A Kitchen That Works (AKTW) is a full service design and build firm specializing in kitchens and baths for residential remodels and new construction. We assist clients with projects of all sizes by developing realistic budgets and project time lines, ensuring every dollar spent provides the maximum return with regard to function and finish. Our integrated approach to the design-​build process results in a perfect combination of the homeowner’s style and our expertise.

Our showroom displays three lines of cabinetry, counter tops, lighting and more.

Our team of licensed and bonded trade professionals is committed to sustainable design and construction practices while providing clients with beautiful, functional, low maintenance interior spaces including kitchens, baths, home offices, custom entertainment centers and more.

History

Established in 2002.

A Kitchen That Works LLC (AKTW) was founded in 2002 as a residential kitchen design consulting business by Molly McCabe, AKBD, CGP, CAPS. Since its inception, the Company has continuously grown and expanded its services to become a nationally recognized kitchen and bath design-​build firm. AKTW specializes in residential remodels with an emphasis on kitchens and baths.

AKTW is a member of the National Kitchen & Bath Association, the Home Builder Association of Kitsap, the NW Ecobuilding Guild and the Bainbridge Island Chamber of Commerce.

Meet the Business Owner

Molly M.

Business Owner

Molly M. started her professional career as an equity analyst specializing in the valuation of closely held companies in the building/​building products industries. As the daughter of award winning mid-​century modernist furniture designer Gerald McCabe, she returned to her design roots in 2002 when she founded A Kitchen That Works. Molly has earned the Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer (AKBD) certification from the National Kitchen & Bath Association, the Certified Green Professional (CGP) and Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) designations from the National Association of Home Builders. She is the recipient of the Environmental Design + Construction Excellence in Design Award 2009, Seattle Homes & Lifestyles magazine 2010 Favorite Spaces Contest, Best of Houzz for Customer Service 2013 and 2014 as well as several REX Awards. Molly has published numerous articles and presented at a variety of conferences on the subjects of design and sustainable construction.
