AMF Southwest Lanes

Went here for a bowling event and had a great time. The staff were friendly and helpful and the lanes were clean. Since it was an NFL playoff weekend, I asked if they could turn one of the TVs on so we could watch the game and they did it no problem. Everyone seemed to have a good time.

We went here today for a birthday party for my 7 year old son. We invited about 20 kids. It was kind of strange that when we first went to the bowling ally a couple of weeks ago… they knew nothing about parties. You had to call and 800 number and arrange it through them. We were informed that for 20 kids we could have 4 lanes, a party room, 1 SLICE of pizza per kid and 1 DRINK! WHHHATTTT??? it was another $ 4 per kid to bump it to 2 slices.
I told my wife that I KNOW Mossmans does not make pizza and so I knew they had to have 2 delivered. Sure enough, Pizza Hut…1 PIZZA! Anyway as we were setting up I noticed that 2 other parties had a ton of Costco pizzas and plenty of sodas. So wife I said, «im heading to Costco.» She was concerned we would get busted bringing them in. I said no problem, I will just wrap them as gifts and they will be none the wiser.
Long story short, the bowling ally is independent of AMF somehow… but they don’t give a crap what you bring. I have to say our hostess, who was also running the counter and bartending… juggled quite well! There were a total employess there and what appeared to be a manager. Aside from the manager the employess were all BUSTING THEIR butts and were friendly!
SO overall good. 1 one star or less meter would apply to the freaking colow of the building and the cleanliness throughout. Filthy! But those employess didn’t have time to be vacuuming or washing windows. Too bad, just not a clean environment for kids,
BTW, I went into the bar to get some water and our local Bakersfield «Norm» was bellied up the bar. He told me I could get what I needed and pay her when she got back in there… wherever that was.
The kids liked it and that’s what mattered! I would like to know the name of the younger, long haired brunette that busted her back to make sure all went off ok.

Used to be a terrific place and we took our social group, about 40 people, once a month. Then they got bought out, and they jacked up all the prices! Not only that, but they didn’t contact us to tell us about this change, despite our standing reservation, which included my phone number. So we show up and get the very unhappy surprise that families will pay nearly $ 20 more to play. Then we noticed that all the employees were new. Gone were the folks who knew us and made us feel welcome, replaced with stone-​faced punks who could care less. We stayed that evening, but we will take our very large group elsewhere from now on.
I do miss eating at Mossman’s, but we only went there when we were bowling, so haven’t been back there either. Sorry, Mossman’s. The new owners screwed ya.

I don’t think I’ll come back again. I used to come here all the time with my friends but this time… We waited for 10 min until someone came and said they were closing an hour early because they were slow. But more people came and they turned them down as well. What kind of management does that? Just because you’re slow you shouldn’t turn down customers. I don’t think I’ll EVER come back again. There are other bowling alleys that will welcome our business regardless.

Your typical bowling alley nothing fancy! I did notice the same girl that was working the bowling counter was also working the bar so she didn’t seem to friendly and that’s probably because she was overworked. The bar section was actually pretty cool it was a pretty large bar area with booths as well and a pool table.

Best bowling alley in Bakersfield. There are 32 lanes here which is the most of anyone else in town (I believe). It’s the most modern bowling alley in Bakersfield also. The air conditioning works really well too especially when comparing it to Regency Bowling Center on Real Rd. My favorite time to come to Southwest Lanes is when there is no bowling league going on so call ahead to make sure there is no league taking place when you want to go.
A fun place to go with family or friends.

I came here with my nephews on a Saturday afternoon and we had a blast. They had a special for kids and it was only $ 2 for them to bowl. They had a large selection of bowling balls for the kids and they had a kid-​friendly selection of music, as well. We stopped by the arcade section for a bit and they had fun playing the different video games. There were a lot of kids there and it was a great atmosphere.

There needs to be an age limit. A family rt next to is brought a 2 yr old and let her run wild. She was picking up bowling and drop it on the ground. It was annoying.

This bowling alley is right by our apartment this was our first time here in a really really long time. We took our three year old son who had a blast! I’m not to familiar with the pricing but I believe it was 13 $ for two adult shoes and one children’s shoe which by the way the have a size six as the smallest (very cute little shoes with Velcro) my son wore a nine. And the three of us played two games which came out to 27 $ which that fee we paid at the end. This place wasn’t that packed for a Friday night at around sevenish in fact it was perfect then at about 9 they announced that it was going to be cosmic bowling at 930 and to not start a new game. I’m a huge fan of cold beer and this pitcher of beer was average. The atmosphere was good it’s not very new or remodeled or anything but it was nice and clean. The pitcher of water and cups was free because yes you do get a mini workout while bowling. I picked up a flyer for a bday party idea this year for my sons 4^th bday so maybe we might have a bday here since he loved it so much. Go bowling if u have a family… FUN!

& gave my mom and I a few pointers on how to bowl lol
They have a lot of promotional coupons that they
give out like: buy one game get one free etc
& on certain days during certain hours
sometimes games are $ 1 I believe?
I’m not sure but call and ask
The place is pretty clean
compared to the other bowling alleys here in Bakersfield
It just sucks when there’s league bowling
& they kick everyone out or don’t give you a lane
Call and check before going!
I’ve never been cosmic bowling but I’m sure
that’s that’s probably 1000x better lol
They also have a little game area for dance dance revolution
air hockey and some other arcade games

Nice, clean place to bowl. Much newer and better kept than the other bowling alleys in the area. Bar is nice, staff is cool and the lanes are always in good condition.

This is my bowling alley of choice in town. I like the lanes here. The alley is clean and well-​kept, and the staff here is nice. The bar is cheap and pours stiff drinks. This is a reliable 4 star bowling alley.
