You can watch the guy in the front pulling the dough into noodles which is fun for kids (and adults like me).
$ 4 sushi happy hour: portions are quite tiny. While the sushi was OK, I’d still prefer other sushi places to this place.
Noodles: this is what you come here for. I’ve had much better in Dallas & New York, but for Austin, this is 4 stars. Noodles are nice and chewy & not overcooked. I’d recommend the triangle noodles over spaghetti noodles– they definitely have more of the springy texture because of the way they’re cut. They still long strands but with more of an edge on them instead of being round spaghetti-​like.
Soup– we got the braise beef soup which was decent. Pricey though! $ 11 for something I can make at home.
Appetizer– cold cucumber dish has a great flavor to it– a decent portion. around $ 3.50

Been a while since I came to Xian so stopped by with the in laws today. Still every bit as great as I remember. The sushi is alright — good during happy hour when its cheap, but the noodles are still where its at. My in laws were shocked about the noodle quality — they said it was on par or better than some of the noodles they’ve had in xian, China no less, so ringing endorsement there.
The red braised beef noodles are amazing — get it with paperdelle. They give a lot of beef, a lot more chunks than I remember. Stir fried noodles with the thick spaghetti is really good as well. Basically anything with the noodles is really good and you can’t really go wrong.

Not sure what to think about this restaurant…
I just left LifeTime fitness and was starving. I was accompanied by my friends Tony and Johnson and asked them what their recommendations were for lunch, since I just came in to visit from Houston.
Johnson gave his usual shrug and murmured something along the lines of «I don’t know, I can eat anything.» and Tony suggested this location because he has been here before.
We walked in and we were greeted by the hostess that promptly sat us in a booth near the entrance.
Before the waitress handed us our menus, T and J decided to use the restroom. The waitress asked my for the drink orders and I ordered a hot tea and told her that I didn’t know what the other guys wanted.
T and J came back sat down and she brought us all waters and informed me that the tea was prepping.
We looked over the menu and decided on a few rolls and some noodle dishes. I ordered the Dan Dan with spaghetti noodles specifically.
The order of rolls and appetizers came out and I felt that they were decent nothing bad or good. Pretty neutral. Tony liked them but Johnson disliked them. Disliked maybe too weak of a word, he hated them.
So we have three different viewpoints on the rolls and appetizers which, shockingly isn’t surprising. Everyone has their own tastes right?
In any case, the main noodle dishes were brought out and man… it’s something else.
My noodle dish tasted, bad. Really bad. Think about a hungry starving child and having that hungry starving child reject food bad. I’m not sure if they were in a rush to close or what, but the broth that it was cooked in was all oil that was not the good kind.
I thought I was crazy, I let T and J taste the broth and they both agreed that it was not good. I placed the bowl on the side and asked the waitress to take it away because I was not going to eat it. I still paid for it but I just couldn’t believe anyone would pay this much for this nonsense.
T and J had their own noodles but I believed they had better luck that day.
I do not believe I will ever come back to this location, it showed such promise with 4 stars but I’m not sure that it fits my taste buds or anyones…
Oh, remember that hot tea? I think we’re still waiting for it to arrive sometime this year.

The people here are super nice! And the vegan menu options are plentiful. The food is delicious and affordable. Definitely in my top 3 restaurants in Austin.

This place very quickly became my favorite sushi restaurant in Austin. Their fish is always fresh and the hand rolls are fat!
Also, if you bring people that don’t like fish there are a bunch of things on the menu for them as well as vegetarians.

There are very few places that are so quick and so very very good. The atmosphere is simple and very family friendly. The place was packed on a Saturday afternoon.
The Dan Dan Noodles made my day. Not too spicy with all the right flavors of the meat, pickled veggies, and herbs. The noodles alone were just right. Perfect Saturday lunch. Will definitely be back to try the sushi!

We came here bc we were turned away frm a local sushi restaurant… Very good choice though I’m glad we ended up here & that the other place had ran out of sushi bc we really enjoyed the food, the noodles, sushi & the green beans were my favorite. They have half prices off on Sunday’s. We will be back for sure!

