Description

Specialties

The Children’s Center of Austin is Austin’s finest preschool and educational childcare facility committed to providing top quality care, education and extracurricular activities to children from infancy through pre-kindergarten, as well as after school care for kindergarten through fifth grade and summer camps for children ages five through eight. Class size is the most important factor in education quality; therefore The Children’s Center of Austin keeps pre-kindergarten class sizes four to six students smaller than most preschools. The Children’s Center of Austin offers learning activities with separate classrooms and areas for art, gym, library and reading, computers, Spanish and a highly monitored and secure swimming pool. With curriculum designed to stimulate learning and promote social skills, children rotate through rooms and activities so are not confined to one room all day.

History

Established in 1999.

Family owned and operated in Central Texas since 1970, The Children’s Center of Austin is a family-focused operation with an open door policy and a commitment to work closely with parents for the welfare of the whole family.

Meet the Business Owner

Therese T.

Business Owner

Therese Thompson lives in Austin and is mother of three and owner of The Children’s Center of Austin’s three family-owned and operated preschools. Therese’s passion for childcare and early childhood education dates back to 1970 when her family opened and operated several successful childcare centers in the San Antonio area. Upon moving to Austin, Therese saw that the city was primed for growth and that its busy professionals would be seeking a place where their children would not only be properly cared for during the work day, but would also receive a well-rounded educational foundation. Therese opened The Children’s Center of Austin’s Jester location in 1999 and subsequently opened two additional Austin locations, one in Bee Caves and another in Steiner Ranch.

Previously, Therese was a therapist to adolescents and their families in Dallas, Texas and the Director of Mental Health Services for Sisters of Charity Health Care Network in Galveston, Texas.
