Awesome hotel. Great breakfast, staff and location.
One down side. If you come here planning to stay for awhile and want to bring your Xbox. You might have trouble getting on the network.
It’s a big hassle calling tech support and getting connected.
Computers and iPads are not a problem but everything else is a bitch.

It’s not the best, nor the cheapest, but it’s a decent balance. Staff has been friendly, never had any issues with my stays.

The hotel is run down. Our room smelled horrible. The breakfast was poor quality. And you have to ask to use the hot tub so they can turn it on. We did and waited twenty minutes only to find they never even turned it on. And the woman at the desk was rude. Never will I stay in this hotel again!!!

This place is old and very outdated. It was clean and it wasn’t too noisy although the walls are very thin. Probably because the hotel was pretty empty but we could hear everything outside even with the windows closed. The free breakfast was a joke. Booked this place through Hotwire and it definitely doesn’t meet the 3-​star rating. It’s more like a 2 star. Good thing we were just passing through and only staying one night.

Clean hotel, good service, downstairs bar, costco nearby, and the freeway. What more could you ask for? The room was nicely furnished and clean. Pretty reasonable for its price as well.

We have stayed here several times and enjoyed it but this time will be our last! What turned us off was seeing black widow spiders and a very large cockroach next to us in the pool area. When we went to the spa, we saw that the water was murky and not inviting! We returned to the hotel without a much wanted dip! The front desk clerk did not seem to care about our complaint. The rooms are well equipped and comfortable, but we are hoping there is a better place for next trip. We are forgetting the free breakfast thinking the cockroach has friends there!

BUT, watch out for the Crackheads and thieves that break into cars on a regular basis in the hotels and adjacent businesses parking lots. My car was broken into in the 5 minutes I left it in the north parking lot. All my luggage and any thing else not nailed down was gone. The rooms and hotel are nice, and a great location. However, do not leave any items in your car for any amount of time. Even just the 5 or less minutes it takes to check in. They have security camera’s all around hotel. But when I asked about the one located right over my car and pointing at it. Coincindently I was told, «Oh that one is broke» ???

Let me just start by saying I am picky. No matter where we go I pay attention to details, but this was ridiculous. I can’t comment about the front desk because my husband checked us in, but the service seemed pretty nice. We get up to our room and it looks great! I am so excited because we have been driving for 16 hours from Washington state and we cannot wait to lay on a nice big comfy bed. The bed was comfy room looked nice at first. The more I was getting ready to go to bed I noticed the bathroom sink had not even been wiped off. There was some kind of blue toothpaste caked to the sides but I said whatever and kept doing my thing. Well suddenly the phone rings, it was the front dealing asking of there was a blazer in our closet, guess what was in our closet, a blazer! I’m not upset that they called, I’m upset because it was right as soon as you open the closet door. How do you completely miss checking a closet? I’m not even mad at this point I am just ready for bed. I wake up around 1:45 burning up! Like I think Satan decided to come chill in our room; it was so freaking hot. I finally figure out the thermostat (it was a wall one) and find out that Satan DID come stay here because the smell that came out of that air conditioning unit was ungodly! It is disgusting! I’m like alright let it run for a few seconds and it’ll go away. I’m thirsty so I go to get a water out of the vending machine, but good luck finding them because there are no signs, no point of direction, NOTHING! So to my luck I finally find one… And realize it is not working. No lights or anything. As soon as I walk back in the room guess what else I notice, our lovely bed has no fitted sheet but some maid put a flat sheet on trying to cover it up. I hate giving people bad reviews but this is a little ridiculous. If I was stuck in Balersville I WOULD NOT come back to this hotel.

My husband and I stayed here on our way driving up to Washtington state. We left South OC after work to make the next day a bit easier and arrived at the hotel about 9:45 PM. I go to check in and wasn’t even greeted by the front desk person, she just stared at me and then finally asked «how can I help you» in a disinterested tone. I guess she was more interested in the gentleman who was standing there talking to her, they sounded like good friends. So I give her my name and she looks up our reservation. At first I think she can’t find it because she picks up the phone to call someone. She then tells me they are over booked by 14 rooms. I had been up since 5am that morning, I am exhausted and this is not what I want to hear. Why she is straightening all of this out her friend is telling me about all of the great amenities at the hotel and they go back and forth about the bar, why time it opened, and how they are inconsistent with their hours. I am about ready to just leave at this point. So a manager type person comes down, doesn’t acknowledge me, and they figure it out. The manager type person tells me they don’t have any rooms available right then but she is going to help the housekeeper and clean one now. It should only be about 20 minutes and they are upgrading us to a suite for the trouble. I say fine because we already paid and it would be too much trouble to find another place. So she gives us our keys and says she will let us know when the room is ready if we sit in the bar area. An hour later and we haven’t been told anything so I go back up and ask. I am told that it is ready so she gives us new keys, no explanation or apology. We go up to our room and everything seems average. I am at the point I am too tired to fall asleep so I turn on the TV and there are 6 solid white lines that pass through the screen. The bathroom door has is all dirty, has paint missing from the bottom and jut looks gross. Everything else in the rooms is clean but we don’t really look too closely. We went to breakfast in the morning and all the tables were full but told we could sit at the bar. I make a plate of scrambles eggs and hash browns and after 1 bite am done. The eggs tasted very sulfuric and the hash browns like cardboard. As we were leaving we hit up Carl’s JR. You could not pay me to stay ere again.

