In summary, I’m sure these people run a profitable business, but they do it by providing exceptionally poor service. I wouldn’t waste my time even stopping by, and if you have clothes to sell, save yourself the frustration and either use eBay or give them to a charity.
I’ve shopped here, but not bought anything due to the high prices. They’re unreasonably high, and their sales bring the prices down just to only a little unreasonable.
I don’t often buy used clothes though, so an over-​priced consignment shop isn’t likely to get me to write a Unilocal review. My real problem with them was when selling clothes. My girlfriend took some of our nicer used clothes — twenty-​odd items — to them, and we received an itemized list along with estimated sales prices. One of the items we had was an unworn, un-​altered men’s suit in 40 regular that had retailed for around $ 500 st Jos. A. Bank. (I paid considerably less on one of their sales.) They sell well on eBay new with tags, which this one was, for $ 100-​$ 125, but we wanted to try consignment. They estimated $ 70 as the sales price, which sounded a little low, especially after seeing their prices in their store, but for the convenience of dropping stuff off to sell all at once, I didn’t care. She had several things that were of considerable value as well, and I had a couple of other items that should have gotten around $ 35 — $ 50 each, according to our own estimates and the store’s.
What we actually got, instead of the $ 200 or more we were hoping for was only $ 70, which we just split evenly, since it wasn’t worth picking through. We got none of the clothes back. I had gone by and seen my clothes for sale. I don’t recall the prices of them all, but the suit was priced around $ 175 — more than I had paid new, though I had bought it on a very good sale. The documentation we received on which items sold, or what any of them sold for was difficult to decipher. I couldn’t determine if the suit sold, or what for if it did. I went by with our letter to ask what the deal was, and why the huge discrepancy from the estimates, and talked to a woman who seemed to have a hard time with facts. I left more frustrated and angrier than before.

I just discovered this place and I can already tell I am going to be a frequent shopper. I stopped in one day and found 2 very cute tops and paid $ 16 total for both. They had brands that I really like (LOFT, Gap, Banana Republic, etc) and the racks were very organized. Some of the items I saw were a bit odd, but most seemed pretty mainstream. I decided to clean out my closet and start a consignment account there and they took 21 of my 25 items. I did make sure that my items were not worn out and were clean and ironed. They set you up with an online account so you can track what you sell and how much money you make which is great. I was surprised to see so many negative reviews on their customer service… I had great customer service on both occasions. Process was well explained to me and they were happy to answer any questions. I am so glad I found this place and am looking forward to shopping and consigning more here!

I’ve had experience with them as a buyer and a seller. I tried to sell some of my used clothing twice and they’re very strict about items. Only accept brand/​trendy things and has to be a minimum of 10 items. I didn’t sell anything.
As a buyer, I find that their prices are high. They’re focused on brand names and charge accordingly. But I’m an avid shopper at Macy’s and I get better deals on brands and new clothing there than here. Sometimes I have found good deals when they cut the prices. I don’t shop here frequently but check it out once in a while when I’m in the area.

My experience at Finder’s Keepers was so poor. Let me start off by saying that I am a pretty laid back customer. I don’t expect to be treated like a queen, but I do expect at least to be treated kindly, as any other person would expect when walking into a business. This did not happen at Finder’s Keepers. I was very excited to go because I often consign and shop with the Finders Keepers Boutique in Decatur and have only had exemplary experiences over there. This store was a different story. I pulled into the parking lot where (the owner, I guess?) was getting a bucket of water and then began talking to some young girls in another car. As I began to walk in, the woman began walking in, so I greeted her with a friendly hello, and she promptly cut me off to sternly tell me that I had entered the parking lot in the wrong direction. I understood how that could be bothersome to her and I apologized, telling her I had gotten confused because I had never been to the area before. This was her chance to recognize I was a new customer and treat me like a human being and somebody who may want to return, but instead she said nothing else and walked away shaking her head, walking into the store, and allowing the door to close in front of me. I should have ran away then, but I did want to see the store since I enjoy the boutique so much. When I walked in, all the other employees seemed to have the same attitude as the first woman. I was never greeted, never smiled at, and never asked if I needed a fitting room or any help. I was rummaging through a rack of dresses when one employee holding other dresses impatiently said, «I need to get in there.» I had a few items in my hand at the point, but that was the point at which I knew it wasn’t worth it and I didn’t want to support this business. Items and prices were OKAY, but nothing to endure that treatment! I am all about small business, so it made me sad that this one was such a poor representation of the small business world. I will not be returning, and would never recommend to any of my friends.

