History

Established in 1999.

Piano Wrangler was originally created in 1999 as a piano moving equipment company. Founder Gordon Crail soon discovered that there was a market for specialized piano moving in the Austin area. We’ve been moving pianos ever since.

I’ve worked with the company since 2000 off and on. I’ve tried doing this as a full time job but there’s not enough of a market to make a living wage with this as my only job, so I work a regular 8 – 5 during the week like everyone else.

A lot of people ask me how I got into this line of work. It’s not like I dreamed of being a piano mover as a kid, I just kind of fell into it. I was fortunate enough to have a great mentor and with over 14 years of experience, I’d consider myself to be a master piano mover, if there were such a thing. Our unofficial company motto is «work smarter, not harder.»

Jason is super nice and ridiculously helpful! Pricing is affordable and easy to understand and unlike other moving companies he is a specialist that you can trust with something that is so valuable. This is not like moving a box or coffee tables! I would recommend Piano Wranglers a million times over.

5 stars and more! Jason and the crew were wonderful. They easily moved my vertical piano, and went beyond when I asked last minute for it to moved into another room, which required 2 90 degree turns. They were perfectly on time, efficient and knowledgable. If we ever need the piano moved (to another place or just within the house) I will definitely be calling The Piano Wrangler!

Jason and his crew did a great job with moving our piano upstairs! He was very easy to work with over the phone and in person. He squeezed us in on short notice, he even come early (calling before he arrived). These guys worked quickly but very carefully. They knew exactly what they were doing. Our piano is now upstairs and in great shape. I highly recommend them. Thank you Jason!

These guys do great work!
We needed a baby grand moved and had been given their name as a recommendations. I looked the business up on Unilocal and after reading their reviews it was a no brainer.
We scheduled our appointment time with the understanding that they may be running a little late due to the nature of their work. Piano moving is a delicate process and owners can be time consuming and dare I say demanding?! That said the team showed up as scheduled and went to work.
They were professional, friendly and efficient. Their fees were extremely reasonable given the work they did, their skill set and their professionalism.
Having a piano moved is no small task, it is great to know that should I need to move her again, I can rely on the Piano Wrangler!

We scheduled Jason to come by and move a piano within our house. Everyone else was charging almost double his rate. We of course had come back from vacation and forgotten we scheduled him. He had to wait for us for about 15 or 20 minutes on a nice hot day. But Jason was patient and kind and knowledgeable. He can easily charge double what he does right now. Our baby had a melt down and our dog was constantly in the way but Jason took it in stride. Do not for one instance doubt hiring the Piano Wrangler. Exceptional customer service and exceptional skills all with a smile and patience.

Extremely satisfied. Moved a piano for me a month ago across town within hours of notice.
The kicker: last night, my girlfriend opened our apartment door and left her keys hanging from the lock outside. He happened to be moving a piano nearby, saw it, and sent me a text about it so I don’t get robbed or murdered. Can’t ask for more from a moving service!

He just hired the boys from Piano Wranglers and they were top-​notch! I coordinated with Jason over email and they gave me a 3 hour time window that Saturday afternoon. They arrived right in the middle of the time window with a couple of guys. They were all extremely professional and moved our wall piano from a second floor down in about 15 minutes and had it over to my house and in within another half hour. At the destination, they even added little pads so that the piano would move easily without scratching the hardwood floor.

Solid. Jason and his crew deserve all the 5-​star reviews they’ve already gotten. Pain-​free move of a friend’s antique upright piano to our house for short-​term storage this past weekend. They arrive when they say they will and are extremely efficient — and they aim to please. Pro-​tips: book early and before the end of the month; their calendar fills up quickly — also, they mainly work on weekends only. Our thanks to Jason and his co-​worker for making this transaction a breeze.

These guys were absolutely AMAZING! Incredible manners and know-​how. They moved my piano from my house to my brothers condo and it was a piece of cake for them. (At least it looked that way!) They were on time, efficient, and very professional. I was worried about the steps going up into the apartment, but they had the right tools and technique making it seem so effortless. I will continue to use them in the future and absolutely recommend them.

These guys are simply the best piano movers in all of Austin, bar none. They are the ONLY ONES who can handle the very trickiest of piano moves. I’ve used them twice at my apartment building, which has EXTREMELY NARROW flights of stairs. Three other «official piano movers» came to try to move my piano up & down these narrow stairs, and all the other «official piano movers» completely failed… the piano had to be put back where it came from and wait for someone else to try. But when The Piano Wrangler came out, it was like sliding a hot knife through soft butter… they effortlessly moved my piano up & down the narrow stairs that nobody else could tackle. The Piano Wrangler uses specially-​crafted, one-​of-​a-​kind inventions that no other piano movers in the country have ever seen before, which enables them to effortlessly & easily move any piano through any tricky obstacles… and I’m sure that a non-​tricky move would be an absolute piece of cake for them.
