Specialties

Second Life has two upscale thrift stores in the Atlanta area that were created with the mission of giving homeless pets a second chance at life. Our stores share a parking lot so you can park once and shop twice.

Our stores sell gently-​used clothing, housewares, books, décor, furniture and more… all of which are donated. In turn, we support animal rescue charities and spay/​neuter programs with much-​needed cash grants.

You may see Riley, our Chief Smile Officer roaming the aisles looking for an ear scratch. Or come meet our foster kittens and cats in our stores — they are looking for their forever homes.

Our goal is to offer our customers a unique and fun shopping experience where every purchase benefits homeless pets and spay/​neuter programs. Find a treat for yourself and give homeless pets a second chance at life!

Donations of gently-​used items are needed year-​round and can be donated during open store hours. No appointment is necessary. We are a 501©(3) organization and donations are tax deductible. Well-​behaved pets on a leash are welcome.

History

Established in 2011.

Second Life Upscale Resale was inspired by our adopted Dalmatian, Lucky who got us involved in animal rescue. As one of our first foster dogs, we instantly fell in love-​and the once «unadoptable» dog inspired a new career and passion to help others adopt deserving pets.

While volunteering for animal rescues, we realized the great need that animal rescue organizations and spay/​neuter programs had for financial support. Thus, Second Life was created to help give homeless pets a second chance at life.

We opened Second Life, an upscale thrift store, to raise funds so we could help be a solution to Atlanta’s pet overpopulation problem and to educate.

Did you know more than 80,000 healthy, adoptable dogs and cats lose their lives every year in area shelters because people don’t spay/​neuter — or they buy from breeders.

We hope to give these wonderful shelter pets a second chance at life — and provide a fun shopping experience to our customers.

I like this place. Great place to shop for second hand items and great place to donate items to. All proceeds go to support animal rescue and you can bring your dog with you to shop which is fun. The selection here varies a lot based on recent donations, but everything is more than reasonably priced. I have found some stellar items here on some trips. Staff has been friendly and nice every time I have been. They also frequently have a cat or kittens for adoption. I like to support this place! It’s a great shop to have in the community.

This is such a great little shop!
Be sure to visit both locations, you can park between the 2 buildings.
One building is mainly clothing, the other is an adorable «curiosity shop».
I always find great quality, low priced housewares when I go there, and their sale days are monthly (Tuesdays? /​not sure /​call and ask) are EXTREMELY generous.
Additionally, proceeds help local animals.
High quality items, low budget friendly prices, friendly staff, and a charitable cause: what’s not to love?

This place has a little bit of everything at great prices. Plus, there’s a different sale each day! No matter what, also know you are supporting a good cause — helping homeless animals. Take a look at the facts on the artwork on the walls and share them with your friends to encourage them to ADOPT, DON’T SHOP for pets!

Great selection but the store diva’s attitude can make your shopping experience horrific! I had a horrible experience when the snobby boy behind the counter copped an attitude with me because he was too lazy to wrap GLASS ornaments in paper so they wouldn’t break! He placed all three glass ornaments in a paper bag together with nothing between them. I told him they would be lucky to make it home in one piece without wrapping and he told me not to «pop any wheelies on the way home»! He then accused me of having an attitude because I didn’t ask him politely to wrap them. At that point I asked to speak to his manager and he told me I was in the way and to get away from his counter!
I spoke to both the manager and the owner who both apologized to me but it appeared obvious they weren’t going to do anything about the clerk who was so incredibly rude to me. If they had asked him to apologize to me, I wouldn’t be writing this review right now. I got the impression that this was not the first time they had complaints about that particular employee.
I chose not to spend my money with them because of the poor customer service and I highly doubt if I will ever spend a dime in their store again. I own a rescued dog and love to support businesses that help save animals. I’ll happily spend my money exclusively at Fur Kids from now on!
One final note about my experience today is that when I left Second Life I ran into 3 different people who witnessed what had happened in the store and they ALL said Second Life had the worst attitudes and customer service of any thrift store in the city of Atlanta. I have to agree and will avoid this thrift store like the plague until they seriously consider removing that nasty little diva boy from behind the counter!

I love this place! I love that they donate their profits to local animal rescues groups. The store is clean and neat and the staff/​volunteers are very friendly. I usually find something here. They had recently gone up on prices on brand items but it’s still affordable. There’s usually a sale on selective dates or items. I donate and shop here often.

Really nice store! clothing is separated by size and are hung on wooden hangers. The staff is really nice. A fair amount of high end inventory sprinkled throughout. If you are looking for some records, they have quite a few — along with cds, dvds, and vhs.
Love that the shop supports local animal charities.
Don’t forget to go to the restaurant next door for a darn good corny dog.

A great thrift store feels like a cross between an antique shop and a Marshals that sometimes has that piece of clothing you wanted for like $ 5.
This is a great shop to just hop into on the regular. Book selection is good. The kitchen area is nice. The whole store is neat and organized and clean.

Good, well organized thrift store with a lot of stuff and decent prices. Plus, the sales go towards supporting homeless animals such as those at PAWS. Some of the bigger players in the secondhand retail market pay their executives way too much at the expense of supporting their advertised mission (not mentioning names).
There are two buildings to the store, with a parking lot in between. The smaller building on the left has more of the home décor type of stuff while the larger one has everything else, like clothes, shoes, kitchen items, electronics and books.

