University Village At Austin

Rude staff and arrogant manager. I went there to apply for an apartment. the girl (one of the staff) talked to me and told me the coast and options. then asked my email address to send me a link to apply online. I waited one week but did not receive any email. I went there again, I told them what we talked about and the fact that I did not receive any email. this time there was a guy who talked to me. he told me a totally different price and totally different arrangement, which would cost me twice more than what I have been told a week ago. I tried to explain, but he started yelling and then I asked to see the manager. the manager showed up with a rude attitude and yelling at me I do not care what she said the price is different today and if you come tomorrow will be a different price.
I don’t know who hires this kind of racist ignorant people. they do not deserve to work anywhere that needs to be in contact with another human being.

Who’s going to pay for my groceries that go bad because the electricity is still not on? Who’s going to email my professor bout my assignment? What’s going to happen to my clothes that are stuck mid cycle in the washer? How am I supposed to wake up for work and school on time?

Not a great place to live, despite being cheap. There are cheaper places on crossing place that offer at least the same quality housing.
Of the four people who live in my apartment, we have sent in at least 15 maintenance requests in the spring semester alone, and only one of them has been answered in a timely manner. None of the requests I have submitted have been answered.
I have also been wrongfully fined. The front office is staffed by people not much older than a typical college student, with about half the work ethic. They won’t be able to help you with any eccentric problems you may have (at least that’s how it was with me and my room mates).
Overall a very unappealing place. I am moving into a house next year for the same monthly rate. You won’t be paying much to live here, but you still get less than what you pay for.

I love my apartment complex! I don’t care what ANYBODY says, UV has BEEN GOOD TO ME! Not to mention their state of the art complex technology and design… Plus I love the really convenient system from mail packages to maintenance request! You may have to remind them more than once, but They usually respond quickly and execute the task professionally.

This is the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in. We had to give away our dog because the roommate that hadn’t even moved in yet didn’t want a dog. Management said they were going to contact him to see if it was okay to keep our dog they lied to us about contacting him. The management is extremely unprofessional everyone in the leasing office seems to not know what’s going on lots of things get stolen here. I cant wait to move out of these apartments. I would never suggest anyone to move here.

Understand that this is STUDENT HOUSING. So naturally there will be about of noise, drinking, parties, etc… A couple nights a month I was awoken by the noise of drink college students fighting or arguing. With that out of the way I have to say these apartments are decent at best.
Just because these are student apartments it doesn’t mean staff can handle things half ass… Which they do. Maintenance requests are handled extremely slow, or not at all. 1. My AC unit was broken for a week waiting for a repair. They placed a portable AC unit in the living room window which only cooled the LIVING ROOM. All four of us slept in the living room for a couple of days. 2. A dining room chair was misplaced by staff which was never replaced after countless emails and requests. 3. The washer and dryers do not work properly and maintenance will not fix our replace them… You get what you part for. I can go on and on but you get the idea.
Overall it’s a decent place to live if your budget it small but your better off splitting a 2×2 apartment with somebody. Sure you will pay a little more but at least an actual apartment will take better care of the people paying rent.

I stayed at UV recently during a short summer sublease when I relocated to the Austin area.
Based on my experience, it deserves two stars. Mind you, it was during summer, so it is a lot quieter than during the normal school year. UV is basically a glorified student dorm complex where people have separate apartments instead. Which means…
— Rent is super cheap for Austin, and it is mainly university students here
— People are drunk and rowdy at weekends
— The walls and ceilings are honestly, the thinnest I have ever experienced in my life. I can hear people knocking on other people’s doors and it sounds so loud that it could actually be my own. I can also hear about 3 other people taking showers, flushing the toilet, walking around etc. It’s just tissue-​paper thin walls. I am glad I was on the ground floor.
— A lot of the pool furniture was cracked/​broken and needs replacing
— The gym was closed while I was there. I think they are renovating it or something.
But having said all that, what do you expect for the price? The apartment space is decent, and it’s an incredible deal and includes all utilities. If the buildings were built better, if it was in a better area, if the standards were higher, then they would surely charge more. If I was a university student and wanted to keep costs down, I would probably choose to live here. They even have shuttle buses on for students to get to campus.
I would reiterate what others have mentioned — they are super hot on ticketing cars so expect hefty fines if you’re breaking the rules.