We were driving though the shopping center after going to Lowe’s and I noticed this restaurant. I thought it was just another strip center Chinese restaurant until the person I was with said «hand pulled noodles.» *ERRRR!* I slammed on the brakes. Like the Leo DiCapprio character said in Django Unchained.“At first you had my curiosity. But now you have my attention.“
My buddy and I got a couple orders of pork buns, a sushi roll and shared a plate of the hand pulled noodles. The sushi was no better or worse than any other roughly $ 10 sushi roll, but the pork buns and noodles were fantastic. The staff was also very friendly and helpful and the food came out quickly at lunch time.

It’s a personal rule that I don’t repeat the same order if I like a place but I get Dan Dan noodles every time I’m in this area for a client. It cannot be helped. Incredible fresh noodles at this place, packed with flavor, and always friendly staff.
Sashimi was great here too but the noodles are unmatched.

I order Xian Noodles today with Pappardelle style noodles. Noodles are ok, they are as good as before. The sauce is not ground pork, and without cucumber… Plus, it is super salty. Very disappoint this time!

This place was awesome. We went with all five of our young kids and it was very easy to watch them. The sushi was very fresh, flavorful and well made and the veggie fried rice was a big hit with everyone. The ONLY critic I have is as someone with gluten intolerance I wish they had a gluten free option of noodles. Their staff was nice even if they did seem a little stressed and they worked hard to make the wait time short and they were attentive without being overbearing. Its a great place and we will definitely be coming again.
EDIT*** I am so happy to say that the awesome people here wrote me to let me know they have gluten free noodles and gluten free broth! I can’t wait to check it out!

Ill start off by saying that happy hour at this place is ridiculously good. So much food for half the price! That’s what Im talkin about ;) I recommend starting off with the Lobster Dumplings. Perfect little puffs of tasty goodness. And the plating is really attractive. Artistic. I can appreciate that. The sushi is fresh and filling. Although the rolls are smaller than what I am accustomed to, $ 4 a roll does not call for any kind of complaint. The atmosphere is cool and calm. The place was full for dinner on a Saturday which is good.
I saw several people eating noodles and soup and all sorts of other yummy looking dishes that make me want to come back again. Maybe tomorrow… is that too soon?! Can’t wait. Try it!

I was a big fan and frequent flyer at Momiji, so I was curious what the new replacement would look like. I was immediately comforted by the giant golden waving cat at the entrance which carried over from Momiji and when I saw the menu and saw a lot of my Momiji sushi favorites on there, I breathed a sigh of relief (btw, the Longhorn Roll used to be our favorite «off menu» order and it’s now on the Xian menu… get it!).
But, last nite I was craving noodles and excited to try theirs. When I checked in here, my Unilocal friend, Guy, tasked me with figuring out how to eat those loooong, hot, wet, sloppy noodles without cutting them. He don’t know me too well, do he? I’m a pro. I scooped up a chopstick full of those stir fried beef noodles, shoved a bunch in the piehole, and bit off the rest. I would say this is definitely NOT a first date place. It can get a bit ugly, but the noodle dish was fantastic, loaded with tender beef, red peppers, onions and bok choy. I didn’t care if those noodles occasionally slapped me in the face and dripped down my chin. Hubby was happy with his usual sushi combo plate altho he did help me with the noodle mound as well.
I’m glad the old Momiji got a new facelift! the old cracked booth seats are gone but the new ones make me feel like I’m hunched forward over the table and are very sensitive to any movement from the patron on the other side. Also, it’s happy hour all day on Sat and Sun! which means a dollar or so off some sushi rolls and sashimi, just like the old days. I have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot of that golden good luck cat in the future.

