The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa at Beaver Creek Mountain

Great place to stay. Very modern and well run. While the gondola access is convenient, the hotel is a little remote from the main ski area, so you can’t really go back for lunch, etc.

My family and I have been coming to this hotel for many years. They have an AMAZING pool, helpful services, great restaurants, an outstanding view of the river, and clean rooms. We only have two problems, 1) The underground parking lot is horrible. There are so many twists and turns and large pillars everywhere. 2) The valet is constantly racing the cars as fast as they can go it’s like Fast and Furious. Except for these problems our stays have always been wonderful and relaxing.

We are timeshare members but this is not our home resort. It’s true that our two trips to this resort have both been in October which is a slower season. This time there were issues getting us the room we requested in advance. An attempt to rectify this the second day was not successful, so a voucher was given to us that we were told did not have to be spend all at once. The bad news is that no one we showed it to said they had ever seen the voucher and they didn’t know how to deal with it. Every time someone had to go back to the front desk and then come back and finish the transaction with us.
The worst service of our stay came from the restaurant Maya. I called the restaurant to place an order to pick up. Twice. No one answered their phone. I called the «special services line» he told me I’d just have to walk over and wait to be helped and then wait for the food. Well that’s special. When my husband asked why no one was answering the phone the response was «we were busy». Really?
We went down for happy hour the next evening and sat outside. The service was poor from timing and service attitude. Knowledge of the menu was also limited. We would have stayed and ordered more when happy hour ended but our server appeared to not care in the least and disappeared when the voucher came out. We believe a manager came back with the voucher to indicate we needed to spend the entire voucher or lose it. We explained what we had been told and he wanted us to go to the reception desk and straighten this out for him. Finally he want himself and came back with a new voucher with the balance indicated.
Oh yeah, the food was just ok at happy hour. Expected something stunning. Compared to other Weston’s we’ve stayed at this was a k-​mart and we usually get Nordstrom level service and food. We left a day early.

We love this place! We were treated to a spa weekend by our daughter, checked in in time for a massage and pedicure. The Westin has pools and hot tubs as well as a full relaxing spa with snacks and sorbets and flavored water. The spa has steam rooms and saunas. The waiting area is mostly quiet with some pool noise if the windows are open. The laughter of children in the pool is actually relaxing to me! Our check in was easy, and we had a generous late check out! There is a Mexican restaurant, Maya in the hotel. It is a Richard Sandoval restaurant, like Tamayo and La Sandia in the Denver area. We enjoyed happy hour there. The hotel gave us each one free margarita which we enjoyed with some delicious appetizers! So, great service kudos go to Paul and Seth who made our stay exemplary! Seth is the Best, so busy that night, but made us feel like we were his most important guests (great Volvo driver!) Paul helped our family with many extras and our logistics. He makes things happen! If we dropped his name, people listened!

I’ve been here 5 or the last 6 years and I’ve been impressed each time we come. The rooms are in beautiful condition and you cannot beat the view. Breathtaking hotel!

I recently had a facial with Tracy at the Spa Anjali. She was absolutely amazing! The treatment was so relaxing, and she had a very gentle and caring way. She took the time after my facial to answer my questions and give me suggestions about my skin care. My skin looked and felt so soft and smooth afterwards. The spa itself is beautiful with a very tranquil atmosphere.
I do have 2 minor compliants. The girls at the front desk could use some training in customer service. They were not very pleasant, which was not what I expected walking into a spa. Also, the parking structure is difficult to navigate and find parking. Overall, I was extremely pleased with my experience.

Beautiful property and conveniently located. Food is better than average as well. Room is well apportioned despite the general corporate style of most Starwood properties.
Sadly, this hotel is no better run than the random, old Westin hotel one might find near the runway of any international airport. We arrive around 2pm with a one-​bedroom w/​sofa-​bed reserved. We ask about any availability for a 2-​bedroom and they say they have one available, which we take at a higher rate, but it wasn’t ready yet.
We have lunch and find out only when the room wasn’t ready after more than an hour that the 2-​bedroom was sold away from us, and they were putting us in a room with an extra half-​bath. Further it would be another half hour until that room would be ready and they were still going to charge us a higher rate. At that point we demand our original room (which was ready when we checked in) and lo and behold it was sold.
So if you are coming to the Beaver Creek area and want a corporate-​feel hotel that is run like a third-​rate pump and dump stock scheme, welcome to the Westin!

I’m rating the spa Anjali only. One of the best deep tissue massages I’ve had in a long time. Mya was amazing. Worked out my pinched nerve problem area and back to the point I was nearly asleep a few times. Aroma therapy options helped sooth and relax into a blissful state. The cold cucumber wash clothes in the steam area were also my favorite! Thank you.

