Description

Specialties

We are a unique Catering Company that specializes in Catering Paella Events. Family owned and operated, The Unlikely Spaniard is a team of professionals dedicated to providing personalized, comprehensive catering services to private and corporate clients throughout the State of Washington. The Unlikely Spaniard believes that Paella is an event, not a particular dish. It’s what you do on a sunny Saturday afternoon in your backyard, or how you celebrate a special occasion with friends, family, and co-workers. The aroma, the colors, and the flavors are amazing. The Unlikely Spaniard offers a wide variety of Tapas (Spanish appetizers), Paella, Fiduea, Beverages, and Desserts that are delicious. It can be casual or elegant depending on the occasion. It’s a lot of fun. Let us handle all your catering needs at your next event.

History

Established in 2011.

My name is Preston Todd and I am «The Unlikely Spaniard». So how does a guy of Northern European Ancestry, who was born in Montana and raised in Idaho, become «The Unlikely Spaniard»? Let me tell you…21 years ago, I married a wonderful woman of Spanish decent who spent many years of her childhood living in Spain. We love Spanish culture and decided to rent a room to a visiting Professor, Azucena, from Spain. Azucena and her husband, Luca, became family to us after that first visit and have returned yearly for the past 14 years. As is the custom for many families in the region surrounding Valencia, Azu and Luca gather with their family every weekend for Paella and/or Fideua. Since Azu and Luca came to visit us yearly, Azu and I would cook Paella and Fideua for our friends and families as her father back home in Spain did every weekend. Thus, my training began… Through the past 14 years of cooking Paella, Fideua, Tapas and Desserts I have become a «Paellero», Paella Chef.

Business Owner

My mother was in the food industry and I helped her cater as I was growing up. At the time, I didn’t think it was my calling, but have found that it’s in my blood. When I began cooking Spanish cuisine that was really the first time I considered catering as a profession. I’m crazy about Paella and Spanish culture! I love the food, the wine, the music, the lifestyle, and the people. I’m a self taught Chef. I’m sure you’ll love the Spanish cuisine prepared by The Unlikely Spaniard. Enjoy!
