My husband and I just got back from Catalina. We stayed at the Catalina Island Inn. This has not been our first visit to this amazing hotel. We have stayed in several rooms and have not yet been disappointed. This trip we were in room 443. Yes, there are stairs you will want to go up, but I guarantee you will be thrilled with the view. There is a lovely balcony with a table and two chairs. I just love the walk in shower. The Inn is very clean and there is complimentary coffee and small breakfast bites in the morning. There are also bowls of apples on each floor. We love this Inn because it is perfectly situated down town. All the employees. and owners, are incredibly polite and wonderful. The upgrades are superior, and the price is very reasonable. I highly recommend this little piece of paradise.

Nice little hotel and decent pricing considering other places in the area. Get 3rd floor or above if you can. We could see the ocean from our room which was a nice surprise. Staff was very nice and helpful. You can leave your stuff there before check in and after check out so you dont have to carry everything with you until you are back on the ferry. Luckily our room was ready when we got there so we got to check in at 10:45 as soon as we walked there from the ferry. Would definitely consider this hotel again. Very close to the main street. Right next to vons too in case you need any supplies.

The outside of the hotel was beautiful and the inside of the building was lovely as well. The second floor has a deck available to all guests during the day time and the third floor has lots of natural light from the skylights. However, the room we had, 309, was so tiny! The real problem was the shower. It was so small it made it incredibly difficult to shave. Other than that, the bed was comfortable and the room provided everything necessary. Granted, I can sleep anywhere. Included was a small breakfast that consisted of some fruit, rather dry scones, and mini muffins along with juice, tea, and coffee. Additionally, they provide as many beach towels as you would like and the internet connection was strong and fast. The front desk was very helpful with recommendations on activities to do and what companies to book with. I would come back!

Great hotel for the price. The distance isn’t a factor since they provide a shuttle from 7am — 8:45pm. Never had to wait more then 5 min. Rooms are updated and nice.

The rooms were nice but small and the service was friendly. However we originally booked a queen room. We decided that the room looked too small and wanted to switch to a cal King. There was no option to upgrade the room so we had to cancel and book a new one. After booking the 2nd room the website wouldn’t let us cancel. We called the hotel and they said that we were past the cancellation deadline. We ended up paying for 2 rooms, over $ 500 for 2 nights. Terrible policy and terrible customer service. Will not be returning.

Do not stay in room 330, the fan from the bathroom below must be broke or on steroids! The whole floor vibrates and sounds like an elevator is next door, it is so loud it wakes me anytime someone below turns the light on. Management acts like its something new and they are” on it”. But nothing has changed. While on vacation I don’t feel like I should be woke up at 4am due to the fact somebody below me is using the restroom.
I am certain this is my last visit to this hotel.

Myself and my husband stayed here valentines days weekend and I loved every second of it. Island was beautiful staff was super friendly. And the bar was 98% cheaper than on front street. Can’t wait to go again!

We stayed in a classic king. Not as fancy as their suites but nonetheless impressive for the distance to the shore and amenities. The room and building was clean and the staff was very accommodating during our stay for my hubby’s birthday weekend. I’m staying here again if I’m back. I’m happy and satisfied with this beautiful hotel.

What a beautiful suite! We stayed on 1st floor no stairs! My only complaint was I couldn’t have tea until 8am because of the krup coffee maker in room. Great shower and water pressure. Everyone is so nice and such a beautiful inn! We are hoping to return every year for anniversary! For the price they should have better toilet paper, as bad as a gas station quality TP. Will return!

We spent last weekend in Catalina and booked the little suite 103 for this hotel. The room was super nice! Clean, modern, with a cozy fireplace and tiny patio. The bed was comfy (I would remove the poles though because they block the tv, but who wants to watch tv anyways)
The staff was friendly and they checked us in even though we arrived really early. The hotel is really accommodating and they allow you to leave your suitcases there after check out for you to enjoy the Island. They also have complimentary pastries, coffee, hot cocoa and tea.

Just stayed here for my boyfriend’s 25th birthday Oct 6 – 7. I cannot imagine staying anywhere else. I absolutely love this hotel and its staff. Hello to Juan, again! Keep up the hard work!
Our arrival by boat was 10:30AM, so we dropped our bags off (Thanks!) and headed to Bluewater Grille again. By noon, our room was ready (Yay!). We walked all the many stairs up to the 4th floor (Room 443, King Balcony View).
My first review was on a Queen Non-​view. After staying in their King Balcony Ocean View, there is no turning back! The bathroom is spacious, the beds are comfortable, and clean (so important)!
The view is so enjoyable from their balcony, that it was worth waking up early to see the sunrise and to come back in time to see the sunset.
As we checked out, they allowed us to leave our bags with them until our departure around 7PM. We even came back at one point to grab a few things, which they had no problems with.
Thank you for a wonderful stay! I can’t imagine staying anywhere else!

Stay here on a Friday night in August. It was the perfect time to go as it was not too hot or overly crowded. About a 10 min walk from the Catalina Express dock, the hotel itself is small yet intimate. There are also no elevators so be prepared to walk. My room was up in the third floor and it was not bad of a walk at all. Also be sure when booking rooms that you book a room with A/​C. Some rooms have it and others only a fan. I made sure I booked a room with A/​C because yeah why wouldn’t you? The room was clean and very small but I didn’t mind since I just plopped myself on the bed and I was good. Tiny bathroom with toilet and stand up shower with the sink outside. The view from the window was non-​existent but I knew that coming in when I booked the room.
We got on the island super early around 8am and the friendly staff was nice enough to accommodate us with an early check-​in free of charge. The hotel offers breakfast from 8−10am offering fruit, coffee, juice, and pastries. One big plus for this hotel is that it is right next to a Vons, so if you ever need anything it is right next door. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here and would definitely come back here again when if I am staying on the island.

