The University of Texas Club

The atmosphere was great! We were there for the lunch buffet. Everything I ate was wonderful. From the salad bar, chicken, roast beef, sweet potatoes were amazing (orange potatoes) I’m a big fan of those when grilled! I had the pineapple tea so good! I can’t say enough about the food. Such a great treat! The wait staff was so helpful and kind. Great time was had by all.

the place is like walking back into 1974. everything is dated and old. the staff appears friendly when you sign up, but do not respond to questions or explain their services. many of the perks that they say come with the membership aren’t legit. honestly, you’ll have a better time going to a bowling alley.

Went to the University of Texas club for dinner today (Tuesday ¹⁰⁄₁₃). My family is a member of the club. I went during Happy Hour so the snack menu was 50% off! I went with my mother and we got (I don’t remember the exact names) pretzels sticks with queso and you can get chips for a dollar extra, pork tostadas, meatballs, and crab cakes, all for about $ 38! The pretzel sticks were great but a little overcooked, they could’ve been a little softer but the queso was great! The meatballs were layered under cheese and tomato sauce and they were great! The pork tostadas were amazing as well. The food was amazing and I would totally come back and order those things again!
Service was excellent! Very accommodating and they even put all our food in togo boxes for us! There weren’t many others at the restaurant but it was nice and quiet with some background music and TVs playing various shows.

We are members of the UT Club and have dinner at the club often. Several weeks ago, we decided to try something different on the menu… the chicken fried quail. OH MY GOODNESS!!! It was absolutely delicious! Now, this is our typical meal. We love it when UT Volleyball has a game on Wednesday night, as it is half-​off night for the dinner menu! BONUS!

Pretty fun!!! Food was average but gosh it was lovely to escape the heat, watch the game inside, grab a bite and come and go as you please to your seats. Was a wonderful experience. A lot of staff, not overly crowded. Can’t wait to go back and hook em!

Before the remodel I would have given them a five star or more! But sadly they have changed so much and it is very disappointing. They removed their best and probably most popular items off the menu. Their avocado appetizer~~gone, Sea Bass~~ gone, beignet~~gone. Many menu changes, none for the better.
We are members of another club, our benefits include a free meal at the UT Club once a month. The menu options now leave not wanting to go. We often go with two other couple who have the same program. None of us are happy, they order different things than I listed above. We are all very sad and disappointed in the food choices and taste. Can you imagine not wanted to go for a free meal?!

Quite an amazing experience. I recently joined the UT club and I could not be happier with my decision to join. I feel that the dues are reasonable and the benefits for members are excellent. Breakfast is provided every weekday and happy hour is great with substantial complementary hors d’oeuvres. Food in the main dining room is quite good, the menu is diverse and changes regularly. Service at the club is excellent, and Mark is particularly exceptional.

Best private club in Austin. Don’t want to be a number but be a part of a family? Join this club and have great game day, work day, or holiday here! Find a member who will sponsor you and pass a legacy down the family line! Hook em!

just had lunch at the UT club. I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was a great surprise. The buffet was excellent! Salad bar was amazingly fresh with homemade dressing. I highly recommend doing lunch at this place, especially with out of town clients.

I love this place, they do what they do and they do it well. I have been a member since day one and there has never been a time when I have left here disappointed.
I have attended numerous Theatre, Sporting, Business, Dinning events and have also hosted events here. In all my years as a member I have never had a negative experience, this in large part can be credited to club manager, Joe Connell, Chef Patrick and the professional staff. It is difficult to do things well for an extended period of time and yet that is exactly what they have done.
It is part of the Club Corp. network and membership and dues are very agreeable. If you are interested in joining a club I would recommend them.

Food is good, went here with my high school girlfriend and her dad asks me in front of the waiter «what do you want to drink buddy?» I said crown and coke. The waiter served me and I was 17. Haha!
Love going here as a UT alumni especially during football games.

Came here for a group dinner function. Parking is plentiful with the parking garage right across the street. The interior is well-​decorated and clean. The dinner service was friendly and professional and the food was pretty good! Lots of history is posted in display cabinets and walls. The bathrooms were very clean, too! Nice location to use if you need a venue for an event.

