The Quarters on Campus

There was nothing seriously wrong nor absolutely right about living here. In general, everything balanced out to be average. The service requests were responded to relatively quickly and it was a very quiet environment, but this was overwhelmed with other disadvantages such as the room keys and price per square foot. After doing research on the key company I was informed that Saflok (the company who makes the key cards for all Quarters buildings) manufactures low and high security key cards. Quarters has conveniently purchased the LOWEST quality keycards that are meant for hotels and are easily demagnetized. Mine was demagnetized twice before I bought a protective case for it. The cards are simply not meant to be used for longer than a few nights. The office will realign the magnetization for you, but if you’re locked out when they’re closed you have to pay a fee for them to let you in. I found the cards online for a price of $ 4.55 (
), but if you lose your card Quarters will charge you $ 50 to replace it. Compared to other West Campus apartment buildings, living in Quarters Nueces was one of the better experiences. It’s very nice, but when considering the keys and parking issues (the Nueces house doesn’t have a parking garage, the parking is in a garage fairly close but very inconvenient), it might not be the most convenient place to live. I’ve liked living here because of the quiet atmosphere in comparison to most WC apartments, but it’s not for everyone. I was also disappointed in the move-​in condition of the apartment, as the appliances (washer/​dryer, dishwasher) had not been thoroughly cleaned. But overall I have liked living here, it’s just a matter of preference on the keys, parking, and community. I think you could find a better value with a locator (e.g 512 Realty, 24^th st Realty, Metro Realty, ect.), but in most cases that isn’t convenient.

I wish I could give 0 stars. And also, before reading, there’s a bunch of other reviews that don’t come up on the page unless you click on the part of the page that allows you to view reviews that Unilocal’s algorithms have not identified as recommended, but most are all also 1 star reviews! Please take a look for yourself and see how badly this apartment community treats the people that live here and listen to my experience. On Friday Oct 30^th, 2015 it rained in Austin. By noon my entire SECOND FLOOR bedroom was filled with water and some was seeping out in the living room. I had to move all of my things out of my room, bed, furniture and all, so the carpet could be cut up, pulled off, and «dried out» rather than replaced because the Quarters is too immoral and money hungry to replace the carpet. I couldn’t stay in my own apartment all weekend because workers had to fix the bedroom floor and the surrounding walls from where all the water had seeped up. Obviously none of this way okay but the Quarters thought differently. They believed all of these problems were just due to «mother nature» although the people who removed the carpet told me themselves that this happened due to construction mistakes in the building. I was also not the only room who experienced flooding on my floor. After trying to speak to the Quarters further, they refused to offer a discount or concession on my rent for the month, they refused to help pay for my electricity bill after I had to keep my air conditioning colder than usual all weekend in order to help the repair process, and this was all after the Quarters began charging everyone an extra $ 5 a month for internet even though our lease states they would cover the charges. The Quarters is definitely one of the worst places to live at in West Campus and its leasing office, especially the property manager, Amanda, are the least helpful or knowledgeable people I’ve ever talked to. I encourage anyone looking to live at any of its locations to seriously reconsider before you’re stuck in a lease with them and get screwed over in one way or another. Any high review of any of its locations are usually workers or fake accounts. Don’t be fooled.

This place is ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. If I could give it zero stars I would; hell, if I could give them negative stars I would. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE.
The management is non-​responsive, lazy, and incredibly unprofessional. The only thing they want is your money — and they will do everything possible to get as much from you as they can. I stayed here this past summer through a sublease, and it was a complete mess. When I came into the room, it was trashed: the walls and carpet were filthy, there were mildew stains everywhere in the bathroom, and the ceiling fan had dust all over it. Even after I cleaned the place up (even though they should have done that in the first place), they still charged me a ridiculous amount of money for «damages» that were in the room. I disputed this, and they still said no.
The gym is not actually open 24/​7, even though they advertise this, and the wi-​fi wasn’t even set up when I arrived, another thing they advertised.
At the end of the day, if you are reading this, please listen to the handful of people that have echoed similar comments to me: USE YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE. THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE.