My favorite thrift store by far. I first visited Second Life not too longer after they first opened in 2011 and go frequently throughout the year. I have and will absolutely continue to support them. Like someone else said, the most beautiful souls work here and what they do absolutely benefits animals, makes impacts on our metro Atlanta communities and other places/​ways I can’t even begin to imagine. I’ve donated my stuff to them countless times and bought a whole range of items including clothes, kitchen items, jewelry, furniture/​rugs, and more. The store is very organized and they consistently seek to make the store even better. Their communication whether via email or other social media etc and whether it’s about their sales or a pet in need of foster/​rescue is excellent. They are exactly why I do not feel compelled to shop at malls :) And plus, it benefits the animals! Why not?

I swear, the most beautiful souls work here. Ive never felt more welcomed walking into a store before until I entered here. I didn’t realize there was a furniture store next door. When my friend and I walked in we were treated so nicely, we had to buy SOMETHING lol — that’s how they get me. Im such a sucker for genuine people. The prices are fair and the items are pretty decent. The clerk told us about the store next door and how they carried designer items (I guess because I was carrying a designer handbag). I was tempted to look but I was on a business mission on this shopping trip. I guess I looked tired while trying to decide on a piece and the lady told me to take a seat on the couch and relax for a moment. Another gentleman walked in with a big beautiful brown dog. He said he was the store’s mascot. He came over to sniff me out. This store has such a lovely vibe, Untiiiiiil a girl from next door came over to confront one of the guys about something really petty but they worked it out nicely. I wasn’t eavesdropping, they were talking loud enough lol but I was totally okay with that — they worked it out.
Funny story happened when we left. My friend ran out of gas soooo we walked back in to find out if the clerk had a gas can. He checked everywhere and even checked to see if someone had donated one. No luck, There’s a police station next door so my friend thought that she would ask the officers if they had a gas can that she could borrow. Yeah right. They didn’t even think twice. The clerk told us to go to Chevron down the street and ask the attendant to borrow a gas can lol I was like damn are people this nice around Avondale Estates? It didn’t work lol not even sure of my friend asked. She just sucked it up and asked for $ 20 worth of gas in a one-​gallon gas can. That was hilarious.
Anyway, I will definitely be in the area again and will make sure I take a peak and look for some Prada shoes the gentleman next door was talking about ;-)

I can’t say enough good things about this store. I always find something great here, the dressing rooms are nice, and the hangers are easy to go through (nice wood ones). It’s simply a nicer thrift shop than most. There are always sales going on too!
If you’re lucky there are doggies running around which is always fun for the kids.

Wow, I think this is the first time that I liked a thrift store. Things are organized well, and the store is clean and nice looking. Best of all, prices are still great!
I got 4 pieces of clothing for about $ 15. Score! I’ll be back again, and will bring some donations too. Love that the profits support the animals :)

I am a thrifting afficionado and I really love this thrift store. It’s not dirt cheap, but it’s almost always full of quality items in good condition. I really like this store because their shoes are oftentimes higher-​end shoes with little wear on them. They also have days when they are having specials, which makes the deals even sweeter. I really enjoy shopping here also because I like their mission.

Love donating to Second Life and taking a peak at what others have donated while passing through, the furnishings next door are pretty stellar as well. It’s another great charity to donate clothing and other items to with the added bonus that the proceeds go to animal rescue… of which both of my fur-​babies are. The place is well-​organized and everyone’s always super-​friendly!

Second Life is the nicest (and cleanest) thrift store in Atlanta. They always have an inventory flush with high quality clothes and shoes. The staff works hard to give it a «boutique» feel throughout the store.
To call Second Life just a thrift store is an understatement. In addition to finding awesome bargains, all proceeds are donated to animal rescue and programs preventing pet overpopulation. I can’t think of a better cause!

This is an excellent little thrift store. By far one of the cleanest and most organized that I’ve been to around Atlanta. And they get bonus points for the adorable doggies roaming around.
Although I didn’t buy anything on this particular trip, I can usually find something that catches my eye. They have great deals and all for an even better cause.

This is the nicest second hand store I’ve ever been to. Its super clean and well-​organized, with friendly volunteer staff eager to help you find what you’re looking for. The clothes are sized fabulously and everything is in order, making it easy to find what you’re looking for without much trouble. I lucked out on a day where if you spent $ 15, you got $ 5 off. I scored two awesome Ann Taylor suit jackets and a fabulous blouse for $ 15. Nice!
Most importantly, shop here and you WILL support a good cause. I love that Second Life is so involved in the community and is willing to help out puppies who need to find their second life. :)
I will definitely go back, I will definitely donate items to here instead of Goodwill, and I hope to host more volunteer dog adoption events here soon!

Such a great cause! Such a deal!
I was pleasantly surprised to find that all clothes and accessories were half off the day that I visited.
They are going for a consignment store feel at thrift store prices, with beautiful dressing rooms and higher end items, and it’s working just fine for me.
Scored a glass tea infuser, BRep linen pants, white jeans, shorts and a very cool bold print jacket. Left a happy happy shopper @ $ 16.
I’m actually going to start volunteering there, so say hi if you pop in.