I stayed in Bakersfield for one winter night and selected this hotel because it is quite reasonable relative to its ratings. I had a couple problems with my room but overall OK. The beds were way too soft (apparently this varies considerably from room to room or from time to time, because other reviewers have said they were way too hard). Also this hotel is right next to Hwy 99 and there was considerable road noise. Probably the rooms across the hall from me, facing the other way, were quiet enough.
I enjoyed the complimentary breakfast (includes hot eggs). The room was clean, well furnished and well maintained. The shower is great, including the non-​slip floor and high shower head. Plenty of pillows, blankets, and linens, everything very clean.
If you get a quiet room and bed to your liking, this hotel is a great find!

the internet service SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS!!!
the bed is super hard, and the general temperature of the hotel is strange.
the two stars comes for the good parking and location, along with the aesthetically appealing lobby area which looks newly renovated.

I love the staff and amenities at this hotel! They will bend over backwards to help you, and I really appreciated their kindness. No, this is not a resort. For a nice, comfortable, clean, secure property at a reasonable price this is the place.

On my recent visit to Bakersfield I was given room 501. When I went to shower in the morning I discovered extremely limited water pressure. I called the front desk thinking perhaps a circulatory pump might be down. I was informed that I was in a room that was too high up and that was the way it goes. I guess I should have called the architect or builder.

Chose this hotel because it had decent reviews online and had to go to Bakersfield for a funeral and I wanted a smoking room.
The good:
Clean, quiet room very nicely furnished, comfy bed, good shower, good central location.
The bad: Came back Saturday at 2:00 pm from our funeral and the room had not been cleaned. No one ever cleaned our room for our stay. We had to beg the maid in the hallway for clean towels and more shampoo and soap.
Iron in room spit water, called for a replacement and it had gunk on the heat plate and would have ruined my husband’s dress shirt. No time to call for another so had to use a pillowcase as a press cloth.
The free breakfast was pretty yucky and the lobby coffee had a weird taste like fish oil.
I would have liked a drink after the funeral but the bar was not open at 4:00 pm Saturday night. I went next door to the Hungry Hunter bar for a few glasses of wine.
Overall I would stay here again now that I know about the few quirks.

The good:
Easy access from the freeway
Ample parking
Reasonably quiet
Decent basic breakfast buffet
Comfortable couches in rooms
Very accommodating to our requests
The not-​so-​good:
Room was too warm in wintertime, even with the heater turned all the way down. (ended up having to turn on the AC, despite having the window open to 40 degree air outside)
Bed was much too firm, even for my wife who loves a firm bed.
An odd note: We asked for a crib for my son, and they brought in a rolling crib, and left it just inside the entry of the room. It didn’t fit between the bed and the entertainment center, so I had to lift it up and over the bed to get it to someplace where it would fit and we could walk past it.
My wife and I had planned to make a return trip the following weekend and stay at this hotel again. Those plans have now changed to have us at a different hotel, preferably one with softer beds.

My company has utilized this hotel for over 6 years. We are always accommodated (sometimes over 40 people in our party). Ample parking, close to eats, simple but hot breakfast in the morning. There is even is a small business office for short computer work.
New owners have re-​vamped the entire hotel with a new lobby (which includes a small bar), new lobby tile floor, leather lobby furniture and new room shower heads. And if you’ve forgotten something like shaving cream, razor etc, all available from the front desk.
True, the internet connection from the rooms remains problematic, it is a work in progress (as of April 2007).
The front desk staff is courteous (though always changing… hmmm).
UPDATE March 2008
New shower heads, new routers, new towel holders (super rich towels too). The lobby business computer room had no printer (and it doesnt sound like it’s coming back). Staff continues to change but ever courteous.

I got 3 rooms for this last weekend for my teammates and I. My girlfriend and I in one with one queen bed (non-​smoking), 4 teammates in another with 2 queens (I think; smoking), and 4 other teammates in the last (same setup as previous). Our room was fine; I have no real complaints. Here comes the weird part. First smoking room we walked into, wreaked of smoke (obviously) and the second room smelled a lot cleaner than our non-​smoking room. Not really a complaint, just more of an observation (I didn’t sleep in the smoking rooms anyways). The location was great! It was right next to the 99 freeway with easy access. A Carl’s Jr. and another Black Angus style place was in the same parking lot. A Costco is at an adjoining parking lot. Their breakfast was forgettable, but free. Their wireless internet in the room was terrible (wasn’t able to connect once). Their lounge area in the lobby is ok and they offer a small office space, which was good because I couldn’t connect to the internet with my laptop. Overall, I’m glad I picked this place. Our event was at the fairgrounds so our drive was short and pretty direct. If we have an event next year, I wouldn’t mind staying there again.