Incredibly difficult to work with these people. No one answers the phone, it take months to return emails, there is severe lack of oversight in how business is conducted. I have not even moved in and I have had issues with this company. I gave specific instructions for my roommate to pick up my file during move in, but the office gave my file to a completely different person. I have no idea how and why they ignored my instructions. I even called their «emergency hotline» to understand the situation but the person who answered seemed apathetic and told me there was nothing she could do. It makes it difficult to trust these people. Very disappointed so far.

I love my apt space-​wise, I just wish there was better service for when there are problems within the apt. I put in a request form at the beginning of the year bc a lot of things were broken, and none of those things have been fixed. I called 3 times to get my garbage disposal fixed, and it was never fixed. My microwave was slightly broken (put in a request) never fixed. I honestly think you can find a better place to live with the same space or even more for the same price or even less. the wifi is not free, you have to buy a router. the maintenance team really does not care. The only time they have come to fix something is when the door key opener battery died, and that is because it was literally a necessity. I also called a week before move-​out asking if they were going to have people helping us move out like they did on move-​in day, because my mom wanted to know if we needed to hire people to help us move out our furniture or not, and the girl I spoke to said yes, there would be. Guess what– there were no movers, and my mom was very angry. For a few positives though, I lived in Cameron house on 27^th and Rio and it was nice to have a parking garage and small gym plus a patio, and it was very close to campus. However, I would never live here again.

I used to never complain about living here because I understand that it’s a west campus apartment so it won’t be the best. They are obviously student housing so I understood the high rates and the subpar amenities. One thing that finally had me write this Unilocal review is that their management is probably the most corrupt out of all West Campus apartments. They own multiple properties so they’re spread thin and they usually take over 48 hours for maintenance requests, even if it’s urgent. (ie: my toilet was overflowing and they did not come for over a day.) They are absolute pigs when it comes to trying to steal all of your money and Brian the manager himself is probably the worst. They could not care less about you as a resident.
Also, upon move out even if you cleaned everything spotless, you’ll still get charged a ridiculous amount.

Conveniently located with easy access to the Quarters Gym. Management does a pretty good job of cleaning up the lobby and elevators, which is definitely a plus for me. Wifi can get a little slow, but it improved the past semester when it was upgraded.

This place blows. False advertisement on free wifi. Great location so they get 1 star. Everything else sucks. Not worth it. Find another place to live.

This apartment complex has roaming bedbugs. Literally.
When you sign for this apartment complex, remember there is something you sign called a Bedbug Addendum. Everything is nice and happy until your unit happens to be the one they invade. They they bite, they breed, and they nest in your mattress.
But, as in the language of the addendum, they pin all of the blame on you, the management is a complete joke and has absolutely no sympathy, and they will wring out every last penny out of you until you pay for everything. They robbed me of 1200 $ and in the end they never permanently dealt with the bugs.
If you can, avoid this trash heap like the plague, I would give this place a much worse rating if I could (maybe like –100 stars). So unless you like gambling, stay far far away.

I like living at quarters. Access to the gym and leasing office is a plus for me. Maintenance requests are processed really quickly as well! It isn’t cheap to live here, however, and rates went up again for next year.

If I could give this place 0 starts I would. Living under I35 would probably be better than this place.
The management is their main issue, they do not care about their residents at all! I called three times trying to get my blinds fixed in September, it’s now March and no one has ever come.
There is no water pressure (seriously taking a shower with a bucket would be better), I asked the maintenance guy about it and he said that’s the City of Austin’s problem, called City of Austin and guess what, it’s the Quarter’s problem, they just don’t want to pay to fix it.
They have now switched Internet providers and it’s a HUGE mess. I have called the new internet provider twice and still do not have internet.
The apartment itself is okay, there are MUCH nicer ones in the area for the same price. When I moved in I noticed a lot of chips in the painting on the windowsill and on the doors. The dishwasher was also dirty when I moved in which is SO disgusting.
Seriously, LIVE ANYWHERE BUT HERE.