We have stayed at world class hotels all over the world and can quite honestly report that this is the best resort hotel we have ever stayed at. As an SPG member we received a free upgrade to an apartment suite. Most homes are not this well appointed. Starbucks coffee, modern high end kitchen with enough plates and flatware to serve 10. Bose stereo, gas fireplace, balcony overlooking the pool and hot tubs. Two flat screens, and a waterfall type shower. Service was world class. Parking is via valet @ $ 25 per day so be prepared. Warning; you will want to stay more days than you booked! Head to Bobs Place across the way for the best breakfast in town!

We stayed here and the service was horrible. I got bad shrimp on a salad and asked the waiter, Alex, to remove the charge for the shrimp on my meal. Instead, he gave me a new $ 26 salad with more bad shrimp and then charged me for it. When I told the front desk, she said «sorry he is new». Not what I would expect for a Westin. Additionally, the hallways had huge clumps of dog hair and dirty carpets in the rooms.

This is the best, yet most expensive, Westin I have ever stayed at. It is located right next to a beautiful river and has gondola access right to the lifts! Dog friendly is always a plus as we bring our boxer everywhere. He had tons of room right outside our patio to run around and do his business. We took him for walks on the trail right next to the hotel and river.
We stayed in a studio suite with fireplace and walk out patio. The bathroom was huge with shower, tub and double vanity. Lots of closet space, a kitchenette and a pull out sofa bed. Very nice. We were very happy with our room. Room service was pretty good too!
Just a few complaints… the valet got our car filthy! Looked like they went out joy riding. I don’t understand how it can get so muddy when all they do is pull it into an underground garage… so that seemed strange to me.
The front desk doesn’t have it together. It seems as if service express and the front desk don’t communicate. There was a minor issue… I had called ahead before we left Denver to make sure our room was ready (to check in early) and they confirmed it would be. Well it wasn’t… and we had to wait an hour and a half in the lobby. Not a very good start to our vacation. It was frustrating that nobody could give us an ETA either…
All in all — I would stay here again. Very beautiful property and views.

Staci Stejer is an amazing hair stylist! She turned my grey ashy roots into my Nordic blond hair. I’ve had my hair done on the west and east coast. As well as Europe. This is the real deal! You won’t be disappointed. And personality plus!

One of the best Westins I’ve ever visited, and it sits on the banks of a beautiful trout stream in the middle of Colorado. We had a 5-​star experience and due to platinum status with Starwood, got upgraded to a suite, which was kind of necessary with twin sons at my side for 5 nights. The hotel sits at the base of a mountain and the gondola station is literally outside the back door. We were there in the early fall and it wasn’t running but we didn’t care, as we had Vail, Avon, and other mountains to explore.
Our room was amazing in its comfort and size; we had a one bedroom suite with a pull out queen sofa, and a full kitchen loaded with granite and stainless. The bathroom (see photo) was a work of tasteful design.
There is a Mexican restaurant onsite that has great food, great drafts, great comp salsa, and wonderful ambiance, plus there’s a coffee shop (Starbucks…), and a breakfast/​lunch joint as well).
The outdoor heated swimming pool and workout facility is also first class.
I am eagerly planning our next trip to Colorado and will be staying again at the Westin Riverfront Resort!

My new husband and I enjoyed a weekend at The Westin for a mini-​moon after our wedding. We arrived at the hotel and told the gentleman that valeted our car that we had just gotten married. While we were checking in, we were given a bottle of champagne, a small box of chocolates and a hand-​written note welcoming and congratulating us.
We spent the weekend enjoying the lobby bar and the hot tubs. The infinity hot tubs really made our trip. The views are so breathtaking and the entire property makes you feel relaxed from the moment you walk in.
We will definitely be returning!

Let me catch my breath from the beauty! My favorite Westin property! Stunning rooms, excellent spa, huge hot tubs, beautiful fireplaces, massive but cozy lobby! I don’t want to leave.
Good upgrades for Platinum members unlike some Westins. Valet quick and responsive.
Fun time and access to everything.

The Westin Riverfront stands alone with it’s very close proximity to the Eagle River and the the wonderful walking trail that follows along. The hotel itself is beautiful, and comes with the world class customer service I have come to expect from Starwood properties. From the moment the valet took our keys, to the moment we checked in, the process was seamless. The hotel tired its very best to allow us early check-​in even though the hotel was at capacity, which we really appreciated.
Our room was actually a two bedroom suite, with a living room and beautiful fireplace, dining table, a full kitchen and washer and dryer. There were two balconies off of each bedroom offering gorgeous views of the river, mountains and swimming pools below. The room was beautifully decorated, was modern but still warm and inviting. I’ll admit that I plan on taking some design inspiration from my suite in Vail to my home in Chicago!
The one thing you should be aware of when staying here or anywhere in Vail/​Beaver Creek/​Avon s that every hotel charges a nightly resort fee and valet is compulsory if you’re bringing a car due to limited parking around the hotel, thus adding to the nightly cost of your stay. However, the heated pool, hot tubs and all the other amenities offered by the hotel should lessen the blow of the resort fee!
I had a great stay at the Westin Riverfront and would recommend it to friends and family.