The hotel is on the smaller side, but still functional. There are no elevators and not all rooms have air conditioning. (Make sure to get the room that does especially in the summer.)
They offer free continental breakfast in the lobby 8am-​10am and have fruit throughout the floors of the hotel. If you’re feigning for something else Vons is conveniently your neighbor. On the second floor there’s an outside patio to people watch (highly suggested activity. Haha)
Now the room. They actually have a key not a room card! Shocking! You open the door and the bed is right there in front of you and the sink is visible from the room. The half bathroom is the only other room. Mind you the room I stayed in the light wasn’t working, but the sink lights sufficed. Thankfully the fan was working. What I really liked about the hotel was that it was clean and updated. I didn’t see bed bugs or dirty walls or a dirty bed or anything that would turn me off.
If you leave your bags at the hotel there isn’t a bellboy, but there’s a little cubbyhole to put you’re things at. No one really checks or anything so just beware.

Stayed here last week, and the place was great! It is very centralized by most of the tourist attractions, is about a 10 – 15 minute walk from the Catalina Express, AND is right next to a Vons (grocery store). The staff is friendly and pretty helpful, and even put out pastries, coffee, and orange juice every morning.
Our room was a little smaller than expected in respect to pricing, but after seeing the layout of some of the other more cozier rooms, we couldn’t complain (most rooms seem to be like cabin rooms that you see on cruise ships). But again, since this is a very centralized place in a huge tourist area, so the pricing makes sense. The upscale rooms like on the 4th floor look much nicer though, with some offering private balconies.
The room was very clean when we checked in, and the staff did a great job of cleaning it in the middle of the day – though the walkways could smell like cleaning supplies for an hour or two. There is free WiFi, which was nice since neither of us had great service on the island.
One con is that our room only had a fan, with no AC. Others have mentioned that you can request one, which I’d recommend during the warmer days.
For those who have weaker legs/​arms (or heavier luggage), be warned that there is no elevator. Each floor is not necessarily a HUGE climb, but this is worth mentioning for those who may have trouble.

We just got back from our trip. It was our first time to Catalina, and staying here made it so much better. I looked online for the «cheapest nicest» hotel and Catalina island Inn was it. The room was small but very functional. It was very clean and newly renovated. I would definitely will return again. Make sure to ask for a room with air conditioning not all come with it. Our room had it, we were in room 302.

Do NOT get a cab to this hotel unless you have bags you can’t drag or carry. It is a quick 15 minute walk from the ferry terminal. We weren’t the only ones lugging our stuff.
Check in is a breeze. The front desk staff is very cordial and professional.
As everyone else (and their website) mentions — no elevators, so if you don’t think you can lug your luggage 4 flight up after having dragged them over two blocks, you probably should take a lower floor.
The layout is a bit long and winding but the art that adorns the hallways is very tastefully installed. The room is spacious and clean.
We are environmentally conscious travelers indulging in relative luxury at the tail end of our trips and so being told to conserve water (i.e. no super long warm showers) after camping at Joshua Tree NP for 5 days was a bit of a let down. Not the hotel’s fault and we did our part helping with the island’s conservation efforts.
We had room 442. Definitely worth the extra cash you fork out to be on the top floor.
The harbor/​ocean views are OUTSTANDING.
There’s a very basic breakfast menu. If you are an early riser (we were, for the hikes we were doing), you’d have to venture out for a full breakfast.
Now for the flip side (see pic): We couldn’t really keep the huge balcony windows open. Even though we had a balcony, we could barely sit there through breakfast. The noise from all the (air conditioning??) fans below is loud, and it’s the only thing that ruins a perfect setting on the balcony.
I’d stay at this inn again, but I’ll have to weigh the cost of the room with the noise factor before opting for a higher floor next time!
Room Tip: Room 442 — Great view but the noise from the fans downstairs gets to you after a while!

The hotel is beautiful and perfectly located from the pier, shops, and restaurants. We were in room 101 and it was very nice and clean. The room offered a comfortable bed, private patio and a fireplace. The complimentary water and coffee for the Keurig was a nice touch. The front desk staff was very pleasant.
The reason for 4⁄5 stars is because of the noise! I just want to warn anybody on the bottom floor, to be prepared to probably be woken up early from the people above. We had what sounded like a marching band practice at 7:00am each morning. Also, there’s a garbage truck that comes every morning that’s very loud that these paper thin walls can not muffle. It would also be nice for the option of a late checkout for those of us who are slow movers.

So happy all the other hotels were sold out when so I booked this one. Unlike most of the hotels on the island this hotel looked and felt clean. No floral granny sheets! They didn’t have an ocean view when I booked but I asked to be on the waiting list and when I checked in they were able to upgrade us.
Everything seems updated in the hotel. Fresh clean and relaxing. I stayed in room 443 and it had nice ocean view.
Giving 4 stars instead of 5 because there are bags all over the lobby for people who were waiting for their room to be ready. They need a bag check room! Also, front desk could have been a little more courteous considering the prices of the rooms.