Introduction: I am going to do this review in two parts.
1). Actual apartment: It is decent. The rent is cheap and reliable (with utilities bundled in for the most part), so it is definitely a cheap option especially for people moving from out of town. They replaced the gross common room carpet over the winter holiday with fake hardwood floors, which look better and are way easier to clean. We have had some problems with ants, but it has been mainly the normal Texas level, so it isn’t anything too bad.
Be warned: this apartment complex is mostly college students. Therefore noise and drunk students are COMMON. The outside can be disgusting on Sunday and Saturday mornings, and finding broken glass in the streets is pretty common.
2). Staff/​Management: And this is what ruins it. It isn’t necessarily about their incompetence and more about their inconsistency. We have had problems with our dryer for over a month and a half now. The first time we put in the work order, they came and oiled the drum. Great. Cool. But when we call and say it is broken still the next day, you should probably do something different. 3 requests later and the same thing done each time, it is still a problem. What’s worse is that the washer has broken in the mean time and so our apartment is royally screwed…
Conclusion: The place is fine. I have lived in both better and worse places. The price is cheap, so you get what you pay for service wise. The place has potential if the management can react to tenants’ problems quicker and more effectively.
Addendum: They tow like crazy. If you don’t have a parking pass, BE ABSOLUTELY SURE it is a visitor spot when parking.

Absolutely the worse place I’ve ever stayed and I only sublet for 2 months. Save yourself the trouble and heart ache and find another apartment. The manager is a douche and cares nothing about the property or its tenants.
WARNING… there are alot of roaches and some rats. BEWARE.

This place doesn’t even deserve 1 star. This is absolutely the worst place I have ever lived. DO NOT live here and not just b/​c it’s on riverside, which is a whole other issue in itself, but b/​c everything about this place is beyond all things negative combined. The staff are college kids who don’t know anything about apartment living. I had the mssiest roommate who would leave her clothes in the laundry area for days abd then let her poor excuse for a human being sister move in and adopt a dog too and then proceed to takenover the living area. Our microwave broke numerous times and the staff didn’t replace it until 6 months later b/​c of course it would always work when maintenence came too check it out. The neighbors above us thought they were the only ppl in the bldg and made no attempts to act like maybe there were ppl living below them. I lost count on how many times I called to complain about them. If you get a tour from an apt locator and they say along with someone from the leasing staff that there is concrete between the floor so it’s soundproof and you won’t have to worry about ppl upstairs RUN THE OTHER WAY B/​C THEY ARE FUCKING LYING. There were actual gunshots outside my window and I obtained the police report to prove it. Several ppl were arrested that night. Pay more to live somewhere else. It’s so not worth it.

If I weren’t a college student with limited options for housing (West Campus is insanely expensive), I would pack up all of my belongings and move as far away as possible from UV. Living here feels like a step-​up from being homeless.
They by far have the most absolutely disrespectful and unhelpful staff of any establishment that I’ve ever been to my in short life. The management is rude and does the absolute least to help their residents when there is a complaint. I’ve tried being polite, I’ve tried coming to their level (not as polite) and neither strategy works.
I have issued multiple noise complaints about my upstairs and nextdoor neighbors to no avail. When I arrived in person in the office to complain about my upstairs neighbors stomping at 3am, the property manager offered to come to my apartment to listen for noise violations, but only if it was between Monday through Friday from 8am-​6pm.
There is dog poop literally everywhere. It’s just icing on top of the shit cake that is UV.
Incredibly unsafe area. I keep my door locked all the time. This past weekend, an unidentified person attempted to open my front door that was fortunately locked.
The maintenance staff is ok, however, they usually arrive several days after the maintenance request has been issued with limited solutions. I blame their apathy on having to list UV maintenance worker on their resume.
It took the office almost 2 months to process my maintenance request for my broken dishwasher. When they finally came to see what was wrong with it, they listed the cause of the problem as being that a mouse chewed through a power line underneath the unit. They left the unit cover off, indicating to me that if there actually was a rat or mouse present, it could easily make its way into the rest of the apartment. When I asked them to send out an exterminator, they said he only comes on Monday. When I asked them to put me on the list for extermination, they told me to buy mouse traps. When I said that I pay $ 509 per month to not have to buy mouse traps, they told me they’d bring me some. They didn’t bring me the mouse traps for another 2 weeks after that, after the dishwasher had already been fixed.
The furniture offerings leave little to be desired. I found a handbill from 2010 in my sofa one day. I’ve lived in the apartment since 2012. The handbill was for a party at a school nearly 40 miles away.
I can’t wait to graduate and leave UV for some poor other soul to suffer with. If you can avoid living here, please do so. It’s really not worth the trouble.