The experience here is great because of the people working for the complex and the residents who live in it. We also get great service and are able to enjoy our home!

It’s great! I love the layout of the apartment and how modern everything looks. The location is so convenient and it’s right in the middle of West Campus!

So far I have really liked living in Quarters Montgomery, but there is an aspect I feel we are getting below par. The workout room is a vacant apartment that gives little space to achieve what I want, especially when more than one person is in there. It’d be nice to have a designated place to exercise… not just an old apartment. The main gym above the leasing office is too inconvenient to use most times because of its location from 2700 Nueces. If no improvements can be made to the gym, it might offer itself better as a second study room, since our only other «study room» is quite small as well. I know Quarters is capable of doing a better job than this! Also, my roommates and I really appreciate the maintenance staff and think they are very respectful and always in a positive mood.

Good location, but elevator is always broken and maintenance problem resolutions are like pulling teeth. This is a review for the Quarter’s Montgomery location. Not much more you can expect from an apartment complex with mostly college students though.

So far my experience at Quarters has been great. I’ve lived here since my sophomore year and it’s really convenient. Location is great and service is good enough.

I’ll admit that my time living here was reasonable. I never had to deal with management much which is probably the only reason I didn’t have any problems with them.
However, any good experience that came from living there quickly ended when we moved out. After spending countless hours making our apartment as spotless as possible, we get charged about $ 160 per person for outrageous things. This included a charge for «Missing/​torn screens» when our apartment did not even have a screen on the windows and our windows did not even open on the first floor.
While we were able to get that charge waived we were still charged for outrageous charges including a «mirror cleaning fee» for $ 1 (nickle and diming at its finest, especially considering that we cleaned our mirrors) and a full bedroom re-​painting charge when we touched up any marks on the walls. I guess I would have been better off enjoying myself and drawing on the walls if I knew that I would get charged for having a clean wall.
At the end of this after our leasing agent told us part of our first payment was a security deposit, they told us that we in fact did not pay a security deposit so we paid over $ 100 per person on outrageous charges.
Additionally, at one point during the year there was a homeless person in the pool area screaming and throwing stuff. When we tried to call quarters to get a security guard to take care of it they said «the guard is somewhere but we do not have their cell phone number, call the police» and hung up.
Save yourself the trouble and live somewhere else. If you’re lucky, you won’t have to interact with management much but if you are forced to I am sure that you’ll have a terrible time.

I absolutely hate the management here. they are very stingy and will not accommodate you for any reasons whatsoever. they never return any money to you when you have a valid reason or they mess up. i absolutely hate working with these people.

Quarters management is by far one of the worst I’ve come across. Half of the time, they have internal communication problems. Sometimes, one employee would tell me one thing and then I would get an email or a call saying that what the other employee told me wasn’t correct. Their guarantor and contract process is also really frustrating as well. We’ve complained time and time again that our stove came too scratched up and that it doesn’t work well, but they sent people down to test it and rudely told us that it was okay. Also, their dryers take a long time to dry your clothes and it leaves the clothes wrinkled, no matter what heat setting you put it on. Maybe the appliances part is just my experience, but they haven’t been the most cooperating about this either.
The apartment itself is why I’m not giving this a one star rating. Quarters definitely knows how to make their apartments nice. The layout, the room sharing, and the décor is nice. Their maintenance requests are usually fulfilled efficiently as well. It’s just their management that is the issue.

I would have given this apartment complex a –5 stars…
I have lived in this apartment complex for several years during college and I must say that they have the absolute WORST management ever.
They are extremely deceiving and only seem helpful when you move in. There are so many extra fees they do not tell you until the day you move out. The apartment accountant there messed up our apartment account several times claiming that we owed the apartment several hundreds (then realizing her mistake the next week that we actually don’t owe anything). In addition, the leasing manager seems very nice when you meet with her, but when you want to dispute a charge she is completely absent. They basically solve their issues by ignoring you and hoping you will give up contacting them.