We love this place during football season. We can come before the game for a wonderful buffet. Then if it gets too hot at the game, we can come back and watch the rest of the game on televison in air conditioning. It can get the games on the Longhorn Network which Time Warner will not allow us to get at home. You have to have football tickets to get in on game day. They also have a wonderful buffet on Friday nights when there is a football game at home on Saturday. They even have a mini pep rally with alumni band members, a couple of cheerleaders and pom girls. This also a great place to bring guests for dinner on a Saturday night.

I am the 1%! At least that’s the thought as I dined here with Texas elites. The food was good, especially for a large banquet. Not your typical rubber chicken meal. The servers were prompt and friendly and really put our staff at ease. The club was also tastefully decorated. My only beef is that I wonder why there is no view to the interior of the stadium.

The atmosphere is perfect for business, or just having a nice lunch with friends. Putting that aside, this is by far and away the BEST lunch buffet in Austin, if not Texas!!!

I can’t explain why their average isn’t five stars. This place is wonderful. Go for lunch, and for about the same price you might spend on a bland sandwich from a local sandwich shops, you can have an amazing, all-​you-​can-​eat salad and soup bar. This is by far the best salad available in Austin. The mushrooms are so clean, it’s like they didn’t come from the dirt. I also highly recommend their strawberry tea. It’s real tea. Real strawberries. Not that terrible stuff from the soda fountain. I would also like to add that Dianna is fabulous and the place is tastefully done in burnt orange and long horns. I take people to eat here every chance I get.

I have to say that tis was the best «Club Meal» I have ever had. Service was fantastic!

The Bevo history in the lower lobby of the club is awesome, if you’re that into UT (I am). The club itself feels mighty swanky (although some of the furniture, etc, is starting to look/​feel dated), and everyone there is either old or possibly a lawyer. I feel a little ouf of place when I go, but I have my Texas’ Exes key fob in case anyone wants to get righteous on me.
But when it comes to the food, this is mostly an upscale Luby’s. I’m not saying the food is bad. It’s just not on par with what the experience feels like. Not all of the food is kept hot, and my cold potatoes I had for lunch weren’t doing it for me. The selection seems to be pared back from other times I’ve been in the past few years.
Service is great. Everyone working there is pleasant and helpful.
We tried having a business event there, and trying to secure a private/​semi private dining area and having this event at the UT Club proved to be impossible. The details had to be worked out with someone from ClubCorp who was not in Texas, much less Austin, and was less than cooperative. We were going to show up with 20+ people. You’d think they want the business, but I guess not.

I belong to the ClubCorp network of clubs and tried the UT Club for the first time after playing golf in Austin that afternoon. The club is part of the football stadium but there was a nice parking garage across from the club entrance which was free during the weekend.
Entering the club, you can soak up UT history including Bevo. A quick elevator ride to the 7^th floor and you are at the dining level. I was early for dinner so I had a glass of wine at the large bar. The staff went out of their way to chat with me and make me feel comfortable. The wine was unremarkable but I did not order from the wine list.
I took advantage of my benefits and ordered the full 4-​course meal. Before ordering, the sourdough bread was delicious. I was treated to a small crab appetizer on the house which was a pleasant surprise.
Appetizer (s): I ordered the crab cake which had a beautiful but busy presentation. It was very good and freshly prepared. I chose soup vs salad because I love lobster bisque. The bisque was not thick enough for my preference but was tasty. The chunks of lobster were limited and a bit tough. The other patrons appeared to be ordering the salad and scallops.
Main Course: I had the filet with béarnaise sauce which the chef prepared by roasting. The roasting cooked in some interesting flavors to the filet but may be too salty for some pallets. The overall texture and accuracy of the temperature were good. The plate came with a very small portion of scalloped potatoes, asparagus, and roasted tomato.
Dessert: the dessert cart was filled with fresh items served right from the cart. The usual suspects here except for a crème brûlée cheesecake that I have never seen. I chose the key lime pie which was excellent.
The service was impeccable and the cost of my meal would have been around $ 70 including tip. The food was worth the price and if you are a UT fan or alum, you will feel the true warmth of the club.

While the food was very good, the service left something to be desired. Drinks were placed in the wrong places over and over, water wasn’t refilled, and it was actually taken AWAY when we waited too long for the dessert course.
