When I saw Jay’s photographs on Zoom Pet Photography’s web site I had to reach out. When we initially spoke, what impressed me was the amount of time he spent talking with me on the phone about my dog Bowie and the type of shoot I was asking for to make sure it was a match. Once I decided to book a shoot, Jay was timely with his communication and I found him to be very flexible.
The day we met to take the photographs, he was clear that his job was to make sure Bowie was relaxed and having fun. He let Bowie sniff around the studio and play until he settled down, which took 45 minutes. During the shoot, he was incredibly engaged with my dog working to have fun with him while getting the exact shot we were looking for. He was meticulous with the lighting and Bowie’s placement-​but amazingly, I could tell Bowie was enjoying every minute. It’s clear he has a talent communicating with dogs! And the gourmet treats he brought to keep Bowie’s attention didn’t hurt!
Jay met with me twice while he worked on the photograph to make sure I was included in the editing process and I really appreciated his point of view and rabid attention to detail. Jay always called when he said he would and met every deadline he gave me. When the photograph was ready we met at the framing studio. I’m not to shy to admit, the finished photograph was more than I could ever hope for and I burst into tears! While I gathered myself he and the framer worked together for an hour helping me pick out just the right frame and matte. That was above and beyond. What it said to me is what I knew through the entire process. Jay’s art is his heart and he wants to get it right.

Had a wonderful experience with Jay. I didn’t get to meet Abby because I was having a picture taken with my cat, but nevertheless the pictures that were taken were amazing. I got several beautiful pictures of Piper and me that I’m going to use in my Christmas cards. He was very professional without being distant or rude and I had a great experience considering that I have a very curious cat that was not cool with sitting still. Any time you invite a photographer into your life to take photos of yourself or a loved one it is really important to find someone that you can connect with and who has the insight to understand you and your family. For over two years I looked for photographers to do a tribute shoot for our beloved dog Chloe and I did not feel comfortable with any of them until I met Jay Herman. Jay is one of the most talented photographers that I have had the privilege to meet. The first time I spoke to Jay on the phone I could tell how thoughtful and dedicated he is to his craft and to animals. I really appreciated Jay’s kindness, directness and professionalism. He immediately understood the type of shoot we wanted and was able to fit us in that same weekend. He picked the perfect location and time for the shoot. But most importantly he spent so much time helping our dog get comfortable before he started taking photos. It’s clear that Jay is does not chase a «cool» shot for the sake of it. Rather he spends time getting to know the dog as an individual and pays attention to who they are. The result is that he is able to capture the true personality of a dog in an absolutely beautiful way. My husband, Chloe and I really enjoyed the time we got to spend with Jay on the shoot as well as afterwards when we went to see the final product. He took so much time and care and provided us with photos that we will cherish forever. His prices are very reasonable, especially when you consider the time, artistry and care Jay puts into each photo. Jay is really good about sending updates and completed editing all the photos in a very reasonable timeframe. The quality of the photos and the level of service were just incredible. I don’t think you’ll find a better photographer to work with.

When Gypsy, my beloved Boston Terrier was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer when she was only 4 I decided to book a session with Jay. Not only did he get awesome pictures of Gypsy which I treasure every day, but he also was kind and supportive through my tears. In one photo shoot he captured so many elements of her personality and character. I have had many people remark to me how the photos he took really show her character and spirit. Without hesitation I recommend Jay.

Jay Herman of Zoom Pet Photography took the most beautiful photos of my dog! He has the unique ability to capture her personality, both her playful and her more serious side. All in one shoot! He’s naturally good with animals and is a very skilled photographer, professional and easy to get along with. The dogs really respond to him. I’m so glad to have these photos of my dog (she is now gone), and having a set of professional prints really makes a difference, especially now. I will always have Jay to thank for helping to keep Lana’s memory alive.