So I am not too surprised that this place has like two stars. Not great prices for used things, less than great deals for your stuff and some pretty snotty sales help. The rules are vastly important here. Bring everything on a hanger and only 25 pieces! Expect to get most of it back with sighs of how it isn’t in style, wrong season, it has a spot etc. I have had some success with sales but one does have to put up with an attitude that reminds me of used record stores where they act like they are doing you some huge favor when the give you a quarter for your record.
So Reason for previous comment. Went to aclothing consignment shop with some stuff. Finders Keepers Consignments in Avondale and was surprised and a bit dismayed at the lack of courtesy and adherance to THE RULES! They want your stuff on hangers and most of mine was except that I had about five pairs of shorts in a bag along with other stuff (hats ETC) that certainly would not go on a hanger. Also mind you, there was no one else waiting. Just me and store help. Manager???)refused to look at my shorts because they were not on a hanger… Really? There are literally hundreds of hangers behind the counter. I asked if I could use a few for the shorts. Answer-​NO. I said never mind, I am leaving. She said don’t get nasty or I will call police. Really? I left. I did go back to get here name and owner/​manager contact. I wrote to owner and got back a note (not even from her…)that defended the strict adherence to rules. This was not about rules. This was a power play from a small player and I suppose one supported by the actually management. Too bad. Never going back. Posting this on Unilocal. Great work. Good job. Way to grow business. Beware!

I’m surprised that not a lot of reviews have written and that the ones that are were pretty much negative. I have lived in this area for about 16 years and have been thrifting for the last 5 years of so. I’ve used Unilocal ever since I found out about it and couldn’t wait to write about my experience with my favorite locations. Finders Keepers is one of those spots. I know the staff by name and its wonderful to see the same friendly faces each time I walk in. In November and December I had two engagements that I needed accessories for the staff «broke their neck» to help me find. The store is in an awesome spot and has been here for years. I’ve consigned with them a few times too. I just recently got a new job that I began on 1÷5÷15 but I liked it so much here that I filed out an application to work here back in December. If they ever allow me to work one day a week, I would do it in a heart beat.

The only reason this store gets one star from me is because I’ve found decent clothes here. However, I hate, hate, hate consigning with them. They have inflexible, unpredictable policies and trying to time it when you can actually drop off your stuff and wait is a serious pain. I’m in search of another consignment shop in the area that doesn’t present so many hoops to jump through.

I was so disappointed with this place. From the poor customer service to the fact they they won’t accept less than 10 items for a first time consignment. I guess they are just too good for my measly 4 items. One of the associates told me they there too short handed to deal with my items at first… there was 2 people on the store… I just don’t get it.

I visit the store everyday Mon-​Fri on my lunch hour. I wanted to purchase a shoe the clerk Jamelia look for the shoe for thirty minutes could not find the shoe. I returned to the store on a Monday inquiring about the shoe again. Jamelia stated she would look for shoe and contact me that was the day before Labor Day. I received a voice mail on 9÷3÷2014 (time, message recorded) Jamelia has found the shoe. I call on 9÷4÷2014 spoke with Jessica to let her know I was going to get the shoe on Saturday 9÷6÷2014 she spoke with Jamelia who stated she called me last week and left the message. That was a LIE. I tried to explain to Jessica I had the voice mail as proof. I asked Jessica were the shoes still in the store «I don’t know they may be» Jessica was rude to the point I told her that was OK I did not want the shoe. Jessica actions were unprofessional.