After having stayed at other westins, i expected more. The hotel is nice. The exercise facilities are exceptional, and the views extrodinary. On the other hand, the tv in the room functions like a computer from the 80s. They dont have HBO. They dont offer self parking, and charge $ 25 a day for valet. Without asking. As well as $ 20 a day for internet and other unexplained things. Without asking!
The service in the lobby bar and Maya restaurant is nothing short of atrocious. The staff was generally rude and unacommodating.
Wouldnt stay there again. Or recomend it to anyone. :-/

My wife and I stayed here for our one-​year anniversary. Given the special occasion, we wanted to pick a spot that gave us an equally special experience.
Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, that didn’t happen. Although we made the best of our experience, several incidents prevent me from recommending this establishment.
1. When we arrived, we were greeted by one of the surliest front desk staffs ever. Every question we asked was met with a snide response.
2. We were told we had a room with «a great mountain view.» Really, we got a room with a view of a walking path and some electrical boxes.
3. When we arrived, our hallway smelled of vomit. We called the front desk and asked to be transferred, whereupon we were told, «I’m not sure we have any other rooms available» (despite the fact that we were at a *huge* ski resort in the middle of summer and very few other people were there). The front desk told us they’d get back to us; they never did. About 20 minutes later, someone turned on a large fan, which helped, but still.
4. One night before heading out to dinner, we had a drink in the hotel bar. The bartender was clearly more interested in counting her current tabs than helping us; right off the bat, we were told to «hold on» and when she finally took our order, she replied with a brusque «what?» when I told her I wanted a glass of chardonnay.
Overall, very disappointing experience.

My issue with this property is the management. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the valets who immediately informed us of the $ 25/​night mandatory parking fee in addition to the $ 20/​night resort charge. I can see that these are probably reasonable at high season, but on the shoulder season in late May-​early June? Meh.
Secondly, upon entering the hotel, we are greeted by a very sweet «concierge», who really does quite a nice job in directing us to hiking trails and restaurants which are still offering spring specials (unlike their parking fees). The reason I enquote concierge is because of what she did next. She then asked if we would like to have a 90 minute tour of the fractional shares being offered at the facility. We’re in a high end resort in CO, and now we are being accosted by a time share salesperson, masquerading as a concierge? Please, leave that to the guys in Cozumel.
Thirdly, friends decided to visit for the evening, and self parked. Upon departure, they were charged $ 50 for less than 12 hours of parking. Obviously a mistake, we read the sign which posted rates of: $ 30-​shoulder season; $ 40-​Memorial day-​Labor day; $ 50-​peak ski season. $ 40 was a rip-​off for self parking, but $ 50 was an absolute overcharge. I called the desk which informed me that they would refund the difference with a receipt of proof of payment. My friends had left. Too bad for them; another strike for the greedy management.
We decided to shorten our stay from 5 nights to 4 nights. Because our reservation was made via Starpoints, I was told that I needed to give them a call to have those credited back to my account. I called. When that operator came back to me, I was told that the manager of the hotel had decided that she would hold me to the hotel’s cancellation policy rule, and refused to credit for the shortened stay. Nice, right? I stay 4 nights, upgrade with cash to a 1 bedroom suite in an off peak, mid week resort, and she was going to keep my points. Upon calling the manager directly, she obliged by stating that she would credit back for the 1 night.
So we check out. The bill included 5 days of upgrade, not 4. Maybe this was just sloppy, maybe just greedy. The desk clerk makes the adjustment, and away we go, but this morning I open the emailed guest folio only to see that we were charged for an additional day for the resort fee AND parking! Really?
Sloppy or greedy? I don’t know, but if you intend to visit this property, be prepared to check your wallet. I never write these Unilocal reviews, but these little annoyances made the trip less enjoyable. Caveat emptor, baby; caveat emptor.

Lovely place to stay off season!
Beautiful accommodations: big, comfy bed, huge bathroom and stunning views. The amenities were also wonderful, nice gym and pool and hot tub. The resort fee and valet parking was steep: $ 20/​day resort fee and $ 25 valet, but we were prepared for that as we did are research before booking and it seems most nice hotels have a resort fee these days anyway. Staff was okay, nothing outstanding, but not bad either.
All in all we had a nice stay here and I would certainly consider coming back during the off season.
