Was super excited to visit here, checked out their website and everything, drove 25 min and finally arrived(it was a Saturday with less than flowing traffic) only to find a tattered note taped to the door saying«closed for the weekend». you couldn’t have posted this online?! Sadly this is my first and last trip here. No beer for me. :(

Cannot drink within brewery, just a simple growler bar but with a nice selection of beers. Friendly, helpful service. Isn’t easy to find, have to pass the building/machine shop and should park close to the fence. There is a small cutters sign on the fence. Walk into the fenced area and look right for a door near the empty kegs. Very good beer and I hope they opened a tap room in a restaurant near the brewery.

Bye Bye, Cutters. I’ll miss this as an option for Sunday growler fills. For a while the staff here was really cool. Just a bunch of dudes that were generous with the samples and that loved to stand and shoot the breeze. No More…

The place is very unassuming, and the employees are friendly. When I swing by I often see the head brewer, which is nice. My favorite offerings thus far have been their Hardin Hoppy Wheat(kind of like a Gumballhead clone really) and their Pumpkin Porter. I’m a hophead, and I’ve tried their Half Court and their Full Court. Neither one really strikes my fancy, but I’m glad I’ve found some of their other beers that I like. I also like seeing a sour on the menu(which is rare to see this as part of the regular line up at a brewery).

We’ve been to Cutters twice now. It is indeed inconspicuous as others have commented. I have been driving by this place more than once per day for 2 years and never knew it was there. Thank you Indianapolis Monthly for pointing it out. Sometimes the truck is sitting out front. That is their only signage. They did tell me that they were working with the Town of Avon on a sign. On the Avon topic, don’t let the location prevent you from trying it out. These guys are not«Avon-ites», they just needed a place to land. The people are laid back, helpful and very proud of their work. They should be. They make really good beer. We’ve tried all of them at this point and haven’t walked away with less than 3 growlers each trip. They are brewing for Taxman Brewery right now too. Training a brewmaster to take over when Taxman opens it’s new place in Bargersville. You can buy growlers and kegs any day of the week. Cans are also available, but the canned varieties can be found in liquor stores so not as «special». Go sample. What’s the harm? You aren’t out anything if you don’t like what they are brewing!

This brewery is a little hard to locate but don’t give up! It’s well worth finding. Yeah, it’s just a brewery(in all if it’s glory), no pub, no tasting room, but you can get samples of any of their beers and purchase beer by the growler to go. It seems like every time I stop in the beers just get better & better. Their Knobstone Pale and Rye on the Scarecrow are exceptional beers, in my opinion.

Awesome place to go for small samples or a growler fill. They are currently unable to sell beer by the glass since they do not sell food. A little tough to find for the first time. It’s in the industrial area next to Long Horn Steakhouse. Very nice guys who are proud of the beer they make-if you are in the area be sure to check them out.

One thing needs to be made very clear about Cutters — this isn’t a brewpub. It’s not a fancy location, they don’t serve food, and this isn’t somewhere you’re going to head with your buddies for a few drinks in the evening. It is first and foremost a working brewery that just happens to also be open to the public for growler fills and merchandise sales. If you’re expecting more than that, prepare to be disappointed. But if you’re just looking for some great beer in Avon, then Cutters is for you. I’d only recently heard about Cutters and figured I’d stop in to see what it’s all about. It’s a very no-frills setup they’ve got. The brewery is just in a warehouse space with a fenced in yard in front. You’ve got to walk through a gate, into the yard(lined with equipment and pallets of kegs) to even get to the actual brewery. Inside is a simple table, a keezer with taps for all their brews, a display made of pallets, a chalkboard with their menu written on it, and a few shelves of growlers and other items they sell. The fermentation tanks are all right there too, and you can see pretty much the whole operation as soon as you walk in. And it’s not filthy or anything, but I don’t think I’d advise dressing up for the occasion. The guy who helped me was great and did a wonderful job outlining all the different beers they had. He poured all the samples I wanted until my mind was made up on what I wanted to take home. I ended up with growlers of their Floyd’s Folly Scottish Ale(which is much different than Sun King’s Wee Mac) and their Monon Wheat Ale. Both were great and neither lasted long at the house. For some reason when he went to fill my growler with the Monon, the keg and tap weren’t playing together nicely and it came out kind of flat. Since things weren’t working quite right he just gave me the fill on that one for free — a very nice gesture, I’d say. And one that will keep me coming back. Cutters may not have a lot of flash, but they deliver on quality beer(and at a good price, too). Having a great source of craft beer practically on my way home from work is wonderful. I’m sure I’ll be stopping in here a lot from now on.
