Rolling Bay Cafe

I was starving and where we had planned to have lunch, Via Rosa, was closed for Thanksgiving weekend unbeknownst to us until we arrived so I desperately looked for the closest food and Rolling Bay Café was it!
The tiny café had a larger selection than I expected. I had a salami and chèvre sandwich (hit the spot) and a peanut butter cookie (not too sweet). The girls working were friendly.
I would absolutely come back for coffee and pastry next time I’m in the area!

Really adorable coffee house! Lots of gluten free goodies and also muffins. They have tea freshly made in the cooler. I had the passion fruit black tea. My boyfriend had the white chocolate mocha which was also made to perfection.
They have an outside patio and they are dog friendly which I think is really cool.
There should be more dog friendly places. I believe they have wifi, however I’m not positive.
We’ll definitely be back next time we head across the water! :)

I’m so glad we did a stop on the way to the mountains back in March, the dulce espresso here was AMAZING. The coffee shop is super tiny, I think only 4 – 5 people can be in there and order at a time, but it was fine — you head to the back and there’s this gorgeous garden, green house and plant farm. So cute. It was one of my fondest memories of our mini-​road trip in Washington. Can’t wait to go back and have my dulce latte again :-)

I got an Americano & bowl of homemade veggie soup for only 6.95! The Soup was delicious and the service was wonderful. This place is an experience, with the beautiful scenery and expertly made coffee, It’s a real pleasure. The café is VERY tiny; but allows for ppl. to share the space courteously. I always leave in a good mood. I’m defiantly glad that It’s so close to work ;)

When you open the door, prepare to squeeze past other regulars waiting to get their delicious espresso drinks and choose from the extensive variety of baked goods. Rolling Bay is everything Bainbridge needs in terms of Saturday morning treats, and thankfully it’s far enough away from Winslow that the tourists can’t find it!

This was my first coffee shop experience on Bainbridge and it was wonderful. I walked in super early to be greeted by friendly, beautiful, expert lady baristas. The drip and espresso are both wonderful as are the dangerously delightful selection of pastries. I’ve been looking for you for a month and since I’ve found you again, I will be back. Highly recommend for a chill, relaxing yet inspiring coffee shop experience.

Love this place. Local Spot perfect for grabbing a latte before heading to Bainbridge’s beaches. Easy place to avoid tourists while grabbing homemade snacks (pasta salad, panini, veggies) and local pastries. Patio seating in garden area. how nice!
*Best Cappuccino on Bainbridge. And even Poulsbo. Would rather (and often do) drive to Bainbridge than give-​in to a mediocre latte from any of the current Poulsbo options. Well worth the trip. Doesn’t seem fair that Bainbridge has two of the best espresso places on one little island. and not a single spot in Poulsbo… *sigh*

If you’re visiting true Bainbridge Island inhabitants, you will likely be brought to Bay Hay & Feed to buy a landmark t-​shirt. I’ve been there a few times, but this most recent visit we noticed a café on the side of the store and were delighted to grab a coffee and cookie and sit amongst the flowers of the nursery behind the building. Added bonus is that they have some non-​pastry goodies to buy and snack on if you’re feeling a bit peckish.

We biked from the ferry to here to take our much earned break. Sat on their cute patio, used the clean restroom in the barn, and enjoyed our snacks. Next to a post office, garden store and mini mart.

We stopped in at the Rolling Bay Café after a quick jaunt through Bay Hay and Feed and it was a very nice little spot. A good number of coffee and beverage options as well as plenty of small sandwiches and pastries.
Extra star for the great patio outside on which to enjoy aforementioned delicacies!

Some of the best coffee on the island. They use a locally roasted coffee that is fantastic. The french press sandwiches were pretty tasty as well. They are tiny with only outside seating available.

Nice café at Bay Hay and Feed. Friendly, cozy place to see friends in the neighborhood.

Third time is NOT a charm! I went over to Bainbridge Island to spend time with a friend. School is out. We both have kids. We tried Andante for coffee and it is out of business. Next, we moved «up town» and tried Mud Puddle for coffee. It too is out of business. Now what? My friend lives near Rolling Bay, a quaint rural neighborhood of Bainbridge Island, so, as we headed to her house, we stopped at the coffee shop attached to the Bay Hay & Feed Store which is the hub of the little village that is Rolling Bay. She said «I know it is still there, because I just passed it on my way to pick you up at the ferry!» There is a beautiful outdoor seating area where one can eat in the lovely nursery. My friend said it is perfect for kids. After two failed attempts at lunch, our kids were getting cranky. Yes, the place is still in business, but ??? it is a very small place, no inside seating and only room for two or three customers. When we arrived, there were already a few people waiting and the barista was not there. We walked around the garden shop and came back. The barista was back, but flustered. That’s okay; she was holding down the fort all alone. However, she made the worst coffee drink I have had in a long while. The grilled sandwiches were not fresh. The bread fell apart as though it had been wrapped in Saran Wrap too long — soggy. The turkey and cheese inside the bread looked like bad grocery store packaged cold-​cuts. When I asked about the origin … the barista’s answer reminded me of the Foster Farm’s commercial … «Oh yes, very natural.» These sandwiches came with no side of chips or anything extra and were over $ 6.00. I do not mind paying that much for «grab & go» sandwiches for the kids — if the ingredients are fresh and organic. One has to compare to the ever available $ 5.00 foot-​long at Subway! These grilled sandwiches were just plain gross and we dumped them out. A local regular agreed with us as we were getting in our car. He said that he had been coming for years, but that the quality was slipping… i.e. baked goods that were not baked locally and usually a day old, but sold at full price. He suggested Town & Country Market, the folksy grocery store in Winslow for fresh, gilled sandwiches.

Off the beaten track, and nestled next to the Bay Hay and Feed store and post office in Rolling Bay, this (really) tiny coffee shop, does a brisk trade on a weekend morning, mostly with the locals since it is well outside Winslow. There is no seating inside, but some seating in the nursery outside, which can make it a super spot to visit. The coffee is better than average — supplied by Storyville, one of the «other» seattle roasters, and the staff are friendly and know their local clientele well. Since it is small there can sometimes be a wait stretching out the door, but with the nursury and the store adjacent, the wait for a coffee, italian soda or baked offering is manageable.
Quite a quaint little find, if you can find it! Gets a five star for just being different and able to pull it off well.
