The Yogurt Spot

I love the Yogurt Spot. Their yogurt is very tasty and they have a wide selection of flavors. I also like the comfy couches and the patio chairs.

I was told to try the cake batter… it was a home run, batter batter!!!
There are other home run flavors like: Cookies N Cream, Chocolate, Vanilla, Taro, Blueberry, Strawberry, Nutter Buttery, Tropical Paradise (yummmmm) and a few other fantastic flavors that you are able to sample as you wish! MMMMMMMM!
I was very happy with the Raspberry Pomegranate Sorbet though!
MMMMMM it was like fruit juicy heaven… Add some gummy bears to it and you will be fruit-​filled!
It costs .39 cents per ounce here and you can sample all of the amazing flavors… some are no-​fat and some are low-​fat.
This is a convenient, fun, self serve spot on the drag that will be a real pick you up!
You get a cup, find your flavor, add some real fruits or candies if you would like, pay, and you are on your way!

I get a hankering for ice cream (or in this case frozen yogurt) whenever I’m hungover. It was between The Yogurt Spot or Rita Rita’s. My brain wasn’t really processing thoughts, so instead of making a conscious decision, I just kind of stumbled into this place.
This was my first time at one of these ‘do everything yourself’ types of places, so I admittedly made a few ill-​advised decisions. I mixed vanilla, cookies and cream, and cake batter yogurt, trying my best to eyeball how much I could eat. Then I moved on to the toppings. a couple of spoonfuls of cookie dough and brownie bits, some sprinkles, and some chocolate syrup if memory serves. Oh, and some of those mini yogurt chips. I’m not going to blame the establishment on my poor decision making. I guess it would have been beneficial for someone to be like «hey, um, what are you doing to yourself?», but the guy behind the counter offered no such warning.
First off, this place would have served it’s purpose entirely, if it weren’t for a few rookie mistakes on my part. The first half was really good. It was exactly what I wanted. For the first 10 minutes, I happily sat in the corner and enjoyed my treat.
I knew I was full, but I also know myself fairly well, and felt that saving yogurt for later is somewhat silly, so I finished the rest.
Needless to say I went home and took a painful, yogurt-​induced nap.
That being said, I enjoyed this place very much. Next time I won’t hold the lever down so long.

Tons of flavors, including Asian flavors like taro and mochi toppings. Yummm. The original yogurt flavor is a little sweet for me, but all of the other flavors are really good, and I like mixing and matching.
A good amount of yogurt and tons of exotic fruit and delicious toppings came to about 3 dollars. It seems like a great hang out spot for going out with friends!

Twelve good flavors, wasteful packaging, 39 cents an ounce, weird modern Nordic décor … Man, these fro-​yo places are starting to all look the same to me.
Except The Yogurt Spot has the added bonus of no parking available out front. But take heed! Should you do as my wife and I did this 25-​degree Wednesday evening and park at the adjacent Sun Hing restaurant, you, too, may very well may walk out to find your car being towed.
Sure, there were signs in the Yogurt Spot saying not to park at Torchy’s. But we didn’t park at Torchy’s. We parked at Sun Hing. At nearly 10 p.m. When Sun Hing had absolutely not one customer in it.
Luckily, we came outside before the d-​bag with the towing company Torchy’s hires could finish stealing our car. But we had to give him $ 50 to get him to unhook it so we could leave.
Our frozen yogurt was pretty good, but it wasn’t $ 56 good.
Screw Advanced Towing. Screw Torchy’s for contracting their «services.» The Yogurt Spot is fine, but make sure you walk there.

I tried Swirl, JuicyTart and Yogurt Spot today to see who had the best froyo as I see them all named in many of the reviews.
I had TYS last and honsetly was a bit full, but once I started eating their yogurt I was sold, it was clearly the best of the 3. It was creamy, the texture was smooth and their sweet yogurts weren’t too sweet. Their Taro flavor is very good (on par with or better than Yummilicious).
This is the best froyo I’ve found in the downtown area so far. My only gripes are I missed seeing their location heading S on Lamar and circled back but had to park at the Amtrak station. They are easier to find coming from 5^th street than Lamar.