I’ve really become a fan of buying high end labels used at thrift stores or consignment stores. This is a consignment store, so both the prices and the quality are higher than at a thrift store. Store is clean, well kept, and thus far the staff have been very friendly. This location has both men’s and women’s clothing. I’ll be making a run here once a month (since it’s literally right up the street from Second Life, my favorite thrift store that has a sale about once a month).

Decent thrift store that is trying to be upscale and the prices seemed a bit high and somewhat random.
No kids or baby section but parking was easy.

Oh, my. I am shocked at the negative reviews for this store. I have never had a bad experience here. The staff has always been kind and helpful and I always find something that I’d like to buy.
The items I’ve snagged here include:
–A mint condition cashmere cardigan sweater set by Pringle of Scotland, top of the line, for ~ $ 25 – dirt cheap.
–a really nice black purse/​tote bag which just fit the bill for carrying my laptop and my wallet, etc. as well
–A pair of Calvin Klein jeans, again, like new, for $ 12:99
–Two pairs of almost like-​new business-​y shoes for $ 30-​ish total
…the list goes on.
Frankly, many of the clothes are of higher quality than what you find in a decent department store today. High-​quality Items made in the USA and/​or Hong Kong are not uncommon. (This is not a slam on the countries cranking out today’s mass market clothing. It seems we just don’t want to pay for well-​made clothing that has to be made in better than sweatshop conditions.)
Even my husband likes to shop here!
The items are always well-​organized and clean or dry-​cleaned. In some cases, the dry cleaning itself makes the garment worth purchasing. No, the atmosphere is not on par with Neiman-​Marcus (or Needless Markup, as we called it in college) and I’ve been to a couple of consignment stores that were fancier, but it’s a very reasonably priced consignment store, people, and it’s good enough for me. I do think that an upgrade from the current fluorescent tube lighting would be a reasonable investment, but I can live with it.
I’ve never encountered any snooty, uncaring or nasty staff. To the contrary, I think the service is better than you find in Macy’s or even higher end stores. Heck, at least there’s always someone at the cash register!
As for the owner, I’ve seen her working in the trenches with the troops, which scores BIG points with me. My opinion of her haircut is irrelevant and I wish reviewers wouldn’t use such irrelevant criticisms which can only be hurtful.
I am getting together some items to consign, which is a hassle, especially since I forgot that I should have brought fall/​winter clothing in August instead of summer items. Duh! I imagine it’s a pain to get that stuff checked in. But it’s easier than doing a garage sale, and at least you make a little money. Face it – old clothing and furniture just isn’t worth much. But it doesn’t cost much, either.
Five stars for this store and the other FK outlets. To me, they represent consignment done right.

I’m going to break this into two parts… from a shopper’s view and from some trying to make a buck’s view.
Shopper’s View:
The store is filled with a large amount and variety of clothing, so I just about find something I want here every time. Most of the items are fairly priced, while some things stick out has either being way over or way under-​priced, which leads you to believe that the staff is a bit confused. I would suggest going here during a sale, assuming that you can deal with the crowds. They have something for everyone’s taste, and most people’s size. Beware of the mirror at the end of the changing room hallway, I believe it makes you look skinnier than that dress actually does.
Seller’s View:
God this place is a pain. The staff is not afraid, and I believe even makes sport out of embarrassing and insulting you. They take your clothes into a back room for 25 to 45 minutes and «discuss» what it’s worth. We had an account there years ago, and all I can remember is barely getting anything for your clothes, but I guess that goes without saying when you are selling them to a thrift store. We tried to start up an account there again recently, so we packed up about 45 pieces, all gently used, not out of style, and some that we had even got there a year or so ago. Guess what, they said we didn’t have 10 desirable pieces to start an account on. LOL. they were the right season, and looked just like the types of clothes on the racks. Also they said they wouldn’t take them loud, in front of everyone, and with a grin. We sold them somewhere else, and made more than we would have made at Finders Keepers anyways. We were just trying to get rid of some stuff and do them a favor, since we’ve been shopping there for over 7 years.