For a modernized Chinese place that offers sushi and noodles… I was pretty surprised.
Location: Unilocal map led me to wrong area. Close, but the GPS was wrong. Its not in front of the Wal-​mart/​Shell, its more towards the Lowe’s, right behind the Ihop.
Food: Out of my top favorite noodle bowls– Udon, Phở, Mi, Wonton soup, Hakata Ramen… I ordered the Shoyu Ramen. Why? I don’t know. Its so hard for me to trust the ramen here in Austin so far. But, when I read about the hand pulled noodles, I knew they gave two cents about the overall soup. Cause that’s how its supppppooose to beee.
Shoyu Ramen– Silky smooth pork belly cuts-​nice, very nice egg, bak choy (not my favorite), and got the «spaghetti noodles». Ok to good. I love the firmness and yeah, no complaints!
The broth– I was told immediately it was «non-​traditional», which seems to be a common response I’ve been getting so far. But I’m sure interpretations and expectations should be at a minimum for whenever you try any new place– I do believe in giving it a go. WHOA. So… that beef broth… hold your panties… was borderline phở-​tasting. No no come back! It wasn’t bad, but I just looked around and was like… what kind of Shoyu is this? Is this phở? Is there someone Vietnamese in the back trying to communicate with me? The broth was rich, light, slightly less fragrant of star anise if it was Phở– but I’d still give it an Oscar nomination with a few squeezes of hoisin sauce and lime for not-​bad-​at-​all Phở.
Perplexed I was. I asked one of guys if it had MSG, and he proudly said no. They don’t do that here. (O _​_​O) Finally. No wonder I didn’t keel over!
Sushi: I don’t know. I just got the $ 4 happy hour Philly roll. Tuna, cucumber, Philly cheese. Pretty small portions, 2 out of what the 8 pieces of I had were missing the cheese… but its all good.

Summary:
— I like that they are noodle-​focused, as well as careful with the broth. I’ll take the «non-​traditional/​interpretations», because we are on the northwest side of central TX. Really curious about the other soups and even their stir-​fry plates. I’ll check them out again to update what I find!

Their noodles are fabulous! I was so excited to finally try hand pulled noodles and definitely feel like I went to the right place to do so. You can even see them being made behind an all glass wall as you walk inside.
We came for dinner a little after 8 and were jazzed to see that happy hour was going on. Normally their HH is from 5 – 7 (and all day Sundays), but they also do a reverse happy hour from 8 – 10. Their website says patio only, but we were sitting inside and they let us do it so just ask.
We started with two appetizers off the HH menu; the crunchy roll and the fried spicy lobster dumplings. I didn’t try the roll, but the dumplings were great. They serve each one on a bed of guacamole and topped with a thin jalapeño slice so it’s the perfect bite.
For my main I went with the dandan noodles. You get to pick the type of noodle you would like (there are 6 to choose from), all of which are handmade there everyday. I chose spaghetti as other reviewers really liked those and I figured it was a safe bet. Delicious! The beef in the bowl was silky leaving the broth with smooth and rich finish. The noodles were heavenly and the server was nice enough to bring scissors making it easier to eat as they come served in one long strand.
My husband got the stir fried noodles and asked for fettuccine on his. I have to admit, I liked his plate more than mine. It had an almost pad se ew taste from the sweet soy sauce and was chalked full of fresh vegetables. I thought the wider noodle he picked was the perfect choice. I am ordering that dish for myself next time so he won’t have to glare at me each time I steal a forkful. Sorry, not sorry.
As if their yummy food wasn’t enough, you really can’t beat their prices. I have been craving those stir fried noodles ever since we went. I have a feeling we will be back very soon. And did I mention dessert?! They have banana tempura and mochi!!! Be sure to check out their lunch specials too.