The Dulce de Leche is REALLY GOOD.
And there’s my update for the day. Even if you don’t like the flavor, at least sample it… one of many reasons to love the sample cups.

The Yogurt Spot was one of the earlier and best yogurt spots in town (ha! I just got that!)
They have a pretty even split of tart and sweet flavors (I’m generally a sweet fan, myself). The pistachio is awesome, and the cookies and cream. Taro root is an interesting one for you tart lovers. Their yogurt is very creamy, never icy, but not the smoothest either. Parking can be a pain in the booty, but it’s worth it. Just remember that those cups can hold a ton of yogurt, so resist the urge to fill it all the way up!
They have a pretty good selection of toppin’s usually. Candy, fruit, sauces, etc. And ask for sample cups – they keep them behind the bar but give them away freely!
All in all, it’s a consistently good yogurt shoppe!

OOOOMMMIIIIGOOOOD BEST FROYO JOINT EVER!!! The Yogurt spot beast all the froyo joints in boston, such as berryline and red mango, hands down. Froyo by the ounce? Are you kidding me? I can go wild with the toppings!!! Sooooo gooood. If I ever go back to Austin, I’d hit it up after I go to Gourdough’s. Yum-​yum.

Possibly the best yogurt place in Austin. It’s not the greatest I’ve had, but it’s definitely up there. There are many flavors and toppings and the price is lower than many places I have been to. They also have a TV, which is a big plus for me especially if you are trying to catch the score to a big game.
The atmosphere is like most other place. There aren’t many places to seat, but there’s places to sit outside so that’s no biggie. Parking. well there is parking, but its definitely tricky. good luck with that one!
If you are on campus I would say it is worth the extra walk if you are with your buddies.

I’d still say this place is 3 stars. Still not bad, but not the best either. Yogurt is kinda runny by the time I get to the end, indicating that the quality isn’t that good.
I like the variety of flavors and toppings and the atmosphere. Since it’s a lot more popular now though, parking can get tricky but at least it offers a parking area (ahem swirll.). Still doesn’t top the newly opened juicytart in quality though.
Also TYS used to have the best taro flavor in town. It’s been replaced by juicytart, sorry. Also I almost never get the original tart at TYS, it’s pretty mediocre so I just go straight for the flavors. I feel like any yogurt place should have excellent tart in order to even start at 4 stars.

Great place, don’t have to ask any one for samples, just try away. That has always made me feel awkward at ice cream shops. Here you can try how every many you want and you don’t get hassled at all.
Try it out, really great!

Cheap, delicious, and «healthy» summer treat. Also has very cool and relaxing ambiance.

This place is amazing. Someone told me about this place and I was thinking it was going to more like TCBY but it is way beyond that. There are several different flavors but personally the my favorites are the fruit ones but above all the Pom Rasberry sorbet is the best. Feel free to ask for taster cups to try all the flavors. Once your done serving yourself feel free to top it off with freshly cut fruit or other toppings.
Other perks include the flat screen, comfortable seating arrangements and free wi-​fi.
Side notes:
I know the people that help run this place and they keep this place spotless and they are constantly cleaning out the machines. Next time your getting a slurpy, icy, or soft serve ice cream/​yogurt think about how often they get cleaned out. These machines are kept a great condition.

I’m not a dessert person. Cupcake shops… cookie frosting places… make your own gigantic sugary concoction… They’re of zero interest and frankly I am surprised by how many are popping up in this health conscious town. Now, put me in front of a chip bar and you’ll find me stuffing doritos in my pocket and shamefully wiping sour cream and onion flakes off my face. But, I digress.
My point here is i dont like sweets and i love love loved the yogurt spot. They let us in, after kayaking barton springs, dirty sweaty needing a bathroom and a cool down, then we tried each and every yogurt, carefully adding just the right amount of topping and for the cool refreshing sweet event my grand total was around 4 dollah.