I use to go to church with the store owners. I generally find cool stuff here. They always have really amazing accessories. Their shoes are usually top notch.

Great, cool, eclectic, nostalgic knickknacks.
Employees are all sweet, informative, helpful and courteous. And this location is like 3 min from good eats!

RUDE RUDE RUDE
I just tried to take some very high quality, brand-​new clothing to this shop and had an awful experience. Most of the items still have tags, and are in perfect shape and brand names. The owner (I think this is who it is… bad hair, awful attitude) told me that she WOULD NOT take items without hangers and that I had to be there BEFORE 4:00. Now mind you, her staff NEVER TOLD ME THIS on the phone.
It seems as others all have the same experience. I’m not quite sure how this store stays in business… if you can’t get nice folks to consign with you!

A friend and I went in there today for some specific things — nightstands, coffee table. Much of the furniture seemed a bit overpriced for what it was. Why do all second-​hand stores ITP sell their stuff as «antique?» Not EVERYTHING is an antique, and putting a $ 300 price tag on a used, ugly, circa-​1970 coffee table isn’t going to make it so.
Anyways, Im going back soon because they DID have these GORGEOUS King Louis chairs that were extraordinarily overpriced and upholstered in leopard-​print, but Im going to see if they’ll take an offer (and yes, of course I’d be re-​upholstering them). Ill report back on that experience.
We had no experience thus far with the sales staff, so I can’t comment on that.

I’ve never tried to sell clothes here, but I’ve had good luck buying items, many times. They have pretty good selections and things organized so they’re easy to find.

I went to Finders Keepers for the first time with a bag of clothes to attempt to sell, unaware of any of their policies. I was given contradicting information from every employee I encountered and treated like an idiot for not knowing what I needed to do after walking through the doors for the first time. It was a drawn out 30 – 45 minute experience which left me feeling embarrassed and quite disrespected. I will never go in the store again and wouldn’t suggest that anyone subject themselves such rude employees. I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK!

My experience here was so bad I wrote a letter to the owner of the store. The staff so rude, even the other patrons were outraged. Anyway, I’ve pasted the letter I wrote to the owner below.
Ms. Kallenberg,
I am writing to tell you how disappointed I am in your store’s policies regarding allowing those who wish to consign goods with your place of business. I live in the neighborhood and every season have friends over for a clothes swap. Many have suggested that I take my items to Finders Keepers before hand to see if they would take any for consignment. Today, being a beautiful day, I neatly folded my clothes and placed them in re-​usable bags, took a bag of hangers, and rode my bicycle to your store. When I arrived, I let the woman behind the desk know I was interested in having my items looked at for consignment. Rudely, she told me items had to be hung to be looked at. Indicating that I had brought hangers and would be glad to hang them, she told me that I could not hang items in the store as it is bad for business. Ms. Kallenberg, certainly you can understand how ironic this statement is, considering your place of business relies on people bringing in their goods to the survival of your stores.
More so than the rude treatment I received in your store (which, having looked at reviews of Finders Keepers after I was turned away, seems to be the norm rather than the exception), I am truly disheartened at how unfriendly your policies are to those who seek to lessen their footprint on the environment. To require that people drive to your place of business when they live in easy bicycle commuting distance seems wasteful and certainly a detriment to the neighborhood. Does Avondale Estates not pride itself on being a walkable part of Atlanta? What about those who use public transportation to get around the city? Are they not able to consign with you as well? I always thought of Finders Keepers as a neighborhood store — now I see I was sadly mistaken.
I will not be returning to Finders Keepers to consign or to shop, and I will be letting my friends, co-​workers, and those at my synagogue know about your policies and how your staff feels they should treat your customers, as well as the environmental impact you require people to make when they choose to consign with you. I am thoroughly disappointed in my experience at your store.
