
Yesterday, coincidentally, my daughter was invited to a birthday party held at The Art Garage! She and her friends had an awesome time making their own fused glass pendants and she’s already requested that we have a party for her there, too!
It’s a whole lot of fun in a gorgeous space, in a great location and the A/​C is cold! What more can you ask for?!

The best place to create for kids and adults alike anywhere in the Austin area. My kiddos have gone to camp here every summer since it opened and the new space ROCKS! Ladies night creating glass fusion is so fun and my daughter wants to do the same for her birthday party this year. My son took art classes after school last year and loved it. The projects are incredible. We will keep coming back!
