The company s affiliates include Southwest Glass and Mirror Company and Pacific Cabinet and Millwork. The products offered by the company include vinyl and wood windows, baseboards, casings, molding, fire mantels, lock sets and stair parts. It also offers hollow metal doors and frames, toilet partitions, mailboxes, book depositories, brass railings, cabinet hardware and corner guards. In addition, it maintains a team of professionals that provide client assistance services. G.H. Slack & Son has been operational for more than 60 years and is located in Bakersfield, Calif.

Established in 1947.

When Gwynne Hampton Slack opened his doors for business in 1947, he realized that the only way he could compete with the well established local lumber yards was to not only to offer the best selection but also the service.

Over 60 years later, the competitive landscape has undergone a significant transformation; Large do-​it-​yourself centers have replaced the traditional «mom and pop» hardware stores and large foreign conglomerates dominate the lumber yards.

However, what still remains the same today at G. H. Slack and Son is the commitment to selection, service and customer satisfaction. We specialize in bringing your dreams to reality.

A fourth-​generation Californian, Terry Krausgrill grew up in Sacramento with his parents, older brother, and two older sisters. He graduated from the University of California, Davis with a degree in Economics. After college, Terry worked for P.E. O’Hair & Company (named for the founder and his great-​grandfather Patrick E. O’Hair). Established in the 1890’s, P.E. O’Hair & Company was a plumbing and steam-​fitting supply business with branches throughout California, including the city of Bakersfield. Terry was transferred to the Bakersfield branch in 1990, where shortly after, P.E. O’Hair & Co. was bought out by United Westburne. In the mid-​1990s, Terry acquired G.H. Slack & Son and continues to manage his company with the same family work ethic and local business mindset. Terry lives locally in Bakersfield with his wife of over 25 years, Lyndia and their dog, Bosco. They also have three beautiful children, Lauren, Chris & Kirby, who have three dogs of their own: Ozzy, Walker, and Huey.