This place seems great to me. I just got to Austin and was expecting roaches and racoons and water flooding (from Unilocal reviews on various apts). This place has solid, straight, clean wood floors, nice appliances and no pests. The AC is pretty cool and not too expensive according to my roommates. I don’t see anybody suspicious around and there are always people enjoying basketball that are super chill. I think it’s a nice place!

Ohh man… WHERE DO I START?!
1) Management SUCKS BAWLZ to the fullest extent of the word SUCKS. Current on (C h a n t e l le) is a BITCH, believe me. She does not give the tiniest of fucks about the tenants. So complaining to her about anything is impossible, one can never be right while talking to her. So fuck that.
2) I lived there for 3 years and the pairing for roommates were lame (done by the horrible management) I cycled through 8 roommates if not 9.
3) Its pretty ghetto there, well at least people that live there have ghetto-​ass friends that like to be loud as fuck at 2,3 or even 4 in the morning. The walls are paper thin and can hear outside people breathing, almost. And im serious.
4) All the time i was there, not a SINGLE machine in the weight room nor «fun room» were added, all stayed the same and are super outdated. They have rusty-​ass weights (incomplete sets), non-​functioning treadmills, etc. This management is STINGY with their money.
5) Trying to submit a maintenance request was ok for the most part but this last year i waited 3 WEEKS! yes, 3 fuckin’ weeks to get my dryer fixed. So non of my roommates nor i were able to dry our clothes at home.
6) Prices have skyrocketed since i first moved in. They started me off at 392 a month for a 4×4 with no incentives to sign. Now these bitches want 525 for the same piece of shit apartment which they have not invested a PENNY to renovate nor improve. FUCK THAT!
7) Expect to get crashed into by drunken idiots or broken into. Thats inevitable at this apartment complex apparently. Their security guard is friendly but honestly sucks at keeping cars safe, then again this stingy ass complex only invests in ONE guard.
8) The only good memories that i will leave with are the Crawfish Boils which are pretty good. Especially the wet t-​shirt contests and the food. I also really like the pool but wouldn’t go into the hot tub if i were you, nasty ass hood people simmer their fat-​asses with their little kids *which by the way probably don’t even live at the complex*.
In conclusion, try to stay away from this complex. as well as the Ion, the Zone and ESPECIALLY the EDGE. Unless you want to die. Literally, I’ve been here in riverside for 5 years and they had to change the name of all the complexes i just mentioned due to death related incidents.
If there was the option to give zero stars (or negative numbers) i would, but yeah.
I get it, college is expensive and so is living in Austin, but if you can, spend this money elsewhere, invest in a house 5 miles up north campus or south, you will be better off. These bloodsucking ass holes wont be any help to you. They will throw you in the street if you own them a PENNY, I SWEAR ON YOUR MOM.

I work for Dine on Demand and I was recently towed while making a delivery. $ 190! I had been parked for 20 minutes and got back and my car was gone. What’s up with that?
Don’t live here! They will tow your friends’ car!