I vaguely remember seeing this restaurant in the Mueller area and never thought anything of it. I was meeting some girlfriends for lunch and Apryll suggested we go here. Asian food, I’m sold. After reading reviews and looking at all the photos posted I was having a hard time deciding.
We all ordered appetizers for sharing.
Crispy Calamari with with a sweet and sour sauce was great. Nicely seasoned, perfectly fried and a nice sauce to compliment it all.
The Angry Crab Roll was not your average sushi roll — Crispy shrimp tempura, spicy tuna & mango, topped with crabmeat, miso sauce, eel sauce, and hair nori. Even though there was a lot going on in that roll there wasn’t anything overwhelming. Shrimp stay crispy, just enough tuna and everything else completed and tied it all together. Plus it was presented beautifully on the plate.
Rocky Shrimp came up in a majority of the reviews and looked so yummy in the photos. Crispy tempura shrimp bites tossed with a sweet and spicy dressing. As Apryll mentioned in her review definitely more sweet than spicy but still good!
Coming to lunch I knew I want Noodle Soup but I didn’t know which one. I decided on Hand Pulled Beef Noodle that was a clear beef broth, chili oil, leek and cilantro. Out of all of the noodle bowls we all ordered this one was the lighter more simple bowl. I didn’t know what noodles to get so I asked our server and she asked me if I preferred round noodles or flat. I said round so we went with the spaghetti. These noodles are so tender and cooked perfectly. The texture is nice and chewy. They are so good! I got a taste of everyone else’s and they all have great complex spices and their noodles were also awesome. If you want to enjoy the chew and experience of the noodles go with the thinking bigger noodles. I feel like those noodles go great with the more flavorful, complex bowls.
Our server was so sweet and patient with us. We also drank A LOT of water. We were like camels but she was always there to refill our cups. The décor is also very simple and zen. The big windows also bring a lot light so the place just looks so nice and peaceful. I can’t wait to go back and try some more noodles.

Eek! I am so happy that Xian Sushi and Noodle opened this second location in my neck of the woods! The old Momiji got one heck of a remodel. The space is bright and zen like.
I have dined twice so far and this spot will definitely be part of my sushi dining out rotation. They have happy hour daily, reverse happy hour and all day happy hour on Sunday. The happy hour menu has a variety of cold apps, hot apps, rolls, sushi/​sashimi, beer, wine and sake. I am a fan of a couple of the wines on the menu and even more pleased that they run $ 5 during happy hour. From the cold apps I am a fan of the ruby tuna while I found the yellowtail jalapeño OK. The albacore nigiri is a tender cut of buttery fish, my fav so far. Off the specialty rolls I have tried the mango lover’s roll which has fresh tuna, creamy avocado inside and topped with refreshing mango and yuzu tobiko. While the sushi is good the star of the show is those hand-​pulled noodles! The savory beef hand-​pulled noodles has a fragrant broth and the noodles have the perfect texture and flavor.
I will be back to eat my way through the happy hour menu and perhaps indulge in more of those crazy delicious noodles.

I just had dinner here. Wow! I’ll be back. Excellent bowl of Dan Dan noodles.
I’m determined to return for lunch tomorrow. Until then, I’ll leave a pic of Dan Dan Noodles with triangle noodles. The triangle noodles were recommended because they hold the flavor and liquid the best.
I’m sooo happy they are literally across the street from me.

When I heard my favorite sushi place, Momiji’s, was closing for a remodel, I was thrilled. It was looking a bit run down. Then I found out, it was to become Xian Noodles, I was skeptical. Was I going to lose all my preferred dishes?
First time I came was for lunch. The plan was to try the Shrimp Tempura bento box. It came with the usual miso soup, green salad with ginger dressing, rice, and a choice of roll from the Maki list. I choose the Crunchy roll.
The soup is still very good. Their ginger dressing was exactly the same, slightly chucky, delicious. Tempura was spot on as was the dipping sauce. The rice was off tasting, like it had vinegar in it. Made me wonder if it was a rejected batch of sushi rice.
The crunchy roll… Well, it was NOT crunchy. I have no idea what they served me. It was okay to good.
Soon after, we tried them for their noodle dishes. BF ordered the Dan Dan Noodles and I the Xian noodles. These are both from the Dry noodle menu. I tried one mouthful of the Dan Dan. All I can say is make sure you have plenty of cold beer or water before you taste it. The burn so bad was all I could detect, no flavor.
The Xian noodles should be there showcase as it is their name. It looked good and the sauce definitely looked dark and savory. The noodles alone were good but needed some salt. The sauce turned out to be a bit bitter. At least my sauce was edible, unlike the Dan Dan. It was supposed to be ground pork but appeared more like diced pork. The edamame was a pleasant crunchy surprise. The cucumbers, carrots and bean sprouts, if they were in there, I could distinguish them.
The service both times was excellent. They had plenty of servers on standby. We plan to go again to try the sushi. Not sure if I will try any more of their noodle dishes.
