Taqueria Y Quesadillas

I was craving for tacos so I decided to search for a Mexican food place on Unilocal and I found this one, it’s kind of near the Metro Gold Line.
I’m not an expert on Mexican food since I rarely eat it, but the cashier was kind enough to help me figure out what kind of tacos I wanted. I got the carne asada tacos and they’re really good. I also got free tortilla chips! They have a $ 0.99 taco deal every Tuesday too, and some other days but I can’t understand Spanish. I regret only buying four tacos. I’d definitely come back!

Service is fast. Food is supper tasty! However they do not accept anything but cash. There is an atm in the doughnut shop right next to it. If they accepted credit/​debit card payments it would be more convenient. Overall the food is great. The carne asada nachos have a lot of meat, and you get a lot for what you pay for.

Best veggie burrito in 20 mile radius.

Ok here’s the deal, I am a Mexican food nut! So I’m hard to please. That being said, here’s my review.
I’m giving this place 4 stars simply because their al pastor tacos are so darned good! Especially when they have this chunky green salsa available (sometimes they don’t).
Now that being said, I did try other tacos – the fish, carne asada, chicken and pork. They are okay. Nothing to dream about at night. The Al Pastor is definitely where it’s at and you’ve got to eat it on the spot. Taking a 15 min. trip home, not as good.
On the service end, it’s okay. If you speak Spanish that will help a lot because most of the people do not speak English, so when they don’t understand you they just smile. The beans and rice aren’t that hot either, especially the beans. The prices are super cheap though. You almost feel it’s unfair of them to charge so iittle for those tacos.
It’s also in a small old strip mall, so if you’re going, you are there strictly for the food, not ambience.
All in all, I go back whenever I feel like some al pastor!

This place is a few streets away from my house and its really good Mexican food. Not mediocre. The onion rings are freashly made and really delicious. The tacos are all really good, priced far less than your average «guadalupes» restaurant or «padillas» down the block.
My fav plate is the Chilaquiles, over easy eggs, and some salsa, bombcom.
The fish tacos are okay, they have a lot of breading than fish, but still good.
This place I give 4 stars just because its a small joint and does well even with Maxs restaurant down the street.

*This place is called Toluca Mexican Food now. All personnel and menu items appear to be the same though. Except for the offering of teriyaki painted on the window. ??
3.5 stars for BREAKFAST! Minus ½ star because I really don’t like their non-​breakfast tacos here. Excellent egg and cactus tacos. (know how to say NOPALES, because one of the ladies does not know the word cactus), bionicos (Mexican fruit salad) and Pambazos (like a guajillo dipped torta).
I have tried the other tacos there, and have not been too impressed and a couple of times just turned off. The fattiest cabeza and lengua I have ever had. Flavorless chicken and asada. I like Pepe’s tacos on Sierra Madre better for that area, but for BREAKFAST, this is place is the GREAT because its open early and has my breakfast essentials available and done very well! I don’t know. Possible 4 starts just for my breakfast items I love.
Breakfast #1:
Fresh made JUGOS (JUICES). A nice cleansing and refreshing fresh pressed juice.
This is option #2 on the juice board, Naranja, manzana, piña, limón. (Orange, apple, pineapple, lemon).
Breakfast #2: CACTUS AND EGG TACOS (huevos y nopales). Not on the menu, but ask and you shall recieve. SOO generous with that cactus. This photo is older, but the last time I got these, they were so full of egg and cactus, the tortilla didn’t even come close to closing all the way around. Needed a fork to eat them. Good stuff.
Breakfast #3:
BIONICOS! Which is just fruit salad Mexican style. All the fruits your body wants in the morning, topped with coconut, granola, raisins and crema w/​sweetened condensed milk. Mmmm.
Breakfast #4:
PAMBAZOS! The bread gets its red tint from being dipped in guajillo chili sauce and stuffed with chorizo and potatoes and garnished with some crema, cotija cheese and lettuce. This is the splurg breakfast of these three. The fat grams and white refined flour and chorizo is worth it, though. You don’t find Pambazos to readily available around these parts, so I really enjoy it here.

Cabeza Taco: Meh.

I’m addicted to this place! My good friend actually told me about this hole in the wall. I never would have tried it if he hadn’t pointed out this place. If you can’t find it, there’s a «Bionicos» sign in colorful writing. I love tacos and I love a good lengua taco.
First off, the prices are pretty cheap. I’ve only tried the tacos from this place and the my favorites are the al pastor, lengua, and the carne asada. I’ve met the owner of this place and she’s a really nice lady. I always ask for extra lime, and she gives me a full bag of lime.
They have a pretty extensive menu, complete with bionicos, chamangos, and aqua frescas. I have still yet to try their other dishes.
I would recommend this place for anyone in the area who loves a good taco for a good price. The service may take a while because they make their tacos fresh but it’s worth the wait!