ABSOLUTELY AWFUL. I would rather live under a bridge than continue to live here.
Dog poop — EVERYWHERE. The residents here who have dogs never pick up after them, and management does nothing to fix this. I have never seen such a poop-​ridden lawn, even at a dog park.
Packages — I get a lot of mail, and while the office no longer accepts UPS or FedEx, they have lost my USPS packages several times. I’ll get a package slip in the mail and it’s just «Oh huh, I don’t know where it is. Can you come back later?» Yeah, sure, no probs! Lemme just miss class and/​or work to wait for you to find my mail.
Crime/​theft — Two of my roommates have been hit by other residents who drove off, which speaks more to the type of people who live here (irresponsible college kids with no regard to other peoples’ personal property). A friend of mine who spent the night with me got her TIRES SLASHED. AFTER ONE NIGHT. Seriously? We’ve also experienced serious problems with our upstairs neighbors banging around on the very thin walls & ceiling to the point that my roommate’s fan literally fell away from the ceiling and was in danger of falling on her bed. We had reported them to management who (surprise!) sat back on their chairs and ignored us. We’ve had to call the police several times to get our upstairs neighbors to be quiet at 4 in the morning, to settle domestic disputes at 4 in the morning, and to shut up drunks at 4 in the morning.
Office staff — Supremely unhelpful and unprofessional. College-​age kids who don’t care about you or your issues.
Grody furniture — Cigarette holes in my couch, chairs that smell like ass, the nastiest carpet I’ve ever seen.
Maintenance — They’re alright, but they show up unannounced with a general «maybe» date when they might come by to fix your issue.
Last month’s rent — I was told by two separate people that the full month’s rent I paid when I moved in (which was for a week and a half in August) would also cover my last month’s rent, and told this again when I renewed my lease (which I never should have done). It turns out that it WON’T even though I was told by two different employees, and the business manager I spoke to in order to resolve this issue let me know that she’s worked there for a year (good for you) and had never heard of this. I’ve been living here longer than she’s been an employee, and I was spoken down to («have you ever lived in student housing before? This is how it works…»). Even though I am fully aware of how student housing operates, I was told something different by TWO different employees and still ended up paying my last month’s rent. Absolutely horrible and completely infuriating.
TL;DR: if you’re thinking about living here, don’t.

Living at this apartment complex has been the worst experience of my life. I have never seen so much dogs poop and it’s all over the property, sidewalks and hallways included. All the amenities are either closed or broken and the employees lie to get you to sign. I was done with the place but when it came time to renew my lease they made me a bunch of empty promises. They told me I would get a free upgrade on my furniture, a cable box, and a cruse trip but I would have to pay a little higher rent. I have the same smelly smoked out couch, the cable box does not work, and the cruise took four weeks after I contacted them for the information to tell me that I needed to send in a 200 dollar application fee 30 days after I was given the voucher but I have given them a total of 108 dollars more in rent. In the summer they had so many strange men coming in and out of my apartment with keys «to work» but never gave me any notice or identification. However, I am still waiting on the maintenance request I but in last month for them to clean the vomit off the stairs. As a woman that is very unsettling to be walking in your apartment and have someone you have never seen before just come in. When I tried to get the second room to my apartment because I was sick of people coming in whenever they called me the day after I signed my lease and told me that they would be increasing my rate because my guarantors sheet was not in at the same time but they sent it to me after they called me and when I talked to them they day I sent my lease in (the day before) that they had everything. To make things that much worse my boyfriend came to visit me and got his car towed 3 times each at different times of the day and after being there for less than 30mins. There are people walking around at all hours of the day and night. It really is not a good place to live or visit. If bug infestation is not enough with the huge spiders I think might be poisonous or the millions of ants that you can never get rid of no matter how much bug spray you buy does not get you I am sure the black mold on the lawn from the non existing gutter system that leaves huge puddles of dirty Austin rain water for you to walk through 2 days after it as rained on your way to class will be great for your health. It is so frustration that you are paying $ 600 for lies, no privacy, trash, poop, and bugs but there is nothing you can do about it and they couldn’t care less. DON’T SIGN HERE. Say your money and your health.

