Hello, my name is Steve Rathbone and thought by some folks an expert in solving vehicle problems. Even the best designed of today’s vehicles can at times have issues that create a less than charming experience for most owners. Mechanical Advantage sets itself apart from the crowd in delivering pinpoint diagnostic accuracy and thorough resolution to these problems. Although my passion and area of specialty is in diagnostics, a high level of competency is also offered in generalized repair and maintenance of your vehicle. If getting it right the first time is important to you, then make the call, for everything else, well then, there’s always going to be everybody else.

History

Established in 2005.

Mechanical Advantage was registered and officially launched on April 1, 2005. This came about after operating a few years prior on a part time basis between other jobs and on the weekends. I’ve maintained things here as a home based business rather than venture to a store front operation staffed with employees. Obviously this reduces operating expenses, but more importantly it allows me to keep a hand’s on approach through all components of the repair experience. In doing so I’m able to find out and maintain focus on what’s important to the customer, and meet those objectives and expectations.

Hello, my name is Steve Rathbone and I’m looking for an opportunity to earn your business. I’ve had over 30 years experience in the automotive service business working mostly at independent repair shops specializing in foreign and domestic vehicles. In addition to real world practical experience I’ve been ASE Certified including ASE L-​1 certification as Advanced Engine Performance Specialist. Although formalized training and credentials is a nice thing to have, there is no substitute for experience and the proper mindset needed to think outside of the box and develop creative solutions to sometimes complex problems. I always try to couple this with my basic philosophy of «Let’s Fix it Right the First Time». Nothing can be as annoying or frustrating as a bad repair experience with your vehicle, all at the expense of your hard earned repair and maintenance budget!
