Decided to go back the other day. Same scenario kids and girlfriend wanted China bistro so I went to Miyosh. This time no cleanse! Food was good and the portions large. I really enjoyed the tempura shrimp and vegetables. The porcelain gods were upset, no praying on this day!

Took my wife and daughter here tonight and the food was EXCELLENT! they each had the chicken teriyaki and my wife says the best miso soup around. I had the Tsunami Roll [ deep fried ] SPICY and would order that everyday! we sat outside near the waterfall and they brought us our food which is cool. Great evening at the Market Place only wish it would stay this cool all Summer long.

Cute little place in the marketplace, but not worth the money unless you’re getting a combo meal. On the other hand, I thought the place is very clean and has a casual ambiance that is suitable for small families or a small group of friends to chit-chat and catch up. Anyways, during my recent experience, I dropped in to buy 1 sushi roll to-go and waited long enough to the point of impatience– trust me, I’m a very patient woman. In the end my «Hawaiian Roll» was definitely not what I expected, and was sadly disappointed of the quality, quantity, and money lost. If I ever feel in the mood in the Marketplace for some sushi, I think I’ll go visit someplace else unfortunately.

This is my second time here, the food I’ve tried is good. They have one vegetarian sushi roll which I’ve had twice and today I tried the seaweed salad and tofu nuggets which were all very tasty. The tofu nuggets are similar to the ones you can buy frozen at trader joes. It’s very clean inside and decorated nicely. They play Japanese music in the background which adds to the atmosphere. Staff are friendly.

This placed used to good, not sure what happened. Ordered the spicy tuna roll and a rainbow roll, total crap ingredients now, couldn’t even finish it. Just awful. Spicy tuna didn’t have nearly enough rice to balance out the tuna, the fish on top of the rainbow roll tasted old and was kinda rubbery? My friend ordered a crunch roll and there was 10x more crunchy stuff than sushi, and it took a while to even find the sushi under it all.

One of the very few if not only restaurants to serve food close to authentic tasting Japanese food. I come here a lot to eat and I have a very keen taste for authentic Japanese food as I grew up eating it all my life(obviously not in Bakersfield). Even my mom(born and raised in Japan) gives her stamp of approval of the food here. She really enjoys their Chashu ramen. The fried rice and gyoza is really good too. My favorite from this place is their tonkatsu(pork cutlet). It’s very well done and tender unlike many other restaurants who attempt to replicate Japanese tonkatsu. The atmosphere is perfect and they are always playing Japanese songs in the background to give it that feel. I like that they try to introduce new items to the menu every so often. They recently introduced zaru soba to their list of menu items. The soba itself is pretty good and the presentation is very nice. I suggest the dipping sauce should be more rich in taste. It’s too watery the way it is now. I also hope they put in traditional Japanese curry to their menu as this is probably the most popular menu item in most Japanese restaurants. Overall I love this place and the best thing about it is that it won’t break your bank.

I must have had high hopes for Miyosh. I truly wanted to like it. I was excited when my husband chose Miyosh for dinner but, somehow, it just didn’t meet my expectations… First of all, customer service. It was fantastic. The hostess was great, even with my son which isn’t always the case so I was very happy and pleased with that. The food, on the other hand, was kinda meh. I’ve had great tasting food at smaller, hole-in-the-wall places than I did at Miyosh. And I only had basic chicken teriyaki and one of their house rolls. For some reason, the food looked like it had been sitting around for a while… Especially for sushi, that’s not good. Not at all. I was not impressed and I hope they work on their presentation a bit for next time. Yes, next time as this review is based off of a first/only visit. Maybe this was a one-off??? We’ll see…

My boyfriend and I love to treat ourselves here after class sometimes. He’s no ramen expert and I’m no sushi expert, but we both love the food here. We’ve never experienced bad service or bad food. My favorite roll here is the Rock n Roll, and my boyfriend likes ordering the ramen.

They are on the small side. The food is decent… the menu is just very limited. Not a true Japanese feel.

Friendly staff, fresh menu and a very reasonable price. I travel to Japan several times a year and I don’t expect to find the same restaurants that are in Tokyo here in Bako, LOL. The food is good, the location is fun for the whole family and the prices are great. My kids love it!

This place is still at the top of my list. They have stuff that my entire family likes which is a huge plus. My son loves getting the kids chicken meal which for $ 7 comes with plenty of food and a drink. I have tried all the fried rices and have been satisfied. I am a creature of habit and usually get one of two rolls(shrimp tempura roll or the Las Vegas roll) which are my favs made with soy paper. The gyoza and tempura are always fried to order. The triples and doubles are usually the go to for my husband and it’s plenty of food. I will keep coming back for sure. I still wish they were open Sundays too since we usually have our meal out on that day.

