Ate here on a very very hot day… Ordered a modelo it was perfect, nice and cold. Ordered the fish and chips and husband ordered the fish and chips with shrimp. I must say everything was pretty good… The down side was the extreme heat and the limited amount of shade to eat… Overall I would come here again.

Spent a wonderful week in Catalina … After a few over priced average meals at other restaurants we decided to try out the fish and chips place at the end of the pier. What a treat! We basically ate there every day after our bike ride. Never disappointed! Really enjoyed the swordfish sandwich with coleslaw and the seafood platter combo. an added bonus was the small talk we made with the ten year old boy who helps his father and brother out at the restaurant during his summer vacation! While wiping down the tables he sweetly put up with the jolly tourists asking him questions about the island that he had probably answered every day from June on. beautiful location. cold beer. great food. make sure to try it out!

Got platter #1 with a mixture of dried seafood with fries. Comes with red sauce, which has horseradish, and tartar sauce. The fries were ok. I would like it more with more seasoning. The scallops were delicious — tender and juicy. The other seafood were just ok. Served quickly and fresh. It’s a good quick eat.

It was great, nothing fancy just good fresh seafood. I have visited Catalina Island several times but would always miss eating here because they were closed during my visits. This time, I enjoyed the fresh scallops, shrimp, cod and fries. Its a little pricey for such small portions but hey how often do you visit? Its ok to splurge once in a while especially for good fresh seafood!

Fresh grilled Tilapia was awesome, and being able to enjoy a beer on the pier with the breeze and the sights was awesome.

Nice views, service, but food is so so compared to other places we ate at on island. The roasted Brussels sprout was way too creamy, they should have just roasted and not buttered or oiled it. The fish and rice was also tasteless. The mojito … did they forget the alcohol? However, the staff were super! I would give our waitress 5 stars. Go for the views.

The fish and chips are quite expensive for the amount of servings. The quality is pretty good though, but the pieces are tiny and not filling at all. Don’t get the chili stuff. They are super salty, and hot… not good for the summer lunches under the sun.

This place smells better on the pier than the food tastes. I had breaded fish and rice: Lots of breading on the fish, the rice was reduced to a gluey mess, and the tartar sauce was thick mayonnaise with a few bits of pickle. I’m NOT a picky eater but I couldn’t finish it.

This place was good, and I liked that it was in such a great location on the pier. I ordered a calamari sandwich that was pretty good and my boyfriend ordered the chili cheese fries and a burger that he enjoyed. We’d probably come back next time we visit Catalina.

I go to Catalina for 1 week every year, since I was born. This place is okay. It used to be a lot better. But I believe a few years ago the owner sold it. Now the staff and food they offer isn’t what it used to be. It is in a prime location, right on the piers end. But recently all I buy from it is just smoked salmon/albacore because nothing else they offer is too great. If you are in Avalon, I would recommend coming here once, but not too much.

Best fish and chips in town! Outside seating overlooking the harbor and great people watching… a fun experience!

I was in Avalon, walking around, thinking about fish & chips for lunch. If you’re in Avalon, you spend time looking at the beautiful harbor, so what caught my eye? The stand out on the pier with the sign that says«FISHANDCHIPS.» Good call. The location is great. Nice outdoor seating with wonderful views. They have a decent menu with a lot more than just fish & chips. I really wanted to try the smoked albacore but I held fast and ordered fish & chips. They also have a nice beer selection. I saw 6 or 8 on tap + bottles in a cooler. I thought the fish & chips looked«run of the mill» when I looked at it but was glad to find that it tasted better than average. Service here was good & friendly. I enjoyed the locals sitting near me drinking beer and chatting. I listened to their stories of living through the winter on the Island and unwelcome but amusing propositions from swingers visiting from Ventura. LOL.

You might be thinking, hey look at this bright green building at the end of the pier and thought to myself, this is the place I’m going to get amazing fish and chips! I mean, it says FISHANDCHIPS in big font on it, it must be great. Plus it’s on an island! WRONG! This place is an absolute scam, I got a variety plate of seafood including fish, shrimp, calamari and something else. It was god awful! Everything was tasteless, not to mention I bought a margarita and it had NO alcohol in it. Not even a little, NONE. I’m thinking maybe they put in a drop of tequila just so they can say there is alcohol in it. What a rip off! Go down the pier to Eric’s on the Pier, WWWWAAAYYY better fish and chips and a little cheaper.

The clam chowder did not have 1 clam in the entire serving. They should call it potato chowder. The Bread bowl was stale. Expensive bad food.

My friends love to get the swordfish here. Went here a couple of weeks ago during July 4th weekend. I found Miguel to be super nice and helpful, off all the restaurants I visited that weekend he provided the best service. Since I was still unfamiliar to Avalon he gave me great advice on fun things to do on the island. I really enjoy their selection of seafood here, nothing fancy and most items are unhealthy/tasty deep fried. =D Bonus, I didn’t know before but a sandwich baggie of fish food is sold here for just $ 1. If you are going snorkeling the fish food is a must, you will see so many more fish because of it. Just take care to sprinkle a little at a time since the fish really swarm and can bite at your fingers and toes. O_O! The quality of their fish and chips is great, tender juicy white fish. I found out that their tartar sauce is a good substitute to dip baby carrots in if no ranch was to be found. When ordering a beer make sure you stay within their seating boundaries, kinda strict on enforcing that policy. Don’t know why many tourists treat Catalina like Vegas, no open containers of alcohol are allowed on the street okies? They don’t even attempt to be slight inconspicuous and do the gangster brown bag! Seriously, just because you were recently on a boat doesn’t mean you are suddenly in the high seas of international waters outside of jurisdiction. =p Tip: This is one of THE best places to watch the fireworks on the 4th while throwing back a few brewskis! Very close to all the action, if you were any closer your neck would hurt from all the craning and you would probably have to be on a boat. =p

We got the fish and chips here. I’ve never had calamari served to me that way before but it was good. The price isn’t so great, it’s a little pricey for a plate of just fish and chips. I guess it’s about location though, because we were able to sit on the pier and people watch. A little pricey for a place that is just a quick stop for lunch, but to each their own, right?

This review is totally bias, so don’t hold it against me. My gf and I went to Catalina Island on couple of weeks ago on a hot summer day. When we first arrived(around 10 a.m.) we felt like to have a snack and scout the place where we reserved our snorkeling tour. This place happened to be at the center of the pier and right next to the snorkeling shop so we decided to just get some food there. As we was standing in the front trying to decide what to get, my girl friend pulled my shirt and whispered something to me… Then i realized, %^&*, are you shitting me? There are in the middle of replacing their menu and putting on a new one with different price!!! Of course we did what any other people would do, we find out how much was the increase… a fish and chips combo — from $ 12.50 to $ 15.00. Oh, only a $ 2.50 increase, not that much… NOT!!! Being a cheap ass, I took my girlfriend and just turn around and left. I don’t want to be thinking about the extra $ 2.50 during the entire trip(tho it’s only a day long). I guess it’s better for them to change their menu at 10 in the morning and lose 2 customers than change it at 12 noon and lose maybe 20.(We took a picture of the menu changing, but it’s in my gf’s camera) PS. We walked only a few yards back toward the street and got a fish and chips plate(not combo) at Eric’s for about half and price and we loved it! We ended up coming back to Eric’s in the afternoon to get another fish and chips.

Located at the end of the pier this seafood place is all about business. Lots of seafood, fried and grilled, perfect for a summery lunch on the pier. From traditional items like fish and chips to grilled yellow tail. Add super cold beer, lemon juice, tartar sauce and you are golden. Fast, simple and delicious.