So, I’ve had it UP TO HERE with this damn apartment complex! I’ve lived here for almost 18months because I was STUPID and signed a long lease. They have been nothing but trouble from the very start. Lets see, The office is run by a bunch of pricks except for a few males whom I find to be easier to talk to than the females. ACTUALLY I have never run into any of the males being rude or bitchy as these females have been. I have literally been yelled at because Ive had a problem that THEY should have taken care of. Like I’ll go all out and reveal myself too with the problems I’ve had. First problem in ON CHRISTMAS EVE my boyfriend and I were jolly and in the holiday spirit, right. WRONG! We walk outside the apt and are greeted by a TREE ON THE — — - CAR! Yes ladies and gentleman a tree fell on my — — - car. So this is what this stupid — apartment did. First they told me «Well, mam I know it’s Christmas Eve and all but you’re gonna have to wait till Monday (or whatever the next business day was) till someone is in the office that can help you out. We basically had to find a way to celebrate xmas with his family whom lived far. Maybe four days passed right, we call them up «Well mam we can’t do anything about the tree on your car» THEY CANT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THEIR TREE ON MY — — - CAR!!! They couldn’t get anyone to come take it off because if they did they would be held liable. ummmm OF COURSE YOU ARE HELD LIABLE!!! YOUR TREE IS ON MY CAR!!! My boyfriend got in a huge fight with them and they used «act of god». . umm well, sorry preaching to the non believers here but — — – your tree was coming out of the godamn ground long before it fell onto my godamn car ON CHRISTMAS EVE!!!. . DID THEY PAY FOR IT’ Of course not my mother had to get a loan out for 3 GRAND to fix my car.. Money her broke single mother living in the ghetto of Los Angeles — could not afford!!! so thats that. After that incident there has been a slew of —-ed up things they’ve done to me. Such as, tow my — — - car after I told them I would be without my parking permit for a day. The bitchy — lady in the office said it was fine she made a note. It cost me 200 dollars to get my godamn car out. 200 dollars I could not afford to be cashing out over their stupid — —-ed up mistake. The most recent —- up they made was today I get this letter telling me I owe .74 cents and if I dont pay it by the 8^th (which was today, apparently and I’ll get —- on because no, i dont check my — — - mail everyday.. WHO DOES) I’ll get charged 50 dollars.. . SOMEONE GET THE DAMN CALCULATOR OUT AND TELL ME HOW MUCH THAT IS BECAUSE IM NOT PAYING IT! I AM TIRED OF THEIR — — – AND I WILL TAKE THEIR ASSES TO COURT OVER SEVENTY FOUR DAMN CENTS!!! I have a piece of paper that verifies I paid my rent on the day it was due and I even have a side memo of the 8 bucks I owe the BITCHY — FRONT DESK LADY for the overages (which are — — –) that I owed.. THEY NEVER TOLD ME ABOUT .74 cents! everytime they pulled up my acct to look me up since ive paid my rent did they ever tell me YOU OWE .74 CENTS! This is —-ed up — — –! This apartment is just crap to me. It’s so bad and I put in requests to get things fixed and they NEVER even come. My light in my room has been out for 2 weeks. I have asked them MANY Times to fix it.. nope. .my bathtub keeps getting clogged.. did they fix it’ nope.. My smoke detector.. broken.. did they fix it’ OF COURSE NOT! Not to mention couples months back I was involved in a fuss where after this fuss my life was being threatened. I asked them if I could break my lease because that person wants to harm me, bad. Did they break it’ NO! I basically had to live in fear for awhile till the — — - got locked up but even when I pleaded with these people they didn’t care all they want is there WAY TO EXPENSIVE rent. God, You dont even know how pissed off I am with this complex. If I have to pay the fifty dollar a day fee for that damn seventy four cents.. IM GOING TO GO APE —- AND SPEAK TO WHOMEVER I HAVE TO!!! TAKE ME TO COURT UVA! PLEASE! I WANT TO TELL THEM ALL THE CRAP YOU ARE PULLING! Also, If it werent for my mother being the co-​signer I would have just bailed on this place a long time ago. Well let me start off by saying that the ghetto-​ness of the area was at all not a factor in the rating of this place. I lived in the West Side of San Antonio so I was more then use to it. Problem here is that I’ve already had an attempted break in by a robber. That was on the second night here! That never happened once in San Antonio. I am glad they failed but seriously that pisses me off. So for me that was automatically 2 stars off the rating. Second is that maintenance has taken forever to fix the problems in our apartment. We are missing a dining chair, the couch smells like vomit, missing some drawers, our closet balcony was filled with trash and a few other maintenance things. So for now I give this place 2 stars. It’s kinda close to UT and the room/​apt size is pretty good but other than that not much else going for this place.
