History

Established in 1987.

Dr. Galitz is a Fellow of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, and a Fellow of the prestigious American College of Surgeons. He also maintains memberships in local, state and national societies.

Dr. Richard Galitz was the President of the Florida Society of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery for 2001 – 2002, and the President of the Dade County Head and Neck Society. He is a guest lecturer and panelist for the Education Foundation of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

In addition to maintaining his active private practice, Dr. Galitz also offers his expertise to medical students as Assistant Professor of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine.

Dr. Galitz is a Board Certified and Fellowship trained Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon exclusively performing surgeries on the face. He founded Aventura Plastic Surgery 26 years ago in Miami. Over the years he has tailored his surgeries to be done under oral sedation with local anesthesia to eliminate the majority of surgical risk while still giving his patients excellent results. Not only is local anesthesia safer, it makes for an easy recovery as there is no anesthesia hang over and nausea.

Dr Galitz earned a master’s degree in art and applies his aesthetic eye to each individual patient all with different needs and characteristics.
