Description

Specialties

The Froggy Dog serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with a full bar. Our burgers are a juicy half pound with all the fixings unless you want the one pound Albatross. We serve fresh NC seafood and mouth watering steaks.

History

Established in 1972.

From it’s humble beginnings as a small hot dog stand in the early 70’s, The Froggy Dog has grown to be the largest restaurant on the Hatteras Island. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, we offer everything you can imagine, whether you’re looking for fresh local seafood, Southern specialties or some of the all time favorites. Or you can spend some time in the Groggy Pirate Pub and have your favorite drink, or try one of our house specialties. You can even mix and match and create your own drink! You can also take your drink out to the porch and enjoy it on some fresh air.

We are able to accommodate large parties, such as family reunions, birthdays… There is a place for your children in the Tadpole corner which is full with toys for them to play with!

Head upstairs and visit the Ribbits Gift Shop, with lots of gifts with the famous Froggy Dog mascot for both kids and adults.

Join us for a delicious meal, enjoy the Southern hospitality and become a part of Hatteras Island tradition!

Meet the Business Owner

Fred S.

Business Owner

Fred and Denise Sawyer are the owners of The Froggy Dog since 1995. Both were accountant’s in the firm Fred Sawyer and Associates before purchasing the restaurant. Denise Sawyer was retired Air Force before joining the firm. Fred is a graduate of NC State university while Denise holds an associate degree from University of Maryland. In agreement with the previous owner, Fred and Denise decided to take over and pursue their life long dream in restaurant business, in fact Fred himself was and still is the main breakfast chef while Denise is the one in charge of dinner. Also, if you visit us for dinner, chances are you will be hosted and seated by Fred himself!
