Courtney, at Rootz Salon was great! I asked her to pick my color out and she did beautifully. I also asked her if I needed a trim but she suggested that I just get a deep conditioning. She was so nice and very knowledgeable. I would recommend her highly.

I read the reviews and was hesitant to try Rootz but am SO glad I did! I got my hair colored one day and loved it so much I went back and got a great haircut. Jessie was amazing and was patient with my nervousness (I have super curly hair). The shop was clean and everyone was really friendly. I don’t live in Colorado but when I go back I plan on visiting Rootz again.

After getting a terrible haircut elsewhere in town, I decided to take a friend’s suggestion and go to Rootz. My hair stylist was Jessie and she was absolutely great. She fixed everything I hated about my previous haircut. She was very friendly and professional. The Salon itself is beautiful and comfortable. I will definitely be back to Rootz.

This place is awesome! Ali Rose is the girl to go see for any hair need you may have! I am from Atlanta and have only lived in Vail for barely a year, and as someone who is EXTREMELY picky about who cuts or styles my hair I have to say that Ali Rose is by far the best!!! She has true talent and knowledge about what she does and is always such a pleasure to be around. If you’re ever in the Vail/​Avon area and need anything done hair wise definitely no not hesitate to book an appointment with the lovely and talented Ali Rose at Rootz Hair Salon! You will not be disappointed!

I’m visiting the area for a couple of months and needed a haircut. All I told the receptionist is that my hair is short. Ali cut my hair (actually a few weeks ago) and she did a great job, listened to what I wanted and was courteous and professional. I’ll probably book another session before we start our trek home.

Jill is amazing! She listed to what I wanted with my hair and completely exceeded my expectations! Jill is now my forever hairstylist!

I came in here tonight completely last minute. I made the no-​so-​smart decision to try dying my own hair, yikes. I had Ali, she patiently listened to my concerns and what I was trying to get my hair to look like and after two hours it didn’t turn out the way I wanted. She was more than wonderful and I was planning on leaving (it didn’t look bad by any means just not what I wanted) and she convinced me to stay until I got what I came in for. I let her touch it up again and my hair has never looked better. I dye my hair pretty often, I like to go back and forth between blonde and brunette and this is the best hair color I’ve ever had. She was the only open appointment, I got her by chance, but I will guaranteed go back to her and recommend her to friends; she was patient, understanding and listened to what I wanted. Oh and the place was clean and inviting. Thank you again!

Awful. Just awful. If I could give this place negative stars I would. I’m not one of those girls who’s super picky and always hates my haircuts, but I can honestly say this was one of the worst haircuts I’ve ever gotten.
I wanted a long, blended layered look with bangs. I gave her two pictures for reference and came in with plenty of hair length to work with. What I got was not even close to the pictures. She chopped ALL my hair off, barely gave me any layers, and the layers she did give me were cut straight across, blunt, and choppy (and not in a good way). I wanted side bangs and she basically cut them straight across and moved them over to the side — they weren’t angled or blended at all. It looks like a 2 year old took a pair of scissors to my hair.
My stylist was the owner of the salon. You’d think someone who owns a salon would have a BIT of talent. Just a bit. Not in this case. And I have a friend who also went to this salon — to a different stylist — who ALSO came out with a TERRIBLE haircut, which was not at all what she asked for.
Do yourself a favor and avoid this place!

If you live in the Vail Valley or are up here for a vacation, you must schedule an appointment with Jill Burlingame who is based out of this salon. I found Jill through a friend who has been going to her for years. As soon as I walked in, I was excited for my appointment to begin. Jill was so welcoming and friendly. I’ve had several bad experiences with previous salons, but she set my mind at ease as soon as I sat down in her chair. I could tell by her gentle touch that she thoroughly loves what she does. She is super knowledgeable about styling and hair color.
My appointment was for a cut/​color and full highlights. She had the perfect balance of friendly conversation but also letting me enjoy my magazine. She gives the best head massages as she was shampooing!!! I could feel all the tension draining as she went. I think I was in/​out in about 1hr 45min. Her prices were reasonable considering where the salon is located in a resort community. I also really liked how she didn’t try to push a bunch of product on me to buy. Although, after styling I loved how my hair looked so much that I bought a gel that works great for my hair texture.
I cannot wait to go back to her. I already have my appointment scheduled! They use a great app where it texts to remind me of my appointment.