Honestly, when I saw this place opening up. I thought «Oh gosh, ANOTHER Mexican place???» Azusa is pretty much known for Mexican only. I’ve found a few of my favorite Mexican places around the neighborhood already and never really thought about stopping in UNTIL… I saw fellow Unilocaler Michael W.‘s review. (He gave 5 Stars… that that means they must be decent!).
Anyway, ordered fish tacos, chicken tacos, & asada tacos.

The portion size was decent for the price. I got the plate and the tummy was satisfied afterwards, but not super stuffed like how other places give you SO MUCH food and you pay like$ 13 for it. Here… only $ 5.00~!
Seriously, I loved their carne asada… so much flavor. Fish tacos were also very good. As other people have mentioned, the menu is pretty much all in Spanish & the employees there can barely speak English, so time to bust out the high school Spanish skills! The place does appears to be family owned and it was very clean inside (They were even wiping down the trash bin). Glad we stopped it and gave it a shot. I will be back! :)

This place works great when your hungry.
I’m pretty lucky, I almost didn’t stop here.
I first stopped at Chacha’s Mexican Restaurant, but walked out, after being seated, I never saw anyone again for over 10 minutes. Please chips, salsa, piece of mexican candy something, I need some food. Nope just noise from the kitchen and yelling at kids in the back. Yep I’ll be back real soon.
Walked out and drove less then 1 block and saw an odd glow coming from this small beat up shopping center yeah it’s a taco shop, it’s open, cheap tacos.
Once I stopped I took a look on Unilocal to see if it’s been reviewed, YES 5 Stars from my fellow Unilocaler Michael W. it’s gotta be pretty good.
Once you walk in you notice the place is pretty clean, which is always a plus. It’s also a family run taco shop.
There was a little girl, looked like she was maybe 11 years old and 4 feet high. At first I didn’t know she was waiting to take my order. So after about 3 – 4 minutes of looking at the menu, she asked would I like to order, sure 3 tacos and soda $ 4.35, then I asked for a small side of rice and beans. $ 3.00 that seemed a little high, but what the fuck, I’m hungry.
Not to be mean, but during the time I was there the little girl walked around to the front of the counter, Jesus Christ she is a mom, poor girl looked like a small fat belly pig. Where the hell did the baby come from. Anyways the tacos where pretty damn good.
3 Tacos and Rice and Beans.
Al Pastor Taco, great flavor, meat was cooked just right, tender, sweet taste of adobo sauce with garlic and maybe some house seasoning. Left I great taste in your mouth. With onions, cilantro with red or green sauce on the side, use the green. 4.5
Carnitas Taco, another awesome taco, pulled pork cooked just to the point of almost over cooked, with a small amount of heat to the meat, I could taste some garlic and small hint of vinegar and some sugar (most likely brown) also came with onions and cilantro. 4
Carne Asada Taco, this was the worst of the 3, which was still pretty good, better then most taco shops. Meat was over cooked, not burnt but over cooked, I little tough to eat, chewy but not in an all the great way. But it did have some good flavor, seasoning, garlic, cumin with onions and cilantro. 3
All the tacos came with 2 small tortillas, not real mini, but small.
The red and green sauce come in a squeeze bottles, this is a big plus in my book. I wish more taco shop would do this.
Also the bathroom are clean, but a small warning, within 30 second of entering the bathroom the lights go off so make it quick.
3 tacos, rice and beans Mexican coke. $ 7.35, plus tip.

Yet another Mexican food joint in Azusa. But this one is really good. Everything we ordered was freshly made and had lots of flavor. Lots of dishes I’ve never heard of but cant wait to try. They also make fresh juices, raspados (a little bit too sweet) and healthy veggie drinks from scratch.
Really cheap, employees were ok, salsas were fresh and tasted good.

I went here on a Wednesday for the 3 tacos for 1.25 deal which is an extremely good deal. I got the al pastor, the chicken, and carnitas. The carnitas were kinda dry but they were okay. The chicken was decent but the al pastor was hands down the best! Really really good. The best al pastor that’s not in Los Angeles. they also have a huge menu so if you’re not a taco fan you can try something else.
The staff was friendly. The location was not that great though. They had one fan on in the whole place and it was really hot that day. Order your food to go.
