Woodstone Apartments

I love this place. The staff is amazing. My neighbors are nearly silent. I’ve lived here a year now and just renewed my lease. I would recommend this apartment to anyone who lived a quiet life and wanted to be in the northwest hills area!

My husband and I moved here about 7 months ago, despite an assortment of negative reviews from various websites. Why? For a few reasons.
Obviously, price was of great importance to us. We had a limited budget (I’m in graduate school and only work part time.) Woodstone is quite affordable amongst the ever increasing rent prices of Austin.
Second, the staff. There are two very sweet ladies who run the office, Michelle and Crystal. They both welcomed us with smiles and cheery attitudes, and have remained helpful and courteous to us, always taking the time to ask how you’ve been when you go and pick up a package from the office.
Moving here has been a huge improvement from our previous apartment in Hyde Park. So many of the apartments in the UT area are run by an insensitive, impersonal leasing company that shall remain nameless, as this review is not meant to bash anyone. My point is, Woodstone has been welcoming, friendly, and truly feels like home. Not to mention it is in a beautiful, wooded location in the Far West area, close to restaurants and shopping galore.
Yes, this is an old complex, and with that comes maintenance issues. The management always informs us ahead of time if they will be doing work anywhere, and always apologize for any inconveniences it may cause. They strive to make it a happy, peaceful living environment for everyone, and this has certainly been the case for us.

I lived here for over three years. When I moved in, I thought it was a cute ‘intimate’ apartment complex which was recommended to me. No.
The neighborhood seems nice but don’t be fooled: it’s not safe. I had my car stolen, and then broken into TWICE, and I witnessed multiple attempted burglaries at this complex. The mailboxes got broken into. You wouldn’t think it would be this unsafe given how high priced the Northwest Hills neighborhood is, and that Woodstone is across the street from the prestigious Anderson High School.
Understaffed. When the manager goes on her lunch break (and there’s no posted lunch break), there is no one staffing the office. The office is built for two staffers, but only one person works there. As a result, several times I have missed crucial deliveries /​appointments because, without warning, there was no one in the office. There is only one maintenance man. He does not speak english. The previous maintenance man was fired when he refused to work overtime.
The apartments have poor noise insulation. My upstairs neighbor had a small dog, and I could always hear it scurrying across her floor upstairs. I could hear each footfall of the dog on the floor, and a loud noise when she opened and closed her balcony door. An air conditioning fan outside my bedroom window would wake me up regularly until I started wearing earplugs.
Thanks to poor maintenance, there was a complex-​wide hot water outage that lasted 4 days.
There was a smellable GAS LEAK at the on-​site laundry, dangerous. Residents called the fire department repeatedly to report it. Woodstone management did not fix it for weeks. When I moved out, it still had not been fixed.
The only things this place has going for it are its awesome location, and pleasantly colored walls.
Woodstone apartments are aging, they have not been well maintained, and things are only going to go downhill from here.
