I created Wordsmith of Austin as a résumé service more than 20 years ago. I have worked with 20,000+ clients in almost all professions. I interview clients rather than having them fill out forms both because I like the learning experience and because I can give better service and value that way.
Your résumé, bio, or cover letter from Wordsmith of Austin will be appropriate to both print and online presentations, and easily adaptable to the many different forms you’ll find on the Internet and in human resources offices.
Sometimes a job search is a real chore, but with the right kind of assistance in preparing for your job search you can be confident that when opportunities open you’ll be able to capitalize on them.

History
Established in 1987.
I was working as a corporate recruiter and often found myself rewriting my job candidates’ résumés so that I could present them in a compelling way. I ultimately decided I liked doing that better and started Wordsmith of Austin as a résumé service.
I’ve added other services such as LinkedIn profiles, bios, business plans, press releases, technical documents, and academic editing, but résumés and related materials remain the core of the business. I learn so much about the world when I speak with people and learn how they do their jobs that I still enjoy it after many years.
Meet the Business Owner
Dan S.
Business Owner
For the last 25 years, Dan Smith, M.S., has provided professional writing, editing, photography, and documentation services to commercial, professional and academic clients. As owner of Wordsmith, he has helped meet the documentation needs of a wide variety of commercial, high-tech, educational, and research organizations.
When he isn’t earning his living, which takes a disturbing amount of time, Dan is an avid birder, photographer, and bicyclist. But the largest portion of his recreational time over about 15 years was taken up with opera and musical theater. Dan is retired from opera after participating in 34 productions from 1991 through 2006 with the Austin Lyric Opera. He has produced two Gilbert & Sullivan shows and performed in several others.
Dan has taught speech, debate, and English at the university level at such schools as The University of Texas at Austin, the Virginia Military Institute, St. Edward’s University, and the University of Southern Mississippi.