I’m certainly spoiled when it comes to ramen. I’ve eaten at some of the best ramen houses in LA, SF, NYC, Honolulu, Osaka and Tokyo. I seek out good ramen probably more than any other type of food when I’m traveling. I mention this as a disclaimer for my review since I’m likely comparing this ramen against some of the world’s best. I stopped in because I saw that they had a seasonal special for tonkatsu ramen, my favorite. It came in a large bowl piping hot and looked good visually. I sucked up a good portion of noodles and slowly chewed the them to feel its consistency and get my first taste of the broth. I was disappointed with both. The noodles felt store bought and the broth was bland. It did not have that usual rich tonkatsu taste. As I slurped up more broth, I realized that the base was certainly miso and not tonkatsu. Either most people here don’t know what tonkatsu tastes like or they ran out and thought they could pull one over me. Unfortunately, I’m as close to a ramen critic/expert as you can get, except I don’t get paid for it and I could not be fooled. Additionally, I’m used to the actual tonkatsu slices in the ramen to almost melt like butter in my mouth from the tenderness and balance of fat on the meat. Their slices were thick, chewy and tasteless. I ate less than ¼, got a to go container and handed it to a shivering homeless man on my way out of the parking lot because I knew I wouldn’t be eating the leftovers and I wanted someone to enjoy the hot meal I had paid for.

This place has great food for a great price! Staff is awesome. They are really nice and attentive. This place is on the smaller side so it can get crowded around lunch time. They serve food quick and they offer some boba drinks which are really good too =)

Went to Miyosh after years of going somewhere else to see if they were better than the last time I went. They weren’t. The food was expensive which should mean better quality fish and rolls, instead I was given beautiful rolls but ones that were huge, mainly packed with rice that didn’t taste good, fish that was ehh, and covered in so much sauce that I kept accidentally dipping my hand into it. I thought«good move with the rice, makes it seem like you’re getting a ton of food… lol nope!» I was sad when my favorite part, the miso soup wasn’t even good! Everything tasted old. To be honest, I missed Bentos because I could tell a huge difference in taste, quality, and price. The good things were the service though I realize their customer base were mostly inexperienced sushi eaters due to the fact she wanted to know if I wanted a fork(I’ve been eating with chopsticks for over 15 years now) and asked if I knew that a hand roll wasn’t cut. I appreciated the service, but again it just shows who mainly comes in. The best part of the entire meal was the water and the coffee candy given with my bill. Other than that, I was silently trying to get down the sushi because somewhere deep inside I was hoping it would get better, it didn’t. I won’t be back.

Not the most legit ramen out there… I guess I got used to SoCal ramen spots. Their teas are pretty good and pretty to look at. Customer service is friendly. Clean restaurant and trendy. I’m just waiting for a REAL ramen place here In Bakersfield!

If you got a dollar to spare after shopping around the marketplace(LOL– QQ many expensive stores in the vicinity!), this is a great little place to go for lunch or dinner! The decorations are always A+ for how pretty and neat everything looks. Everything is very charming and unique(in a good way!) So ambiance and atmosphere? Very good! Service is also A+, the servers were so nice and attentive! The only thing that confused me was if Miyosh was more café or more restaurant style. They would have the display and menu like a café, but the service partially like a restaurant. It’s sort of a welcome change for me– maybe Miyosh is some sort of hybrid place. Food– the most important part! Tasty… But pricey. I got the yellow submarine this time and while it was good(mildly spicy mayo? Yes please!), I think the price wasn’t worth it. I mean, Vons is right next door and the sushi is pretty good there too. And cheaper! I’m not sure about the value of the other items on the menu, so further research shall be done! The combos did look pretty good, but I wasn’t really hungry. GETTHECOMBO– more food FORSURE for a better price. Not a place for someone to eat alone– but with friends!

My husband and I came here last night because we recently saw the menu at Miyosh and noticed they had«ramen» as an entrée. Wow, that’s rare. We’ve been looking for some Japanese ramen options in Bakersfield for awhile now, but could never find any. So… last night, we took a leap into this restaurant to try their ‘cha-shu ramen’. We ordered: (1) 2 bowls of the cha-shu ramen — the bowls were huge, and the ramen was plentiful. however, the noodle texture was a bit disappointing, almost reminded me of noodles in one of those instant noodle bags from the grocery store. :-/I guess we’ve tried over 25+ ramen restaurants over OC, LA and NYC that our palate is set high. Each bowl had 2 slices of cha-shu, but the meat was thin and not flavorful. Seemed like it was just tossed into the broth to cook. You have to dip it in some hot sauce or soy sauce to add some flavor. It was a good effort though for being the only place in Bakersfield that sells ramen, and the price is hefty at $ 9.95 a bowl. 3 stars. (2) spicy tuna roll — typical spicy tuna roll; nothing out of the ordinary but was good. 3.5 stars This restaurant was well lit, friendly staff behind the counter, and plenty of 2-seaters available. It’s in a great location since the movie theater is right there. :)

Love this place! The food is great and the staff has always been super nice and friendly when I’ve dined in. Pricing is decent as well. I usually get the triple; the sushi is always fresh and the teriyaki chicken is yummy as well, my son’s fave. The udon is super delicious also. This place is definitely convenient for my last minute sushi cravings. I call my order in and there is sushi in my mouth within 20 mins. :) They have even taken a late order from me, a few minutes before closing and was more than happy to stay a few extra minutes to wait for me. My only complaint about this place is that it’s closed on Sundays! Boo!