Yay for the Austin yogurt explosion!!! If you’ve been to some of the other yogurt places around town (like Yogurt Planet), you’ll know the drill here:
Self serve. A dozen or more flavors of yogurt to choose from — both sweet/​fruity flavors and tart/​savory flavors. About 2 dozen different toppings ranging from fresh fruit to candy bits. Create your favorite combination (be careful because it’s easy to go overboard!) and pay by the ounce. I would say that my yogurt cups usually end up to be about $ 4 (give or take).
Highlights of The Yogurt Spot:
The taro yogurt here is awesome. Their plain tart is really good too. Their fruit toppings are fresh. Good assortment of toppings. They have Wi-​Fi. There are a variety of seating options: sit on stools at the window, big chairs, tables outside…
The not so good:
Something is funky with their chocolate chips — the chocolate chips at Yogurt Planet are much better. Parking can be a pain. You can try to park in the few parking spots that are available in the attached garage. Otherwise, it’s street parking (check near Trudy’s/Spiderhouse).
Overall: Love it. Frozen yogurt makes me happy. :)

The Yogurt Spot is my version of a candy store. With sixteen unique flavors and loads of toppings to choose from, it’s easy to get exactly what you’re craving. While they don’t serve the most perfect, lip-​puckering tart yogurt that I’ve ever had in my life, their yogurt still has a smooth balance of tart and sweet. and I’m still blown away by the potential flavor combinations. Irish mint and chocolate? Strawberry fields and creamy vanilla? Or pistachio topped with almonds? I could go in every day of the month and never get bored, but let’s not give me any ideas.
Other elements of the store, like the staff and seating area, are «spot on» as well. The cashier must have sensed it was my first visit because she cheerfully offered a whole stack of mini sampling cups. There was also plenty of clean indoor and outdoor seating too. I still don’t buy into the suggestion that fro-​yo is part of a healthy diet, but I’ll happily be back for more.

My favorite flavor here has to be the Taro variety. Its got that Taro sweet n buttery flavor that I love. I don’t mind being able to sample all 14 or so flavors that they have although I’m more partial to the Tart flavors. For the uninitiated to the fro-​yo scene, the basic concept is to have frozen yogurt but to have it sweet and tart like real yogurt. That way it contrasts perfectly with fruit toppings. It is insanely popular in the west coast and parts of the east coast (mostly by way of Pinkberry and a million other Pinkberry clones).
I’d say the fro-​yo here isn’t as good as Mamboberry, but it makes up for it in sheer numbers of fro-​yo choices and the 20 or so toppings to choose from. The chill interior also adds to the charm of the place. Living in West Campus, this place is super convenient for me also. Late Hours, Free Wi-​Fi, lots of student clientele. this place is a winner in my book.

Going to the Yogurt Spot is like being abducted by aliens who feed you delicious futuristic desserts and then release you back to Earth where you are left to think about what an other-​worldly experience you just had.
When you enter the store, you are confronted by a semi-​circle of yogurt machines (approximately 16 flavors at last count) that boast flavors ranging from tart and green tea to burrberry, taro, mint, and pistachio. You can ask the cashier for sample cups and once you’ve made up your mind, you can grab a container and serve yourself. Kind of like the salad bar at Whole Foods, I have to work hard to self monitor so I don’t end up paying $ 6 for yogurt — I like a $ 4 to $ 5 range. But with so many flavors and toppings to choose from, this is a tall order.
I usually like mint, burberry, and tart with mochi and pop tarts but lately they’ve been out of pop tarts (insert sad face here). In the absence of pop tarts, I go for graham crackers or something else crunchy that will offset my chewy mochi. In reality, I think this frozen yogurt craze is my excuse to ingest large quantities of mochi.
Parking can be tricky at the Yogurt Spot, but because they are located on the Drag and they boast such an impressive selection of flavors, I’m committed to the cause.
